Lots of smiles in the kitchen today. Stuart, our Head Chef, looking very happy with his new Robot Coupe food processor!

What a wonderful treat! Every single member of staff was attentive, friendly and helpful from the lovely young lady checking us in to the young man explaining how to find the flashlight facility on my mobile phone so I could find my way home in the dark to the wonderful gentleman greeting us at breakfast. My Mum and I shared a twin room - it was warm, cosy, clean and overlooked the front garden, beautiful. Would definitely recommend and hope to come again with my husband this time!

We spent a day based here as a long time ago we lived in East Sussex. Lots of friends became throughout the day and had tea, lunch, cake, wine etc. The staff were fantastic and our dog friendly room brilliant. Thank you all.

We had our wedding here on Saturday 23rd September. The whole days was amazing would like to thank all the staff who went above and beyond to make are day perfect. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

Deans place is such a pretty venue and to top it off the food was amazing for such a large amount of people.

We had our wedding at deans place on the 3rd December, and we had the most amazing time. Staff were amazing from the day we made our enquiry to the days after. We could just hand everything over to the team and they made our day beautiful, it could not have been more perfect. Would highly recommend to everyone!!! Thank you to the amazing team!!!

We had our Christmas themed wedding at Deans place . From start of planning to the end of our stay the day after the planning and attention to detail, the staff , the service everything was nothing short of amazing! Nothing was too much trouble and they bent over backwards to ensure everything ran to time....... I wanted a dream wedding and I got better if that's even possible. I arranged a few quirky bits. Giving the staff more awkward at times work to do and they just got on with it and what's even better is that they actually enjoyed doing it! All you guys at Deans Jacob on Reception, Debbie and Sam who organised Banquet Manager Jo and the team..... thankyou so much! My husband Myself and my guests will not forget this amazing wedding anytime soon , thankyou doesn't seem enough xxxxxx

We attended Deans Place as Photographers and Videographers on the 24th September for Chris and Leanne's wedding - the attention and assistance we received was second to none....



Your staff and Management were attentive and always willing to assist giving advice as to the best points to be to shoot the ceremony - out of 100%, we give you a 100% marking..... our second time here doing a photo shoot and the attention has not changed over 3 years.....



Your attention to detail is second to none...... Highly recommended.......

Quickly served in the bar and also ordered the Sussex Cream tea. The scones and lemon curd were fantastic, as well as the fresh raspberry jam. Would recommend.

I've spent the last 8 years working as an events manager for another wedding venue, so choosing a venue for my own wedding was no easy task! After contacting every venue within a 30 mile radius we decided to hold our special day with Deans Place and I cannot be more thrilled that we did. I knew exactly how I wanted everything to look, taste and feel and it ended up being better than I could have imagined.



Right from the word go, Samantha, Rachel and Debbie were always on hand to give me help or advice and when the day came around I had no doubts or worries whatsoever. The food was outstanding! Everything went so smoothly and all of the staff are a credit to the place. Special thanks to Jo who oversaw the meal and most of the evening, ensuring everything was perfect (it was!).



So many of our guests have said it was the best wedding they have ever been to, which is so lovely to hear.



We booked most of the rooms with our guests and everyone complimented the comfy beds and fantastic breakfast when we gathered the next morning. It just really kept the wedding vibe going and meant we could make a whole weekend of it! The rooms offered terrific value for money.



I honesty can't find fault- which amazes me! I'm so glad that we now have a wonderful place to enjoy anniversaries and special occasions. Deans Place and its staff will always hold a special place in our hearts and I can't thank all involved enough. I'm just sorry it's taken me so long to write this- I think it's because I don't want to admit it's all over!

Had dinner here this evening and was absolutely gorgeous! Staff were friendly & professional. We really enjoyed our meal, would 100% recommend to anyone!

From the beginning the team at deans place hotel and in particular the events team were brilliant, from initial meeting and showing the venue to booking and making adjustments for the day!



Jo was fantastic thought out the later planning and she also was there to make sure the day ran well..and it could not have been smoother! She liased with us as we made alterations and amended guests as we got closed and some changes were made. We had some good meetings where the entire day was planned out with how we wanted it and also accommodated other arrangement such as my best man needed a projector for his speech...There package was great and included so many little things that you can Do without having to collect and buy for a single use on a day and took some of the pressure of planning away. They worked closely with all of our other professionals who were involved in the day to ensure they were set for the day. We did have to make a change on the day to inside as the grass was soaked but we still managed to have to owl deliver the rings even though he did not want to fly as he had been poorly.



Again Jo and the team were very calm and delt with informing myself and changing things around seamlessly over the day.



