Yet another fun time was had on Sunday here at Claremont Gardens

As a family we love it here and visit at all different times of the year.

What a fab end to October half term with a trail of pumpkins (50p is a great price when you have more than one child as many places charge £2 plus) with a selection of stickers for completing the quiz which the children loved (age 6 & 10)

We will back again soon no doubt

Children are hoping there will be a Christmas trail

User

We had a great time here walking our dogs on Saturday making the most Of The sun shine and day off it's such a lovely place we stopped and had a drink and cake after walking round the first time then we walked it again our dogs needed a sleep when we got back to crawley think we will be going there again making the most of our national trust membership

User

This is truly an amazing garden, the colours are fantastic at the moment and if you want to take your dog out you can from 1st October to 31st March. Lovely cafe, small shop, portaloos at the moment as the permanent facilities are being refurbished. Small on site car park, but additional parking across the road. Wonderful staff!

User

The grounds Are amazing and beautifully kept, the only thing that let it down was the cafe.

It was a very hot day and the cafe had run out of ice cream and no delivery which meant a lot of upset children and a piece of cake that was so dry we had to take it back

User

Lovely relaxing place to be sat round the lake in a Deck chair with my husband all afternoon have taken our grandchildren here before and they loved the forest and loved the play area as well great place well looked after

User

Idyllic and quintessentially English. Many families gathering on Father's Day and the vintage cars on show gave it a nice touch. The cakes from the cafe were delicious and we brought some heather honey to take home. I'm looking forward to our next visit [and to those other NT's in this area] imminently.

User

I visit Claremont park very often since it's so close to my house. It relaxes my mind, I have a walk, then sit and enjoy the ducks, geese, a beautiful black swan, and mist of all the changes of the seasons. Lovely place.

User

Had a super few hours here yesterday with my husband.very peaceful and beautiful.the staff at the kiosk were very helpful and gave us several leaflets on other national trust places.we are members and it's lovely to be able to pop to these beautiful places.had a tea and sausage roll after our walk and found the many wild birds amazing how close they get to you. Will visit again.

User

Charming place with lots of exciting options for children: nice playground, the net of mysterious paths actoss the forest, wooden play area, ducks, boat hire, view points, for my boys even the cafe with risen terrace is an attraction! There is also plenty if space, away from the lake, to play your own game like badminton etc.

User

Beautiful grounds, lovely to take a stroll. We also took a picnic and enjoyed sitting by the lake while eating our lunch. Despite being fairly busy it didn't seem crowded and was lovely to watch and hear younger children having fun outside. They were no distraction to us and everyone we saw looked relaxed and happy. Staff very welcoming & friendly in cafe. Nice cup of tea and hot chocolate. We visited on a Sunday afternoon about 2pm and there were spaces in car park.

We wanted a relaxed afternoon and that is what we had in Claremont. When reading through the comments, there seems to be an issue over car parking; however I note from literature and internet that this is quite clearly stated. And one has to realise that due to the location of some properties there is limited space for cars with not much that can be done.

Also for some things there is a charge, so if going to anywhere with kids especially during holidays, it is worth a quick look on the website which gives info of charges for activities which may be extra.

And finally - the cafe. People must realise that food & drink will be of a certain cost as the money must pay for staff, supplies etc and and so will be high. This should be expected, and I feel that complaining about these costs is a little unfair. As for running out of ice cream - this is disappointing but surely again one should realise that a hot day will generate more sales of ice cream and getting an extra delivery at short notice may not be possible.

Most of the NT properties rely on volunteers but the costs of maintaining NT places rely on membership, entry fees and sales in cafe & shops so please remember this before complaining about something that may not be possible or easy to change as that isn't fair.

User

Beautiful gardens and always a quiet spot can be found to admire the natural beauty of this place. Great with my national trust membership I can pop in for a relatively short time. I've never had a problem with parking although at some times of the day it is busy. Lovely place and always good to finish with a hot drink and cake in the cafe. Great playground for when my baby is older.

User

Beautiful Park, stunning landscape.I had a lovely picture taken of me and a friend a while back. There seems to be a man's face in the tree behind us.It seems you may have some permanent residents in the park.

User

Amazing and great for the kids

User

Always a delight to visit Claremont

Wonderful short, medium and long walks, strenuous climbs up hill, places to sit down and rest & enjoy the view

Lots of regular walkers who are friendly and chatty

Steeped in history with lists of interesting information cards in benches

Interesting play area and picnic area

Staff fabulous, can't do enough for you

Cafe with great coffee, sandwiches & soup

Never a problem with parking mid-week

Been a member at Claremont for 25 years

Thankyou to all the volunteers and Nat Trust employees who make Claremont the fabulous space it is

User

We have visited Claremont several times, it's nice for a short walk, like the wildlife and the lake, not so good when the ground is very wet and so many children when we visited yesterday, mind you guess thats our fault ,now my children are grown up forget about Summer holidays and also Claremont have activities for them for 6wks. The parking is always a bit of a problem , but my husband has blue badge now so we have been lucky on our last few visits.

User

Other than being made to feel like a complete idiot when I declined the annual membership at the reception desk, it was thoroughly enjoyable and a beautiful place! I assume that the employees are on some sort of commission to get new members, but they shouldn't put unnecessary pressure on visitors once they have declined. Exactly the same thing happened to The person behind me in queue.

We got that relatively early and had no issue parking. Nice day out.

User

Loved the grounds... such a beautiful space and a walk round the lake on a warm Sunday was relaxing and fun. Car park was an issue but happy to accept that if everyone parked in One space per car. Cafe was awful, again due to a busy day and as previous mentioned by another review no ice cream and paper cups only due to the lack of staff. Will definitely visit again but will try to avoid the cafe.

User

It's a great place to spend a few hours walking around. We got the 715 bus from Kingston which stops right outside. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The grounds are good to explore and it is nice to go off the beaten path too. There are some great views, especially from the top of the ampitheatre. Highly recommended.

User

We love Claremont and always have a great time when we visit. There are two things that trouble me though. The parking however is a real issue. It's full in no time and staff advise visitors to use the car park across the road. I used the car park across the road yesterday and when walking back from the car park to Claremont we had to walk in the road as there is no pavement and then cross the main road which is absolutely terrifying with two children(4&6) There has to be some improvement with parking here, or at least crossing the busy road. It's the one thing that makes a relaxing visit incredibly stressful. I have never visited and parked easily, it makes me want to visit Ham House or Poledon Lacey instead.

Also, I was astounded that we were asked to pay for the trail and arts and crafts yesterday. We visited Ham House on Monday and did these things and more for free. I felt yesterday that the school holidays were a bonus monkey making opportunity for Claremont when other properties are happy to do it for free. Disappointing.
