Club Silencio

About Club Silencio

Brighton's most mysterious, seductive and immersive queer theatre group.

Welcome to the always strange and satirical world of Club Silencio. It’s run by queer people for queer people and it’s unapologetically weird.

You might think Club Silencio has been QUITE strange before, but our Britney special is...well...SOMETHING ELSE.
Can't wait to see you this Thursday to kick off Brighton Pride with style! Doors from 8pm, show starts at 9pm!
As well as our show we'll have star turns from The Queer Historian, Dark Room Life Drawing with Misha MN and a chance to have your picture taken with Britney herself!

On the eve of her headline set at Brighton Pride, the Silencio gang exclusively reveal what REALLY happened leading up to the release of Britney's opus, BLACKOUT.
It's DEFINITELY not what you think.
The fancy dress theme is 1990s REALNESS. Combat pants, Cher Horowitz, MC Hammer, 90210, Saved By the Bell, Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys.
... It'll be a 90s pop party all night so you can kick off your 2018 Pride weekend in superlatively weird style!

No Silencio in January :(
BUT our Krispy Klown, Stuart Warwick, is going FULL Day-Lewis in a production of TRUE WEST at the New Venture Theatre, Brighton, 19-27 January.
Sam Shepherd was the inspo behind last year's All-American Apocalypse. They're very similar, except this one has no giant cockroach or incest twins :(
... Tickets available now! See you there, kids.

SCARY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
We've been pestered all year and we've relented! Yes, we're brushing off the tinsel and doing our very special version of the nativity once more, only this time it's BIGGER and BETTER and WEIRDER than last year!
Join the Silencio Squad and their puppet friends for a night of music, theatre and mayhem.
... Prizes for best fancy dress as ever...the theme is CHRISTMAS IS NAFF. "Sexy" santas, "naughty" elves, novelty jumpers, fake Furbys. The crapper the better. Have fun!

Words cannot convey.... Awesome and deranged in the best possible way

The only night of its kind in Brighton (ok probably the only night of its kind anywhere). Equal parts weird, funny, silly, sexy, and smart. Every show is a one-time-only affair so you never want to miss it.

THE BEST THING EVER TO HAPPEN TO BRIGHTON

User

Really talented, really disturbing people. My favourite kind of night.

User

I may just be a tad biased, but what's not to love about the mercurial talents of the Silencio team?

The whole panoply of tragedy and comedy enacted monthly (ish) for Brighton's queer and queer-friendly masses.

And it's quite funny sometimes.

User

Hands down my favourite event in Brighton! I look forward to it every month

From the one-eyed automaton that collects your money at the door and the charming gimps and eccentric congregation you find gathered inside, to the sort of floor show you might find on a ferry journey across the Styx, this is cabaret with a difference; This is Club Silencio. Created by the singer Stuart Warwick, Club Silencio proves a perfect home for his two (often estranged) geniuses of music and comedy. In the persona of an electrifying dead club singer he karaoke sang his way through Nat King Cole and alternative Bond themes in that beautiful voice that we all know so well whilst hosting a night of genuine whimsy and delight. There was life-drawing in a candle-lit dungeon which you enter through a curtain of chains, there was live poetry in the toilet and surreal, nightmarish ‘advertising breaks’ (which made my face ache from laughing). There was also the soulful brilliance of Mary Hampton (no cheesy token jazz singer at this cabaret) who wooed the gimps with her mesmerising folk songs. I can’t speak for the world, nor even for Brighton but Club Silencio is certainly something that I have been crying out for. It’s been promised as a monthly event, the next one is on the 13th of January and you’d be an absolute fool not to go. Me? I’m holding my breath and keeping my fingers crossed that this one is going to run and run. Wonderful.

Creative, subversive and uproariously funny.
