About Changing Perceptions

Changing Perceptions is a Social Enterprise operated by the Meath Epilepsy Charity (No. 200359)

'Official Stockist of Frenchic® Furniture Paint'

Changing Perceptions Description

Changing Perceptions is a furniture 'up-cycling' social enterprise with a difference. . Operated by The Meath Epilepsy Charity, the enterprise seeks to provide vocational skills training for people affected by epilepsy and learning /physical disabilities.

The 'Upcycling Team' is a blend of the people we support, Meath Staff and Volunteers. We gratefully accept donations of preloved wooden furniture and transform them during daily workshop sessions with professional paint techniques. Each unique piece is sold on-site. The Saleroom is also a gorgeous Tea Room which sells a wide range of speciality loose leaf teas, freshly ground coffee, homemade cakes, light lunches and local produce. Changing Perceptions is also the Godalming stockist for Frenchic Furniture Paint - providing everything you might need to complete your own Upcycling projects at home - and now also offering monthly workshops to customers. Every purchase made raises money for this worthwhile Charity and will impact significantly on some very special peoples' lives.

!! IT’S NATIONAL VOLUNTEERS WEEK !! !! IT’S NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK !!
We’re sending out an enormous heartfelt THANK YOU to each and every one of our 28 volunteers – Changing Perceptions would not be such a successful, inspirational enterprise without you.
Featured below is our much treasured YVONNE DONOVAN with Timothy. Yvonne truly is a shining star at CP – she has dedicated so much time and energy to our enterprise over the last three years from valuable 1:1 time spent... with clients to scrubbing the sink and so much more! We don’t know what we’d do without her… !
“I think of each individual client and like to help develop their abilities which being aware of any limitations they may have. ‘Encourage and praise’ is my mantra. I love the involvement and interaction.
“I get back so much; the smiles of satisfaction from staff and clients and finished furniture is a good exchange for the time I give”

Changing Perceptions is THREE YEARS OLD!!! THANK YOU to all the amazing CP team who have made this journey such a success! Our Wonderful Cafe & Workshop Staff Team: the dedication, determination and constant hard work from the awesome Sharon Anderson, Lisa Richardson, Luisa Lopez, Dan DeCaestecker, Austin Anderson, Sue Green. What a gorgeous cafe - and for a good cause as well - my new cafe crush

Visited again this afternoon. Always impressed by the friendliness of the staff, and the food/cakes is good too (although I resisted the lemon polenta cake today). Once we had finished our respective coffees and teas we also had a wander round the workshop at the back looking at the furniture. Love the ethos of this place.

This place is a delight, friendly staff and great food.

The coffee shop is lovely (and they have amazing gluten free cake). Great atmosphere Love the furniture workshop and will be back, highly recommended.

User

Such a great atmosphere, amazing ideas to make the place look brilliant, plus the workshop at the back, I love it all!! Felt very welcome, great prices too. Looking forwards to going back to this lovely shop for a hot chocolate and to see the latest projects for sale. x

My favourite place for a snack in Godalming. It's dog friendly which is a big plus! The staff are really friendly and helpful . It was my dogs birthday today and she was thoroughly spoilt with dog biscuits from the girls.

Lovely place xx

User

Lovely tranquil and quirky environment, great coffee and yummy cakes supporting/highlighting an important local charity.

User

Lovely coffee and toasted sandwiches. Also dog friendly which earns it 5*'s straight away!

User

Love this little gem of a place. For me it's all about the cake well maybe the upcycled furniture

User

Just had a fantastic bacon sarnie, absolutely delish.

Thank you xx

User

I've just had the most delicious leek and potato soup for lunch with a coffee. Such a lovely atmosphere and friendly service. A great place!

User

I regularly pop in for a tea or coffee, inevitably a cheese scone (delicious!) or a cake - delicious too! I'm always impressed by the warm welcome, the relaxation of the place and the vast array of all sorts of upcycling "products" to explore. If you haven't popped in, I'd urge you to remedy this. You won't be disappointed - indeed, you may become a regular. Margaret, Maria's mum

I had such a fabulous time today helping in the workshop. Everyone is so lovely to work with. I love the whole concept of Changing Perceptions. I can't wait to come back xx

User

I had been once with a friend and yesterday took my husband and our two children, it was quiet at the time we went, at least round by the chalkboard (good when you have an ASD child) and the children loved the challenge board. Food and drink are reasonably priced and good quality. Coffee is very good quality, especially for the price! This is a place worth making your regular coffee shop!

User

Had a late lunch here yesterday, would highly recommend. Savoury cream tea was yummy. Warm and friendly atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

User

Great tea and my son loved his tea cake. Lovely atmosphere. Workshop looked jolly busy, a hive of industry. Will be back for lunch soon. Thanks .

User

Brilliant workshop with top tips on upcycling, breathing new life into old kitchen cupboards. Lovely coffee too!

User

A unique little cafe in Godalming, a warm welcome and a tasty selection of light snacks. I even bought a nice mantle mirror there before Christmas that was not on my shopping list !
