There are some reviews on here that I just simply do not understand. Surely a club that caters for a relatively large catchment area should be big, commercial and business like. The trainers are excellent especially Adam Cristol and a new guy whose name IвҖҷm not sure about. Adam took time out of his day to sit down and really get to understand my rather complex history, and gave me a plan to work to. He is positive, motivational and fun. The reception staff are friendly enough and the restaurant staff also fine.

Riverside is a high end club and good value for money. There is a friendly feel to the place and it caters for so many sports and its a social club too. All facilities are exceptional now the refits complete.

Me and my husband are staying locally for a few days but are members at the David Lloyd Manchester North (which we love). We visited Northwood yesterday and were really impressed. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and the young lifeguard was very helpful. When he noticed I was on crutches (from a ski injury sustained last week) he came straight over to ask me if I needed help and kept checking on me throughout my time there.

The whole ambience of the club was excellent.

We did visit Sudbury club two nights earlier which was the exact opposite and not a nice experience at all.

Probably the best gym and pool, lovely changing rooms, steam room etc I've ever been to which is exactly why I chose David Lloyd's. Always lovely to spend time there, really helpful and friendly staff

Excellent changing rooms and swimming pool facilities, a spacious gym and good range of classes. The cafe is a nice area as well for relax or to grab something to eat

David Lloyd Northwood has amazing facilities that sets it apart from other gyms in the local area. If you enjoy tennis you will not find anything better. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and professional. ItвҖҷs a great place for the whole family to enjoy.

Well I do go three times a week . Bit chaotic at the moment during the refurbishment but I am looking forward to seeing the results . Sad to see Chloe the Zumba teacher leave today .

How good are some of the long standing staff carried over from Virgin? Nicola and Livia stand out for the way they care about the club as if it were their home. I'm sure there are others too who fit this description. And with the refit the club now almost comes up to the standard of Bushey (but still a way to go and cleanliness let's it down).

Worried about recent locker break ins!! with apparently one member of staff saying oh know not another one!! Why not recall all the free combination David Loyd locks and provide ones with keys. Currently with the locks we have when open if you note the number you see from either side you could use that as the code to open crazy!! I will definitely be using my own pad lock with key in future. I actually took my jewellery off this week thinking it would safer in my locker I felt sick when I heard the chat in the Cafe!!

Used to be good. Reminiscent of an overpriced Brittas empire these days.

This gym is no longer worth the membership fee. It is now overcrowded due to David LloydвҖҷs marketing policies. The demographic for the gym has shifted massively and there always seems to be problems. The showers and toilets smell, clients throw dirty towels everywhere and anywhere. Weekends are so busy with members of other David Lloyd clubs there are no parking spaces. Ruined what was a very good gym I have been a member for quite a while and will be shifting membership in the near future.

So! I went down to David Lloyd on Saturday to enquire about membership and to take a look around. They were clearly very busy and so they asked me to fill out a form and they would be in touch in a day or 2. Ok fine. They didnвҖҷt tell me I needed a code to get out the car park so I had a queue of 7 or 8 cars screaming and shouting at me to use my membership card to exit but finally someone kind came along and swiped me out. Ok we all make mistakes. After not hearing anything from them I called yesterday morning and left a voicemail asking someone to contact me to tell me a time that I could go down today (Thursday) as IвҖҷm working from home and could nip out. Guess what? Nothing. Silence. What an awful place.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Absolutely terrible place. They will lie and cheat you into a membership without giving you the full details of what you can and can't do. I was signed up by a guy called George who essentially told me there were two options, a basic membership at approx ВЈ80 per month or a racquets membership at approx ВЈ150 per month. The ONLY difference being that I would have to pay ВЈ10 each time I play tennis on the basic membership. So I went for that as I couldn't see myself playing enough to make the difference although I made clear that I would occasionally play tennis. I also told them I would only make it there evenings and weekends. So from this after paying approx ВЈ160 for membership fees and pro rata rate I visited roughly 5-6 times In which time I was told Im not allowed to book a court in advance on the basic membership and have to book on the day. I was annoyed that I wasn't informed of this but accepted non the less. So following day I ring up to book a court for that day, there was courts available but the system wouldn't let them book one under my name no one seemed to know why and I had to wait for a call back which never came. After numerous phone calls It later turned out I was on a off peak membership for some reason and could not book anything on peak times. At this point after so many phone calls and no one being able to tell me what was going on I cancelled my direct debit as I decided I had not been informed fully of what I had bought into and it didn't sit well with me to continue the contract that I had only signed up to less than a month ago. I then managed to get this George chap on the phone and asked why I was not informed of the above to which he replied it was he first he had heard of it aswell with regards to booking courts.



