A member of the public has brought it to our attention that slug pellets have been placed around trees on The Parade, please be extra vigilant when walking your dogs, even small amounts can cause significant poisoning and severe signs, including incoordination, tremors and convulsions, which can occur within an hour.

Ticks 😱 not only are they creepy but they can be dangerous and act as vectors for diseases such as Lymes disease (borreliosis). As the ‘tick season’ is well and truly upon us do make sure your pets are up to date with anti-parasitic treatment. Remember to thoroughly check their coats frequently, particularly after walks. If you do find some, be sure to use tick tweezers to get them off, if you’re not confident in doing so, do drop by and one of the team will show you!
Don’t forget to check yourself too😰

My last day would be the 31st of May - Friday, and if you would like to see me off or make sure am gone for good, please join me for a drink at the Platform 3, from 7:00 PM.
... Hope to see as many of you as possible!

Home care for the elderly This is the time, more than any other, when your cat needs some essential care. As cats get older they will find it more difficult to maintain their own cleanliness and checking your cat regularly will enable you to detect problems that need to be tackled straight away.
Claw trimming For example, check your cat’s nails weekly. Elderly cats are less able to retract their claws and they may get caught in furniture and carpets. They can also overgrow a...

Cats are living much longer now than was the case 20 years ago, thanks to better nutrition, veterinary and home care.
In recent years, feline ages and life-stages have been redefined, cats are considered to be elderly once they reach 11 years with senior cats defined as those aged between 11-14 years and geriatric cats 15 years and upwards. When caring for older cats it sometimes helps to appreciate their age in human terms.
The formula for calculating the equivalent age is f...airly simple:
the first two years of a cat’s life equate to 24 human years and every year thereafter is equivalent to 4 human years. For example, a 16 year old cat would be equivalent to an 80 year old human.

So, last Monday - 14th Jan, member of the public brought in to our practice a young daxi. Owners were found and would like to extend their thanks to that person - unfortunately we do not have any idea of that person's identity - so if it was you, would you mind giving us a shout so we could pass it to the owner - if you don't mind of course. Thank you!
