Clay Pigeon Raceway Description
The Clay Pigeon Racway was founded in the late 1950's early 1960's on a disused Second World War Military Hospital site. The original track was built by joining the hut (ward) concrete bases together with tarmac to make a 500 metre track. The Blandford Karting Club was formed and a Roval Automobile Club Permit was obtained and the first "official" race took place on Sunday 5th May 1963.
Shortly after this first race meeting the Bath Karting Club assumed the responsibility of organising RACMSA race meetings.
In the early 1970's the Clay Pigeon Kart Club was formed and has continued to organise and promote MSA race meetings at Clay, leasing the circuit for 14 days a year from a long list of owners of the circuit. Neil Hann was chairman in the early years and he and his volunteers extended the circuit to the 815 metres that it is today.
In the mid 1980's Ian Rennison joined the commitee of the Clay Pigeon Kart Club and togeter with Neil Hann, Trevor Brown, John Donovan, Colin Clark (and later Ron Davies) were responsible for saving the circuit in 1989 when the owners Lane Racing Ltd went into liquidation. They formed Chelborough Ltd, who purchased the freehold of the circuit to maintain MSA racing in this area.
The circuit was in a poor state and once the trade tennants of the circuit were removed in 1994 improvements to the circuit were started - new fencing, track widened and totally resurfaced, tarmac pit areas etc. The club erected a new clubhouse followed by a new lap scorers hut and new scrutineering facilities.
The circuit has now become a seven days a week business organising arrive and drive hire karts, Corporate events, practice and hosting most major championships that tour Britain.
Recently Chelborough Ltd (the Circuit owners) has come under control of Southern Counties Leisure who now own all the leisure facilities around the circuit including the new 39 room George Albert Hotel and new improvements to the circuit and it facilities are on the way including a new purpose built Clubhouse and corporate area.
The future is bright for the Clay Pigeon Kart Circuit and Clay Pigeon Kart Club.

For all of you who are unsure whether to come testing on Saturday or stay home and watch the football then good news, we have the solution, we are showing the big game on the screens in the cafe so now you won’t have to miss a thing.
Here at Clay Pigeon Raceway we are running a mini series of Hire Kart races throughout the summer. These races consist of a 20 minute Qualifying session followed by a 1 hour race. These races are a team event in which each team must complete a minimum of 3 pit stops where they can change drivers. There will be a maximum grid of 16 teams. Entries are filling up fast so get your teams entry in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

We've raced here now for 7 years with clay pigeon kart club and before that with the arrive and drive endurance races stretching back over 20 years. Great racing and family atmosphere... made even better with the new clubhouse, restaurant and bar.
We visited on Sunday just gone with a group of 15. Fantastic event from start to finish. The track layout is incredible, karts were spot on and staff very friendly.
Price was also reasonable for outdoors, we can not wait to come back.

This club deserves every support where ever possible. It's really improved the facilties and is very very very good. The people who run it are very helpful and are very friendly. Everywhere I go i try to encourage people to use this track as it deserves the support. Other tracks should take a note of these efforts. I rate this 5 star. Many thanks
The best kart circuit in the uk! Very fast with great kart shop and clubhouse serving hot food and drinks.
The Fact I've been coming here for over 2 decades shows what a fantastic Track it is. We are proud to call Clay the home circuit for ONE Motorsport
Not much more you can ask from a kart circuit, lovely track, good facilities and staff, the shop on site is probably one of the most helpful shops I have been in!

Literally one of, if not the best kart circuits in the country...a good fast undulating track, with a good selection of turns... Friendly staff and management, good onsite facilities too including a fully stocked kart shop....the hire kart series are really good fun, with a mix of all abilities...
If you want to drive a propper kart race circuit that runs arrive and drive karts this Is the place defenetly the best one I've driven.
I just try the karting and its was really fun. The track is fast and the current state of karts are really good. Also they give me all the security equipment and a copy of my telemetry in the end off the season. I recommend you coming :)

I Am an overseas competiter from Guernsey Channel islands . I raced Clay last season and could not fault one bit . Awesome runs events all year . It not cheap to cross the Channel a fair few times a year . But well worth every penny seeing the friendly / Helpfull people at Clay . See Ya next round .
Had a great time, everyone is friend and polite. The staff let you get on and enjoy yourself. Can get some speed up and a print out of your split lap times. Well recommended.
Great value for money. Nice staff, decent karts and one of the best tracks in the country! I started my competitive racing in the hire kart series - brilliant fun, friendly and challenging with all walks from top drivers to first timers :).
Great track, super facilities including new cafe which serves very tasty food of all types. Very friendly staff too

A great track & great staff. Very friendly people there. Been karting since 2007 & bought our own kart. Kart shop is great. Helped us so many times when we were first starting. A great day out :)
A great place to practice, race or watch close kart racing. The circuit is run by some great poeple and everyone will help if they can. I recomend Clay for anyone in the South and West that is thinking of starting karting, as there are 2 levels run at the circuit, IKR for none MSA licence holders and Clay Pigion Kart Club MSA race meetings.
On the first weekend of June this Year Clay will be holding a round of the Britsh Super 1 Karting Championship.
