We visited yesterday (7.10.18) we honestly had the best day ever! The sealife centre and the zoo animals are spectacular you are super super close! The staff are fab! The rides are great most we didn’t have to cue up for longer than half an hour maybe due to the time of year but certainly better than cueing for hours! Can’t recommend highly enough currently planning to return with the kids for a weekend break!! Only negative is sooooo minor-we was sold a refill bottle that leaked all day long. Five stars all day long!!

We had a great day out with our 7 year old on a very hot day during the summer holidays. Queues were generally quicker than advertised except Tiger Rock which seemed to let endless people queue jump even without fastrack passes..

Overall a great day but food and drinks were extortionately priced and we wasted 45 minutes at one point trying to get our bag back in a locker as the computer went down and it took 3 members of staff 40 minutes to appear to reset it!!

Our family had a great birthday celebration at Chessington. We stayed in the glamping which is really nice n well set up for families. We got on loads of rides over the 2 days. Queues not that bad for most things we got on but food was not good. We pre-purchased meal vouchers for our stay but have to say the quality was pretty bad pizza/pasta buffet restaurant was very dirty with horrible sticky floors.

The min height restrictions are confusing as we queued 45 mins for zufari only to be turned away by staff after others had said it was ok very annoying n upsetting for my daughter. Also the amusements were a con as we put our coins in, as did other ppl, n half the time the machines did nothing, staff called other staff but no 1 actually came to sort it out until customers finally got fed up n left with nothing. A total waste of £££ so avoid!!

Overall though theres so much to see n do we had an excellent time n enjoyed the park n zoo immensely. Its a beautiful place n generally well kept would recommend it n the glamping too!

Me and my husband came yesterday with our two children (3yrs and 1yr) we a got brilliant offer on the website (if we booked in advance, weekday in school term an adult and toodler ticket was £22) if it is wasn't for this deal we would never has visited as the prices are way too high... All in all we had a lovely day and would visit again, here are some positives and negatives

- When we arrived the road getting to the car park was full of potholes to the point you couldn't drive round them, we didn't mind parking in a field but this may have been different if it was raining or muddy

- When we were looking for somewhere to have lunch the variety isn't great, it is all Hotdogs, burgers, pizza or fried chicken - a healthy option would have been nice

- There aren't many rides for younger children, and some have height restrictions that seem pointless, zufari has a height restriction of 1m my daughter measured at 96cm and was turned away

- The arcades are a rip off, prices are OK games start at 30p but to get any 1/2 decent prizes you need a lot of tickets

- In park games are expensive, we played hook fish (prize everytime) this was £5 a go and with two children that's £10 done straight away for toys that are poor quality, the children enjoyed Playing tho

- The rides we did go on we enjoyed and the children loved

- The sealife centre was a huge hit with us, especially our 1yr old

- The zoo and tiger rock were brilliant the children loved the animals

We visited yesterday even though we knew the forecast was rain for the whole duration we would be there, we tried contacting Chessingtons to see if we could reschedule for another date via email and phone but to no avail .

Upon arrival, we were sent on a wild goose chase around the £3 car park area where we spoke to 3-4 different members of staff who didn’t seem to know where the express Parking area was hence driving round the car park 3 times, one member of staff told us to drive through the yellow barriers to exit the car park and we wouldn’t have to pay but got stuck at barriers as they needed payment resulting in us reversing back out to speak to another member of staff in the cafe who seemed more clued up than the parking attendants were?!

The park itself was ok although we couldn’t go on a lot of the rides as they were closed or it was raining so hard it was ridiculous. The park itself was not clearly sign posted to get in and out of the park and some parts were very tired looking too.

I then received an email response this morning saying that yes I could reschedule my tickets to another day but at a charge of extra £5 per ticket?! Absolute rip off when the weather was clearly forecasting rain for the whole day?! We could have saved ourselves the journey there n back but felt compelled to attend the actual day just so that we could get our tickets issued in hard copy (as I’d purchased tickets online via Tesco ) just so we could say it rained on our visit so we could make use of the ‘rainy day guarantee ‘.

I expected much more from Chessingtons.

Visited on Monday 30th July as a Birthday treat for my 11year old Daughter and her best friend. Having been before (20 years ago!), I had good memories of Chessington but I must say I was somewhat disappointed this time around.

Here are the pros and cons from our point of view.....

My daughter and her friend both said they enjoyed the day out

They also said it wasn't as good as Legoland, where we took them last year

Queues were not that bad considering it's the summer holidays

Tiger Rocks was closed most of the time we were there, very disappointed kids and worrying that a major ride is not reliable at the start of the busy season!

We liked the idea of having a refillable drinks deal, makes sense and saves having to carry lots of drinks around all day

Because of an issue with water pressure the majority of the outlets where you could refill had issues with their dispensers so not much good! I had to keep going back to the two we found that did! Again concerning at the start of the busy season

There was one food outlet catering for vegetarians and vegans

Food outlets were very expensive for what you get and service was generally slow!

The park appeared to be reasonably clean and tidy

Some of the rides and infrastructure are looking tired and run down

Unfortunately I am going to end on a couple more negatives....

