Wouldn't be Christmas without a visit here. I have three beautiful Christmas trees all bought here and decorations to. When I visit I can't help my self and buy something new each time

Won the competition on Facebook for afternoon tea which I must say was absolutely delicious x great selection of sandwiches x beautiful fresh scones x trifle mini cakes and cupcake all were gorgeous x the staff were fantastic showed us to the table which was beautifully dressed x staff were so attentive asking if everything was ok and if we would like more tea and coffee x and even gave us a bag to take our food home that we couldnвАЩt eat x I would recommend clays for an afternoon tea for their excellent food and service x thank you so much for a lovely afternoon xxx

Went for afternoon tea with my sisters today and was beautiful! Food was all so tasty, was fresh and plentiful tea, and cannot fault the staff so attentive, will definitely be back!

We just went for coffee and a cake and apart from the coffee being way too hot, it was a pleasant experience

Visited the cafe today with the ladies for afternoon tea. Outstanding! The staff were brilliant, very attentive without being intrusive, the food was delicious and the filter coffee was excellent. The table was set in a secluded area with mismatched vintage style crockery. We weren't hurried out and had a lovely afternoon catching up. We'll definitely be back again. Excellent value for money!

The garden centre is really well stocked with lots of plants and tools as you'd expect but also lots of quirky, pretty things that end up in your basket (especially at Christmas). Got my Christmas tree here in the sale last year and I absolutely love it!

Visited on Sunday (5th November) for the first time. Amazing selection of Christmas decorations, ornaments and window displays plus garden plants/fairy garden ornaments etc. Lovely selection of food and cake available in the cafe and very good quality. We all enjoyed it. Definitely visit again.

Purchased a Xmas tree yesterday, unfortunately some of the lights were not working rang store great customer service, within a half an hour David came to the house and fixed the fault really exceptional service thank you Clays.

Proud to be related to the Clay family from Tyne and Wear England. I remember the gardens when my grandfather and grandmother lived on Hillside Gardens in the early 50's as he worked with my Uncle Bert Clay. Memories I will never forget. So many changes over the past 60 + yrs but always a memorable visit at the Clay Garden Centre.

One of the best afternoon teas I have had, staff very friendly and attentive without being over the top, will definitely be back.

Norma meek friendly staff wonderfull pleasant atmosphere to have a meal I would say there scampi salad is the best meal for under a fiver in the North east

Need to say a massive thank you to the gentleman who is one of the directors, it was just about closing time today and I had been with my daughter in pooch for a milkshake which my daughter loves, my car would not start needed a battery for the key bit as was keep putting the immobilizer on. Anyways I asked if they had any batteries to which he said no but don't worry and the other lady owner said we will get you sorted, he drove me to three places in eventually at the last place horray had the little tiny battery I needed. But in the mean time as we were only at first going up the road I left my 11 year old daughter in dog in the car with all windows down just incase anyone was to ask. However we needed to go further to get a battery in he rang ahead in manager got my daughter in dog out the car in took them into the store just there was lads hanging around. I honestly can't thank the staff enough I was nearly in tears the guy kept saying honest not a problem in not to worry they are safe in we will get you sorted. Once bk at store the car started with new battery in staff came out with daughter in dog. They are not only hard working people but very kind in generous what they did for me there is genuine heroes in this world still in to me i thank you once again in sorry for the big hug I felt I needed to thank you. I'm just sorry I didn't get their names пњљпњљ

My favourite place to go on a day off . Always have a good range of things for my fairy garden

My best friend and I had a wonderful lunch there today. The soup was OUT OF THIS WORLD and all of the salad bar ingredients were fresh and tasty. What a hidden gem the kitchen at ClayвАЩs has become. Great job Shannon, Eric, Darlene and Billy!

Me and my hubs had afternoon tea here and it was scrumptious! Lovely fresh, selection of sandwiches, quiche, Cheese scone and butter, Fruit scone with jam and cream, a lovely selection of cakes and a huge pot of tea each .As always, all of the staff are lovely, friendly and attentive. Thanks to Michelle and the team! it was fabulous.

Love our visits here - everything is so accessible for my mam in her wheelchair, the staff are so friendly, helpful, polite and courteous (especially the gentleman who helped carry our purchases out to the car today). I love the range of products, gifts as well as growing things! I particularly enjoy being able to get appropriate Christmas cards for my son and his male partner (as long as you get them early!) as they are so rare to find!

Well worth a visit, and stop for a cuppa and a sandwich in the cafe!

I have been visiting Clays since 1980 and have to say it's always been a favourite as my children grew up x watching and waiting for seasonal displays, especially Christmas x

I now have the joy of taking my granddaughter x

Had afternon tea here 2day with friends and family and was AMAZING...staff were great and the food was lush would defo recommend пњљпњљпњљ

Fab customer service, lovely food at a good price. Cakes looked lovely but just had breakfast today. Plenty of space in the cafe and easily accessible around the garden centre. Good selection of garden plants etc as well as gift section:)

Clays always definitely put me in a christmas mood,, very well decorated at this time of the year,, well worth a visit x

Been for afternoon tea today in the cafe and IвАЩve got to say this is the best afternoon tea in the area! ItвАЩs all fresh homemade food and so tasty, the staff are really friendly and canвАЩt do enough to ensure you enjoy your visit, my sister was in a wheelchair and they made sure we had plenty of space and any refills we needed. Special thank you all staff who looked after us today as they are all so polite and friendly and kept checking in on us to make sure we enjoyed it, and we did! We even got to take some home for later which was all wrapped up neatly and brought to our table. This is the second time we have been and IвАЩm sure it wonвАЩt be the last. Thank you all x

Very comprehensive choice of Christmas baubles as usual, but no Christmas tree storage bags - thatвАЩs not an issue though, weвАЩve got one now, and our shopping experience was brilliant

Nice place. Cafe was erythromycin clean and pleasant, although been charged 30p for a squirt of cream on each piece of pie/cake I think is a little tacky. Not the sort of thing to make you rush back!

I had a fruit scone that was to die for - wonderful. I asked for a latte with half shot but unfortunately it was still very strong and bitter.

I dropped in when passing, and was amazed that a 21st Century garden centre is still what a garden centre should be - full of plants, seeds, tools etc. No random tat! Just what I've been looking for all these years!



Inside, the aisles are neatly laid out, well signposted, clean, with no clutter. Other garden centres could learn from that.



The house plant section is reasonably small, but full of colour and variety - just what a garden centre *should* be selling in February.



I'll have to pop back when the outdoor section is in full swing. Hopefully then I can give the place 5 stars.

the garden centre was lovely but very very disappointed that they DID not pay respect to the 2 minute silence on the 11/11 at 1100hrs first time ive known this . otherwise a lovely place.