I told him I would like to cancel my membership as it's not was we had agreed on initially.



So after paying ВЈ160 for 5-6 visits and being completely messed around and lied to I didn't think it would be an issue to cancel given the shocking level of service from what's supposed to be a premium gym. But no, I am now receiving threatening letters from a lady called Janet that I need to continue paying my monthly fees as im still in contract and they will be sending it in to debt collectors if i don't pay.



My advice stay well away.

I visited the club this week and was so disappointed. A very snooty and dare I say it rude sales woman couldnвҖҷt have been less interested. DidnвҖҷt sell the club in a positive way at all. I left not wanting to join, so didnвҖҷt. I get your job is easy and you have people queuing to join but IвҖҷll find somewhere I might get a decent customer service.

I am long time member of Sudbury DL and played here in the Winter as Sudbury donвҖҷt have indoor courts.



My friend faced ( my friend is a brown young chap with beard) hatred from White Elite class ladies on courts 3 ( played between evening 8 to 8:30)

The ladies shouted at him and one lady even hit the ball to roof to threaten him. I felt they donвҖҷt like to see the brown people on the courts as they still live in Pre historic world.



Even the coach in-charged mentioned if are from David LloydвҖҷs. I guess he and white elite expects everyone wear expensive Tennis attire while some canвҖҷt afford that.



My friend didnвҖҷt ask apologies and the ladies teamed up and bullied him , referring to his manners. I doubt even if these matured ladies understand what is manners ( even you could be racist but manners is not to show it up front)



Elite white class racism was visible in the courts.



People shall learn Tennis is for everyone and attire is not essential for people who play for fun. Definitely Tennis is not only for while elite class. As long as we wear shoes which doesnвҖҷt damage the courts , itвҖҷs good enough.



Apologies for this but I accept he was wrong but I hated the mentality of the people there.



Please get over the white elite mentality and get back to reality !

Having been a member for a few years now and the change from Virgin ownership to DL , i have witnessed and felt that club going from a friendly club for members to a club that is now fully concentrated to numbers and the urge to make as much money from members as possible ; DL have one thing in mind , make money and forget the reason why they exist ( incidentally , its the members if they need any reminding ) ; make classes shorter so that they van pay the instructors less money , charge the members more for lesser session times for the classes but if course do not even think about reducing membership fees due to lesser time sessions ; they are on a mission , make money and nothing else matters to them ; there is no consultation about making classes shorter and rules are just made to satisfy the lust for the making a higher profit ; cuts cuts and more cuts ;;

the car park has pot holes which may require planning permission if they are not fixed and on rainy day , you are bound to get your socks wet even if you have trainers as the pot holes are so deep and the ground accumulates water in large puddles ;

this current management team is truly appalling and i fail to understand how they do not sense the unhappiness of its membership ; Wake up please !!!

Has anyone had ridiculous increases in membership (planned for 1st Jan) since the takeover by David Lloyd. Jackie Robinson, the General Manager has done nothing to help here.

My Wife and I have had 10% increase and loss of facilities.

On a telephone conversation, Jackie has even inferred to me that I should leave the club when I genuinely quizzed her around the rationale.

Friday the 24th November I drive in through the non working barrier, park up and walk in to the reception to find that the security barriers are also broken! IвҖҷm then asked to write my name on a piece of paper, members who have entered before me have done the same I was not challenged as to who I was so I could have signed in as Joe Bloggs and to be honest if I had, I wouldnвҖҷt be as angry as I was this morning to find that I received a No Show email?? David Lloyd please rectify. I attended AnnaвҖҷs 07:00 am spin and iвҖҷm sure she will verify. P.s when will the main barriers be fixed? I also believe you need a member of staff on the back door to stop uninvited individuals.