The car parking is a joke! I remember having a properly organised tarmac car park years ago, whereas now you have an off road, pot hole ridden bumpy driving experience culminating the privilege of parking in a field!

On arrival there are marshalls to direct you where to park, however, when leaving there is no such assistance and this results in a free for all with people pushing in and tempers rising! It took us nearly 45 minutes from getting in the car to the exit and then you have to pay £3 to get out!!! This needs to be dealt with, there needs to be proper road surfaces and an organised exit system, maybe use the fee to pay for that?

The loos are not at an acceptable level of cleanliness, they need to be cleaned regularly throughout the day and the ones by the entrance are in a portacabin and smell really bad! Surely they can invest some of their profits in a properly built convenience?

They close the park at 6pm!! Queues for rides close at 5pm!! For what you pay I don't think this is good value! During summer months surely the park should stay open longer?

Ok so all in all a disappointing day out from an adults perspective, but the kids did seem to focus on the positives and enjoy themselves!

On a school report I would write in red pen, must try harder!!

Used Tesco days out for tickets - easy to use and glad I did as would’ve been very ‘irritated’ if the day had cost £100 for my son and I! Disappointed with rides, not many for us all to go on (kids aged 5-7, all 1.2 or under) sea life was tiny, Zoofari ride waste of a queue!! Skidded all the way out of the leopard field car park due to being on a hill and rain which along with cars churned up all the mud!. Quite ‘scared’ at one point, especially when pedestrians started to walk across the bit where the car was headed!! Kids enjoyed it, so was ok. Took picnic, saved £ there. Won’t bother to go again....

User

It was our first time going to chessington yesterday, don’t get me wrong we had a great time however for the money your spending on tickets/food and everything it was a little bit of a disappointment. Tiger rock kept braking down as so many other rides did. Hardly no shops were actually open (I know it was a Monday but still) , the signage is very very poor we had trouble finding toilets, me and my fiancé got really confused as to where everything was because of the poor signage.

I paid £3 for parking online and when we got there they directed us into another car park which meant I paid that £3 for nothing, may I add the car park had so many pot holes and again the signage was poor.

So a few things that could be improved other than them things it’s a good day out however I would recommend it more for a family with younger kids rather than teenagers

I took my daughter on an impromptu visit due to an inset day - Monday 17th September

I haven’t been for 8 years and unless my memory is shocking it all looks a bit sad and run down

Cost us £100 pounds despite booking online

The upside was definitely the lack of queues so we a huge number of rides for the money - the longest we queued throughout the whole day was 10 minutes so we literally went in everything 5-6 times

Tiger rock was barely working so we didn’t get to try this “new” ride and there was another major ride out if action

I wasn’t impressed with the signage or the food facilities but we made the best of the day

The customer service from staff was variable - shame I didn’t register the names of the good ones but sadly a huge number of rude, bored looking ones

I agree about the parking - when you’ve formed out the high cost of entrance fees there should big be additional parking costs OR the facilities should be super dooper plush

I had an average sort of day but my daughter and I certainly enjoyed the lack of queuing times

I don’t intend to go back again

User

First visit last year and the family enjoyed it, arrived yesterday to find sink in our room blocked, told reception who confirmed we would have a visit within 30 minutes, this did not happen so let reception know this morning who confirmed would have it sorted before we returned from the park but once again not done. Currently brushing teeth etc over the bath so we can rinse everything away. Very disappointed based on what it has cost to stay two nights 😔

User

What a massive disappointment today has been. The roads leading to the parking fields when you turned into the park were diabolical. SO many pot holes to avoid. No maps available other than at the entrance. Too bad if you don't realise straight away. Long waiting times are expected but to wait 2 for a 2 minute ride for it to then develop yet another fault and close just as you are about to get on is ridiculous. My 2 girls only managed to get on 3 rides the whole day. Rats in the animal cages, I understand this may happen but when you see almost as many rats as animals it's concerning! Rushed and forgetful staff at fiid counters. Nowhere to refill water bottles. .and the queues! Queuing required for everything, even the loo! Forget Chessington more like Queuington. The list could go on. Won't be wasting such a significant amount of money on that place again!

User

We visited yesterday (28/8) and considering they charge £3 per car to park the car park is in a right state! The queues are too long and it closes too early, we just about managed 5 rides which equates to about £5 each per ride....and it’s sooooo not worth it, wouldn’t go back.

User

Really disappointed, my little boy wasn’t tall enough by a CM so he wasn’t allowed on any rides, despite paying full price for him. Went into the grill house and no one served us but stood around chatting to each other even when we asked could we be served, so we just walked out. Then to top it all off we had to pay for parking! Definitely won’t be going again.

User

It was ok purley for the company I was with.. I would love Merlin to start looking at how other major theme parks manage queuing without ripping people off charging for fast passes is disgusting !!

One of the donut stands near the swings was the most disgusting food areas I have seen at a theme park am sure the toilet blocks where cleaner. Not acceptable Merlin !!

Won't be back to Chessington any time soon.

