User

We were there both days, first time at Common People and both me and my son thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We loved the atmosphere, the music, we especially loved The Jacksons and James. Yes the food and drink was expensive but that did not stop us from having a great time. Big thank you to the guy who was teaching my son dance moves whilst watching The Jacksons, it made my sons night!! We hope to be back again next year 😍

It was amazing had such a lovely time with family but my phone got taken a Samsung galaxy s8 with a phone cover with r h on the back and a love heart in the middle of the letters please if anyone has or knows about the phone please give it back I have all of my family contact numbers that all live in Wales and most of all I use it for work

Great to have this on our doorstep and just what Oxford needs. I guess the line up wasn’t as ‘chart friendly’ as last year but a good opportunity to watch a band/artist you may not have seen or even heard of before. Ride and James were great live, saw Craig Charles at the Carnival Soundsystem, spent some time at the Uncommon Stage and in Pig’s Big Ballroom. Good selection of food stalls (loved the paella) and yes drinks are expensive but that didn’t come as a surprise.

Gin festival and craft beer bar were great additions (don’t recall seeing them last year).

Personally I think £35 per ticket is a good price when you take into account the whole line up (not just the headliners) and the food and drink available.

Organisers have to try and mix things up every year but you can’t please everyone unfortunately.

Look forward to Common People 2019!

User

Went on 27th, great festival, no merchandise (event shirts etc) to purchase which was a bit disappointing, hence 4/5.

User

I had the most amazing day yesterday. People are saying the line-up was rubbish but you'll never please everybody! It was worth the money for James alone, as they were absolutely awesome!!!

User

Had such a good weekend the sunday was soo much better that the saturday all round just seemed to have more music on in the day saturday i felt like we was walking around for some decent music and to not give weekend tickets wrist band or anythin (because u did last year) is a joke bein told on arrival to keep hold of your tickets for the followin day and when tild if u were to lose them could we get in with the email conformation said no we would have to buy another one for the the Sunday this needs to b sorted!!!

But all round had a wicked weekend x

Good festival. The jacksons were amazing. Stayed for both days. Drinks were overpriced but at the same it is oxford so can’t expect much else. Would go again. The smell of weed everywhere was also a slight negative especially with the volume of children and a lack of shaded areas however the children section had good shade. Toilets weren’t too bad all things considered and they were cleaned frequently which was great. Will go next year

User

Enjoyed Saturday at Oxford, good mix of music, entertainment (acrobats), food and drink. One gripe was the "Festival Soundsystem" (disco moshpit towards the back) had the base boost turned up so much it interfered with the sound from the main stage.

User

As the sun set and thunder clouds filled the sky, a stranger smiled at me. I was stood in a park in the middle of Oxford, I had my little girl on my shoulders, my wife and son by my side. Singing and dancing to Nothing But Love by James, a song they had heard me play in the car or in the kitchen. This was their first festival, the atmosphere was electric. Festivals are not about the over priced beer or expensive food, they are about sharing a moment, and this was one I will remember for the rest of my life.

User

A good first day - although the Sunday lineup is much more my thing.

Two main gripes: massively overpriced bar (£6.50 a pint unless you want the cooking-lager for £5.50); and, once again, no bike parking.

User

Thank you common people, we all, my family and friends had a really great time over both days. And the band's and musicians were all excellent. I even thought that the ticket prices were affordable for this type of event.

However, I do also have cause for complaint, I was extremely disappointed people were not allowed to bring in their own food i.e. picnics. I am a single parent on a low income and struggle on a weekly basis financially. I was not really bothered about not being able to take in picnic until I gained entry and saw the cost of everything especially the price for a plate of pasta was £7 and a cheese toastie for £5. And basically by not allowing people to bring their own food and making them spend money on over priced not very good food is extortion, and I think this has to be reviewed as I over heard various conversations complaining about this. Oh and thank you for allowing my child to go hungry all day as I couldn't afford your food prices that's why I brought a picnic.

User

Really enjoyed last year, but this year we just felt we were queuing for the toilets or queuing for drinks, that was from 2pm and I'm sure there were not as many toilets as last year and didn't see anybody cleaning them and replacing the loo roll or hand sanitizer.Great atmosphere but just feel when you know you've got more people attending than last year then more toilets and staff required and some kind of queuing system in place. Will give it a miss next year. Also noticed strong smells of weed and many underage drinkers.

User

Music great but food overpriced, bar a rip off £5 for a pint of Coke from the pump, VIP area rubbish - promised us seats and bar service. Only good thing in there was the toilets. Not really matching its name of common people

User

Just arrived.. not muddy at all. And you can bring in soft drink bottles as long as they are sealed x

User

First time at Common People and bought a weekend ticket. Saturday I found it really busy, long queue's for the toilets (about 30-45min) and bar (about 30min). Price for food and drink were a bit on the expensive side. Whilst I appreciate festivals will be like this, having been to previous festivals before, this one didn't come across as well-organised. One thing that stood out was the obvious drug taking, you could smell the weed literally. There was hardly any on-site security! Saturday got ruined for me when being confronted (and followed) by a druggie on-site, it would've been reassuring to have security you can turn to for help, but there was nothing as they were all outside the venue. I left quickly due to this missing Sean Paul.

Sunday felt a little better (probably due to many negative comments about Saturday) and I wanted to stay and enjoy Pete Tong's set until the end.

Overall, the music/acts were very good but personally, due to a lack of security on site I didn't feel very safe. Most likely I will not be returning for Common People next year!

User

Festival itself was great, but utterly appalled at the lack of disabled facilities. I had arranged accessible parking but the school where I was directed to was a very long walk from the site along an overgrown field with no paths or a steep hill. Totally inaccessible and will have caused pain and distress to a lot of disabled people. I was told there had been a shuttle on Saturday but not on Sunday. There was a great, flat area right behind the main stage that could have been used - why wasn't it? Please consult with @Attitude Is Everything next time.

User

We went to this last year and the line up was amazing and had a really great time, not very happy with the headliners this year but we have already paid. I am sure it will be a great weekend but disappointed with the line up.

User

I went on Saturday 26th and really not impressed especially after a fantastic festival 2 years ago. The Cuban Brothers were great as always, Prince's band were great, Bony M were okish, but there were not enough seating areas, not good for someone like myself who has a chronic pain disability and needs to sit down regularly. The beer was overpriced at £6.50 a pint. I didn't see any toilet attendants and the toilets often had no loo roll, and urine all over the seats and floor. I also noticed there seemed to be a lot of other live music or disco areas, which on a huge site would work really well, but this isn't a huge site and the various noises were competing with one another. This was very distracting when standing at the back watching the main stage as I was distracted by the booming bass from a disco area further up the field. If you are going to do this kind of thing make the site bigger so it can cope, or put the disco areas in a small tent. And now to my main complaint, The Jacksons, ruddy awful!!! It didn't sound like their mics were turned up, their singing was weak, and what on earth were they doing walking off stage after 3 or 4 songs and putting a video on. It also sounded like the cheering and screaming at the end of each song was coming from a pre recorded tape, as it certainly didn't sound like it was coming from the crowd. I noticed many people walking off and heading home at this point and my friends and I did the same as we really didn't want to stay and watch. After attending a fantastic festival the first year, I was really disappointed with Saturday and I won't be attending another unless the line up seriously improves.
