Went yesterday Sunday. The place was very busy but we had already booked our table beforehand so taken straight to our table for two. It’s the first time I’ve been since it’s been taken over. Everywhere was nice and clean. The waitress introduced herself to us and took our order as they come to the table to take our order. The food was lovely and hot bbq chicken melt with chips and lots of salad and 2 slices of garlic bread. We then had a sweet which was lovely. We will definitely go back again....I’ve seen bad reviews in Dec but we were highly satisfied with the meal and the staff very pleasant.

Went here for Mother’s Day and for breakfast just the other day and I have to say that both times our meal was beautiful we had plenty choice on the carvery of 3 meats and a good selection of veg and was constantly being topped up with fresh the breakfast was also beautiful with plenty of choice to help yourself too and the cooked breakfast was delicious the service I found both times was quick and extremely helpful and pleasant will definitely be visiting again

We have visited the Cookhouse and Pub on 2 occasions recently. Both visits were very enjoyable. The Staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. On both occasions the food was excellent and piping hot. One nice touch was the crayons, sticker sheet, colouring sheet and a free tray of sliced veg and dip for the young ones. Based on my experience I cannot understand the negative reviews.

Staying at Premier Inn next door and decided to try here. First of all, the staff were superb. Even though we had not booked, they found us a table. When we decided that the table was too draughty, we were given a choice of two other tables, with no hassle. Our waiter was delightful and so good humoured that we could not make a fuss when he first had problems putting the order through, then had to return and tell us they had run out of sirloin steak. The rump steak which was ordered as an alternative was delicious and cooked perfectly rare. The gammon was also perfect, as was the beer and wine. We finished with coffee and a mini dessert, again delicious and just the right size. Very very impressed. We don't live in the area but we will be back. 10/10.

Ive just been for lunch with my mum and it was absolutely beautiful, the food, enviroment, staff were great!

Charlie our waitress was lovely very welcoming and professional we also got 2 desserts free something they do as a surprise apparently, will definately be back!

User

I thought it was modern/tastefully decorated. Food was great and well presented. I just want to say WOW to the young lady that served us. She didn't write down our order yet got 5 starters, 5 mains with one having a change of side and an extra side AND 5 deserts correct. Could not believe it, so well done you! Very impressed.

I had my 75th birthday party on Saturday with lots of my family sharing a very happy evening. The food was excellent as was the venue, and our waitress was lovely and all the staff friendly and helpful. We will be going there again for sure. As an afterthought, the whole place was very clean, and that included the toilets !! An important fact.

User

Had a great day today for my little ones 2nd birthday. The staff went to the next level to provide balloons, a birthday ice cream and a cookie when we left. Thank you to all staff who helped

User

Excellent service & food, couldn’t falter a thing, we had the flat bread with meatballs, flats bread with chilli prawns, sweet potato fries and scampi & chips, and for pudding we had the cookie dough & ice cream which was delicious! Definitely be returning soon

User

Clearly I had a completely different experience to everyone else that has reviewed recently. The place was spotlessly clean including the highchair (which is a rarity) and lovely and warm on a really cold day. Service was spot on. Holly was very attentive and pleasant. Food came within about 10 mins. All absolutely red hot and fresh. Great to see more healthier options for kids too. We had a side of cheese garlic flat bread which was beautiful but definitely too big for 1 person as a side. Water brought to the table immediately was a nice touch as this doesn't usually occur in 'family' type pub/restaurants. Based on this visit I will be returning 100%. (Just as a tip, even though I didn't order one - the cheese and bacon flatbread is served cold)

A group of 7 girls aged 17 visited the Cookhouse on Saturday 12th May after having an horrendous experience at Mundy Arms Marpool.

A table had been prebooked for a birthday celebration and after being seated the girls were asked if any of them were 18. When tbey replied no they were told they couldn't eat there and asked to leave.

After a frantic phone call from my Daughter I suggested the girls try ringing you to see if you had a table and luckily you did.

Can I say a big thank you for enabling the girls to enjoy their night out at very short notice and that Mundy Arms loss was your gain.

Well done Cookhouse

Came Saturday teatime with my daughter & grandchildren , firstly I must say an absolute improvement on the layout & decor , comfortable chairs & perfect size table ( I originally booked for 6 but there was 5 of us )

The service was excellent & frequent we were well looked after .