User

We went to Chessington on the 3rd August 18, for my son”s Birthday. Didn’t arrive until 1 due to traffic but still had to pay near £100 pounds to enter the park.

The night before I tried to book my tickets online using the code from the cereal pack only to find the same code is on all the Kellogg’s boxes so the only way to purchase the tickets was at the gate, so not able to access the discount offered online.

Upon entering few staff to welcome you to the park, was not offered a map was sent on goose chase to get one.

Tiger Rock was not working when we arrived, one of the hottest days of the year, when it did re-open obviously the queue would be long, when we finally got on the ride we found that the water levels were down so when you splashed down the two drops we came off the ride dry - such a disappointment after queuing for 55 mins for a two min ride.

We also noticed signage was not prominent nor clear to direct you to rides and exits.

The fact that we went in the summer months, I couldn’t understand why the park and rides closed so early, especially as it’s the school holidays and families are possibly travelling long distances, spending a substantial amount of money to get in, but due to the long queues may only manage 5-6 rides and still not get to see all the attractions.

It would be good for the park to have late night openings, at least 7-8pm as it is still light.

I would also mention the lack of water fountains around the park. Not everyone wants to drink fizzy drinks in hot weather and child and adults alike need to stay hydrated during the summer and whilst walking around the parks grounds. We also brought a refillable bottle but was not able refill as the carbonated machines were not working so more money wasted.

For the amount of money the park generates I was not impressed with the parking situation, could not find the disabled parking due to poor signage again and after navigating over really bad pothole riddled roads found myself parked in a field.

It has been many years since I have visited Chessington, and although you can see improvements have been made in some areas the park is looking tired.

Gruffalo ride was excellent and what we went for. However parking awful, we had two young children and their grandma with us so paid for express parking, the car park staff sent us round the wrong way twice - meaning we were late in the park and behind where we would have been with normal parking. Chicken shop food and service was awful.

Other than Gruffalo not much of quality for younger visitors.

Emailed about the poor service in food outlet and over parking - worst service / cafe team ever! Just said thanks for making them aware and they hoped that resolved my issue?! When I replied and said not really they basically said tough - there would be no refund / compensation.

Large company that simply doesn’t care

User

Got here at 10.30 have Queued for around 6 hours and spent approx 10 mins on rides. dragon ride keeps breaking down. Tomb raider lined up for 1 1/2 hours and was un aware it was broken down absolutely no communication. toilets are a joke have to queue almost as long as the rides to use. far to many people are allowed into the park with no consideration with how long queues will be! I totally expected to queue but not 6 hours for 3 rides. will not come back and would not recommended

User

Buy a fast pass before you get there - you will need it!! Most rides 55 minutes plus waiting times so if you do not have fast pass you will only have four rides maximum!! And - a lot of boredom time!! The fast track queues were minimal for rides it to purchase fast track tickets 30 mins waiting!! You have been warned! Lodge gate express parking easy access for £10 - cost you £3 anyway to park but you are lose to gate! Get there early - suggest Tiger Rock then Africa safari before queues build up then after that your fast track is your saviour! Eating is various specialist restaurants such as fish and chips/ burger bar/ smile house . Serious lack of just coffee places!! Staff very friendly and helpful. Try and get deals on entrance fees - if you have O2 phone then 50% reduction definitely worth having via O2 priority.

7th September 2017 we had the best time Glamping sooo much so that we paid over double the price to Glamp again on the same day this year.

Shame the standards have completely dropped!!!

Miserable staff at the Hotel Swimming Pool

Distracted Staff at the Glamping Base as they were dealing with a double booking we had to basically sort ourselves out

Entertainment Team were a couple of lads sat on the floor offering colouring out! Had to ask for the Gruffalo to come out (noway were those lads gunna put that suit on if we hadn’t of asked)

Last year all the staff made a HUGE deal that it was my daughters birthday, this year, even though I kept telling the staff there was no fuss at all.

And to top it all off I came home covered in Bed Bug Bites!!! Absolutely gutted that we paid all that money to give our daughter the birthday she asked for and we were completely let down by your staff.

I’ve emailed to discuss this with Chessington Holidays but obviously it was ignored!!!

User

User

User

User

User

However parking awful, we had two young children and their grandma with us so paid for express parking, the car park staff sent us round the wrong way twice - meaning we were late in the park and behind where we would have been with normal parking. Chicken shop food and service was awful.

Other than Gruffalo not much of quality for younger visitors.

Emailed about the poor service in food outlet and over parking - worst service / cafe team ever! Just said thanks for making them aware and they hoped that resolved my issue?! When I replied and said not really they basically said tough - there would be no refund / compensation.

Large company that simply doesn’t care

Got here at 10.30 have Queued for around 6 hours and spent approx 10 mins on rides. dragon ride keeps breaking down. Tomb raider lined up for 1 1/2 hours and was un aware it was broken down absolutely no communication. toilets are a joke have to queue almost as long as the rides to use. far to many people are allowed into the park with no consideration with how long queues will be! I totally expected to queue but not 6 hours for 3 rides. will not come back and would not recommended
