Dame Janet Primary Academy Description

We hope that you find our website useful and that it encourages you to visit our wonderful school. We are very proud of our academy, our pupils and our staff. Together we all work extremely hard to give children choices in their present and future lives from their earliest days at Nursery to preparing for life at Secondary school in Year Six. Our shared values of Determination, Joy, Pride and Achievement reflect our intention to provide the best possible learning experience for all our pupils. Our recent results reflect this continuing journey. Our talented and committed staff have a clear understanding of the school’s place at the heart of our community and our ambitions to be the school our children deserve.

Dame Janet primary Academy offers a broad and balanced curriculum based on the principles of project based learning. We have extensive facilities and a commitment to giving our children a range of experiences that enrich and provide powerful memories of their time at Primary school.

Georgia W, in France class, made this amazing clay model of the human heart as part of her home-learning. The blue represents the deoxygenated blood and the red represents the oxygenated blood. Well done Georgia!

Tomorrow is Roald Dahl day. Don't forget that your child is invited to dress up as a Roald Dahl character or wear yellow (Roald Dahl's favourite colour).

We're so proud of our broad and balanced curriculum on offer here at DJPA. Here's a snapshot of the science, art, geography, DT and PE linked to science happening this afternoon. In other classes, you'll see Spanish and learning through play.

So today we say goodbye to our Year 6 who are moving onto the next chapter in their lives - we wish them all the best. We are also saying goodbye to someone who has been here a little longer than most - 25 years in fact! Mrs Packham retires from Dame Janet today - her dedication and professionalism towards the school and the children has always been of the highest standard and we will all miss her greatly. Yesterday we celebrated with her at an afternoon tea along with the naming of our library to 'Mrs Packham's library' - Thankyou!

On Friday DJPA held their very first World Cup, with each class representing their class county. Whether the children were part of the team on the pitch or the supporting team on the side lines great fun was had by all. Everyone did a fantastic job playing and supporting but a huge well done goes to out winners: Ireland, Cuba, Jamaica and New Zealand.

Our wonderful Cherry (India class) ‘braved the shave’ today in support of her good friend Evie. All of our Upper School children watched in awe as Cherry bravely shaved off her blonde locks to donate to the Little Princess Trust and raise money for Cancer Research. Evie proudly watched on and offered support to her friend with a hall brimming with emotion. Evie has shown amazing courage throughout her own battles; we are hugely proud of both Evie and Cherry.
