Craniosacral Therapy Description

Craniosacral therapy is a whole body therapy that uses a light touch to listen to subtle rhythms and patterns within the body. Unresolved tensions from life's experiences, physical and emotional, can affect and restrict the natural healthy motion and function within our body, leading to stress, symptoms, discomfort and pain.

Craniosacral therapy enables the body to realign to it's natural health, restoring motion and vitality. It is suitable for most conditions including neck and back pain, injuries, headaches, migraines, jaw (TMJ) & dental complaints, stress and anxiety and traumatic experience. It’s beneficial in pregnancy and is becoming popular for treating babies. It is also a preventative treatment, helping to maintain and optimise health.

Treatment is safe, respectful and empowering - your body sets the pace of treatment. In addition to changes in symptoms, clients usually leave feeling relaxed, energised and acknowledged at a deep level.

Craniosacral therapy is complementary, and not a substitute, for medical advice and treatment.

As some of you may know I am also a Brainspotting practitioner and will be giving a talk on this body brain based trauma therapy at Brighton & Hove Stressbusters on 4th April.
These monthly talk and demonstration evenings offer two different but complementary techniques to working with stress and are always a relaxing and informative way to spend an evening.

MANAGING STRESS & ANXIETY WITH CBT & TRE
Join Deborah and Rebecca for this combined workshop in which you will be guided through two practices, one mind (CBT), and one body based (TRE), to manage stress and anxiety.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), is a psychological approach that can help you to manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave and is widely used in depression and anxiety. It’s focus is on current problems and looks at the interactions betwee...n thoughts, moods, physical symptoms and behaviours. You will be introduced to the CBT model and learn how to map out your own cycles with an emphasis on stress and anxiety. We will look at unhelpful thinking styles and unhelpful behaviours.
TRE (Tension Releasing Exercises) is a natural way to release and manage stress through the body by activating a natural reflex deep in the brain to release muscular tension and calm down the nervous system - by shaking. As mammals our physiology is designed to experience, survive and release tension & trauma from the body. However due to human brain development and conditioning we have learnt to suppress this organic reflex to rebalance like other mammals – by shaking!
