Cmd Design Ltd Description

Here at CMD Design, we do things a little differently to most. We're property design consultants who help our clients to transform their home into something that little bit special! We undertake all manner of design works, from kitchens to extensions, lease-plans to office interiors and loft conversions to new-builds, we pride ourselves on good design skills, which we blend with creative imagination, good technical knowledge and an ability to think "outside of the box" to deliver spectacular end results.

Being independent allows us to source kitchen elements from across the market, so whether you're looking for cabinetry (from laminated chipboard to solid-wood), appliances (from budget brands like Indesit to high-spec companies like Britannia), worktops (from laminate through the granite, quartz and Corian) and an enormous range of sinks, taps and accessories, we can find the right kitchen package to suit you - and what's more; we offer a free initial design visit and will be able to project manage the whole process whilst it's fitted by one of our carefully selected teams of craftsmen.

Why not call us today to see how we could help YOU create the home of your dreams; you never know, it may be easier than you thought. . .

We received a lovely testimonial from the fantastic Abbie Dayton at Creating Harmony interiors for some drawing work that we did for them recently... yet ANOTHER satisfied customer!
If YOU know of anyone that ever needs measured surveys or drawings doing for them, please feel free to put them in touch!

Here's another lovely kitchen that we recently completed for a client in Farnborough that they're over the moon with!
This kitchen is quite deceptive: the worktops (which look like solid wood) are in fact custom made laminates with a bespoke radiussed factory edging applied (so not an iron-on edging strip in sight!). This gives the client the look of solid wood tops, but without the staining, warping & twisting that often comes with them if they're not maintained properly.
T...he textured oak cashmere coloured shaker doors (which look to have the heavy solid quality feel of solid oak), are in fact foil-wrapped and came in at a fraction of the price!
All in all, this kitchen came in at well under £10K... proving that good quality DOESN'T have to be expensive!
Don't just take our word for it - here's what our client had to say about what we did for them:
"I asked Chris at CMD design if he could design and supply a new kitchen for my house, he initially arranged a convenient time to visit where he sat down with my wife and they designed the layout of the kitchen, he put forward ideas to utilise the space to it's maximum efficiency and we were happy with the design. He then supplied detailed drawings via e-mail so we could see what the kitchen would look like. He then visited again and spent several hours going through the colour scheme, appliances options and every other detail you could think of. He then submitted a couple of quotes and we chose a kitchen. He dealt with the suppliers and arranged for the deliveries to our property. He then checked through to make sure everything was okay when it arrived and dealt with a couple of issues we had effectively and quickly.
The finished kitchen is brilliant, my wife is so pleased, he even came around when it was finished and checked everything to ensure it was all fitted correctly.
I would have no hesitation recommending Chris and CMD design to anyone that is looking for a new kitchen.
Thanks Again
Matthew & Leanne"

This client in Redhill came to us with an existing single storey extension that had lots of un-necessary internal walls that just made the smaller spaces difficult to use.
We dealt with their permitted development and building control applications & helped them to create an absolutely stunning open-plan kitchen / dining / living space which has made a fantastic addition to their home! They're delighted with the end result & it's completely transformed the way they live in the property!
If YOU know of anyone who'd like something similar in their own home, then please feel free to share this with them or put them in touch!

Looking to extend your home in time for the summer? Well if so then you'd better get your skates on, as with the standard design & approval process taking approximately 6-7 months*, an instruction now would usually mean you'd be starting your build around May /June time and be finished around August / September. These things can take time, and there are lots of potential implications to consider - many of which are covered in our FREE architectural guide. If you know of anyon...e who's thinking of extending their home, get them to give us a call and we'll happily send them a copy!
*design & approval process (number if weeks shown in brackets) would usually entail:
Measured survey / drawing creation (2) Design process / planning drawings (2) Planning application (8) Building control drawings (2) Structural engineering calcs (3) Building Control application (4) Party Wall awards (3) Quote gathering / tender process (4) Builder lead times (4)
Total: 32 weeks, potentially less if you "fast trak" things or your extension falls under permitted development... soon adds up, doesn't it?

Who says kitchens, extensions and football don't mix? Here's a little patriotic fun football related work presentation that we had great fun doing on Friday at our BNI local recommended business group last week... COME ON ENGLAND!!! 😀 😀 😀

This was a fairly straightforward garage conversion, adding a much needed downstairs office & utility room to create additional family space. It fell under permitted development (so didn't require planning permission), but still needed a full set of plans submitted to building control, and has made a huge change to the way the space gets used.
If YOU know anyone thinking of converting their garage, extending their home, or updating their kitchen, then please feel free to share this post with them, or get them to give us a call on 07957 690033 & we'll be more than happy to help.

So this week, we had a client who decided a while back NOT to go with us for their kitchen project contact us some time later for advice after their kitchen worktops from another supplier went horribly wrong. Whilst we could've told them "where to go“, we didn't (coz we're nice like that!) & gave them some useful advice that will hopefully get them out of the hole they've found themselves in! So the lesson of the story when ordering granite is this:
Granite is a NATURAL mater...ial, and most suppliers will have T's & C's that discharge them from responsibility if the colour, shading or veining end up varying from the samples that you've been shown. Also bear in mind that poorer quality slabs may well have big miscoloured blotches & veins running through them (hence why the material is usually cheap), so it's important to go with reputable suppliers.
Also, when fitting / templating it's worth remembering that kitchen walls are hardly ever completely straight, so having small gaps to the rear of your worktops can be quite common if they've not been templated properly. Often having 100mm upstands (backfilled with a colour matched decorators caulk) can solve this problem, but your kitchen / granite company should explain all of this to you beforehand... not all of them do though!
So if you know of anyone who's looking for a new kitchen who wants it done properly at the first time of asking, get them to call in the local experts with over 15 years experience in the industry (that'd be us by the way!) so they can have a guiding hand there to help ensure that their dream kitchen project doesn't turn into a nightmare...

So we saw a prospective client this week who was adamant that he didn't need to pay for the services of an architect for his extension! Hmmm...
Well the guy on the link below probably thought the same for his new-build project in Reigate and just ploughed on ahead without any for of knowledge of planning or building control policy - and as a result the courts ordered that his £1m home had to be demolished! So he's now £1,000,000 out of pocket for the sake of saving a few gran...d in architectural fees which would've made sure it was done properly & compliantly in the first place!
Whilst this is an extreme case, neighbours can often fall out during building projects, and if due processes aren't adhered to, they can end up going to court to try and take out injunctions to have your building works stopped - whatever stage you're at... and every homeowner who faces it always set out thinking it would never happen to them! These court proceedings can involve long delays, large legal costs and are incredibly stressful!
So to make sure that YOUR architectural projects don't end up becoming an absolute nightmare, pleas feel free to drop us a line for a copy of our FREE architectural guide and we'll help ensure that your project runs as smoothly and is as stress-free as possible...
