Well done to our kitchen team at Mandeville Grange Nursing Home who achieved a five star rating from the Food Standards Agency following their kitchen inspection.

This has to be our favourite photo from last month! It was taken at The Gables Nursing Home and shows the delightful Flori sporting her colourful Easter bonnet.
It was just one of many lovely memories created for residents by our activities co-ordinator Teresa as part of our Easter celebrations!

We are holding an open day at Cherry Tree Nursing Home on Saturday 21st April as part of the national care home open day initiative. Please join us between 12-4pm to meet the care team, take a look around the beautiful home, enjoy some refreshments and help us plant a community garden in our lovely grounds. Every summer we invite residents, staff, family and friends to enjoy what has become a highlight in the home’s calendar – the annual strawberry tea. Here's some pics of our latest one in July 2017. Homemade jam, cakes and other goodies made up a spread to be proud of and it was a pleasure to see everyone get together. A band played all afternoon and we sang and danced in the sun. We are proud that the annual strawberry tea has become a firm favourite with residents and this year didn’t disappoint. There’s a lot of planning to go into a day like this but to see the smiles on everyone’s faces, it’s worth it every time.

It’s always a pleasure to do our bit for local and national charities, and our bake sale for Age UK was no exception. Thanks to the generosity of staff, residents, family and friends we raised £435 for the national charity which runs programmes across the country to support the elderly. Days like this are a win win! Not only do the residents love having the local community in to the home, but we also get to do our bit for a great cause.

We find there’s nothing better than a furry friend to brighten up all our days – and for the residents at Mandeville Grange, it’s no different. We have a regular programme of bringing well-trained, friendly and affectionate dogs in to the home and they are always a favourite with residents. A lot of us have pets growing up and as an adult, and it should be no different for older people. The love and affection they bring is heart-warming to see and their presence also helps stimulate people who remember their own pets and talk about them fondly.

We were absolutely delighted to open the new wing at Cherry Tree in January 2017. It’s a beautiful and welcome addition to the home enabling us to welcome more residents in to a lovely space. We’ve created 10 new rooms, all furnished to the highest standard. The jewel in the new crown must be our fabulous conservatory which overlooks the landscaped gardens with views out to the ornamental pond. It’s a great place to watch the world go by :)