Table sercice- such am improvement on having to order at the bar - table service definate thumbs up from us with children it certainly makes life easier .refillable drinks waiter refills them ...brilliant .

Food - we had complimentary dip & veggies, which wasn't to everyone taste but enjoyed by those of us that liked that kind of thing.

As for the main courses all hot on arrival, looked nicely presented , I had the lamb flatbread which I really enjoyed , my daughter had the smothered chicken ? (Not sure it's name) but she liked it

The children had a combination of 3 of the children's meals , pasta , burger & chicken burger with their choice of sides which they enjoyed along with varying desserts for 2 courses £4.99 which we thought was excellent.

Myself & my daughter had the sundaes which I enjoyed mine but my daughter was somewhat spoilt by the cherry stones being left in so suggest using cherry with no stones .

The food in my opinion was an improvement on the previous visits as it was prior to renovations. It's not a gastro pub but could be improved on further just attention to the flavour on some items.

But for 2 adults & 3 children 2 courses & drinks under £55, I think it's not bad value.

Yes I would come again most certainly

Keep up the good work .

Today I hated it, on Tuesday it was divine. I had the same meal on both occasions and the difference in the two dishes were phenomenal. The peppercorn sauce today looked so watered down it wasn't worthy of the sirloin so stayed in the gravy boat, on Tuesday our onion rings were giants and juicy, today, thinner than a match sticks, not sure if they were rushed and just couldn't cope but we will definitely not be eating here again at the weekend, 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon however, excellent #worthapunt

First time we've been since the big change. Starter of pate was brown toast and a slab of tasteless pate. Main i had fish and chip shop burger which was very nice. Mini fish in batter in a bun with tartar sauce spread om bottom, mushy pea spread on top loved it. Unfortunately my husband wasn't so lucky

Hia suet pie was microwaved ao it was hard and rubbery cant say i wont try it again but not in a hurry x

Called in as we were passing through with our little granddaughter. We thought it was still a Brewers Fayre but thought we'd give it a go. We were shown to our table and a high chair was provided for little one. A waiter came and took our drinks order within 5 minutes which was swiftly brought to us. The food was out quite quickly, piping hot and very nice. We wanted a pudding and waited and waited and waited. There were staff everywhere but no one came to clear our plates away. After almost half an hour I had to get up and ask if we could pay. I paid and wasn't even asked if everything was okay. We left without any pudding and called in Tesco and took puddings home. We definitely won't be returning. Lovely decor and food but terrible service.

User

Bit of a mixed bag today...lady on front of house wasn’t very chirpy, the lad that served us was lovely, carvery was really nice but then they forgot our deserts, after 25 minutes of waiting (and my 2 children nagging asking where their desert was) we gave up and went to the shop for some desert to take home with us!

User

Table of 8 of us visited today. Waited ages for our drinks to arrive. We had 4 carveries, mixed grill medium, mixed grill well done and cheese and bacon burger.

When food eventually the medium mixed grill was well done and the well done was cremated. The burger was cremated and the bun had be toasted too much so it was rock hard.

No one came to ask if the food was ok so didn’t get to talk to anyone.

The area we sat was freezing cold because the air conditioning got put on half way through our visit. Requested for it to be turned down or off but that never happened.

Not sure we will be visiting again

User

Main part of the continental breakfast for me is the granola, yoghurt and mixed red berries. Other half has porridge and mixed red berries. So to find that there are no red berries was an epic fail on this occasion. There was a bowl of sliced apples and oranges but that is not the same and if anyone says that you can fill up on patisserie or toast, yes you can, but I can do that at the nearby Costa for a quarter of the price!! Will not be going again.

User

Good point ... the staff are lovely!!

However ...

Unfortunately not as good as it was. Gammon over cooked and very fatty. Oily grease just filled my plate, alot smaller portions, veg hard and undercooked. Coffees not very nice either.

A large number of Knives and forks are just left upright in a pot in the middle of the table and aren't changed between new people. Found fingerprints and dirt on them. Not very hygienic at all! Go back to wrapping them in a napkin and bring them to the table when we sit down like before.

Can't fault the lovely polite staff tho :)

User