The food was fantastic and everyone enjoyed it from what I heard. The day was so nice and even though my wife and I didn’t stop moving it didn’t feel chaotic or hectic at all, and there was always someone around to get us another drink or a chair for 30 seconds!



Thank you to the whole team again and we will look forward to returning for our anniversaries!

Absolutely love this place, we live in the village and regularly walk our dog down in the evening, either to meet friends or just for a little time to ourselves. There always is a bowl of water and a treat along with a pat for our dog Jack, we can eat off the restaurant menu in the bar or on the terrace, nothing is too much trouble in the nicest possible way.. thank you so much for always looking after us, Liz, Russ & Jack (the woof!).

We've just spent a very enjoyable two nights at Deans's Place. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is that the Wifi was virtually non-existent and the mobile phone signal was very poor (but I uderstand that is a problem in Alfriston and not just the hotel). I don't know if the Wifi problem was just while we were there, but we had three different devices and couldn't get online on any of them after the first few hours we were there.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

We booked afternoon tea. We was so shocked with the afternoon tea, when it came out we couldn't believe. How small it was. For £40.00 for two off us.

I spoke to the manager. Said it was not worth the money. She said that was fine. And we had fish and chips instead.

We came here to our friends 40th birthday lunch. A lovely place for it and the room for the lunch was nicely situated. Unfortunately my food was barely lukewarm. I don’t know if it was because I was one of the last to be served or there was another reason. I had the chicken and I didn’t want it with the creamy sauce. However I wished it had had some gravy as it definitely needed something. I didn’t complain as it was our friends husband who was paying and I didn’t want to spoil the atmosphere. Everything else was delicious especially the plum trifle and chocs. We stayed over night and had breakfast and what a choice. All very fresh and tasty. The rooms were a bit “tired” looking a few things needed updating it overall quirky and ok. A very comfy bed but unfortunately the pillows in our room ( no. 42) were awful soft and lumpy. Not good for me as I have a neck problem. Overall all we had a great time.

Delightful hotel with beautifully kept gardens. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a drink in the bar and the barman talked me through some of the Gins on offer. I selected a locally distilled gin Seven Sisters with tonic, which I can recommend. We decided to eat in the bar and I had a delicious meal of plaice with a brown shrimp sauce on a bed of spinach and crushed new potatoes followed by a three chocolate brownie and passion fruit sorbet. There was a slight delay on receiving my dessert for which there was an apology. I finished with a great Cappuccino. A pleasant, attentive barman. Our spacious room had a delightful view overlooking the garden. To be picky, I found the room a little chilly as the heating was not turned on. However the towel rail in the bathroom was. The carpet had seen better days as on the stairs. The next morning we had a good choice at the buffet table with lovely fresh fruit and yogurt etc. We chose a traditional full English breakfast with a choice of toast etc. The breakfast was good but only half a slice of Black Pudding! Again to be picky the coffee could have been better and only two small pats of butter for three slices of toast and the fried eggs were hard cooked. However, the service was both friendly and efficient. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this delightful hotel and particularly enjoyed the large lounge with sofas and fire. Just right on an autumn evening after a stroll in the peaceful gardens with views across the Downs.

Our family of 12 visited Deans Place today for a family gathering, of which some of our family members travelled from London. I arrived at the restaurant to beautiful surroundings and a lovely sunny outside seating area. After I had sat there for 45 minutes, watching staff members coming in and out with cushions, I went and asked if I needed to order at the bar or whether it was table service. The male member of staff advised that he would send a waitress out. 5 Minutes later, she came out and we asked to order drinks to which she told us she would send the male staff member. After 50 minutes we were eventually served a drink. Another 10 minutes passed and we weren't offered any menus so I went inside to ask for them and collected them myself. We waited another 10 minutes before our food order was taken.

When the food arrived, one of the sandwiches was incorrect, however nobody came to see if everything was ok so we ended up accepting it. After we had finished our meal the plates sat on the table for at least 20 minutes, so again I had to ask for the plates to be cleared and for the dessert menus. We asked what the cake of the day was, but the waitress didn't know. We asked if we could order scones with jam and cream but the waitress didn't know what scones were (due to a language barrier) so we had to write it down for her on the order pad. By the time the desserts arrived, there were still several dirty plates on the table so I took it upon myself to scrape them and stack them in the centre of the table. We ordered 4 portions of scones (and two other desserts) - we were sent 4 mini scones that were no bigger than an espresso cup. Again the plates were not cleared which then resulted in us being surrounded up wasps. I went inside to ask for the bill. When I looked over the bill, I immediately noticed that we had been charged £13.90 for the 4 mini scones. I was appalled. We had also been charged for additional fresh orange that we hadn't ordered. At this point I approached the manager and explained what poor service we had received throughout our visit and about the inaccuracies on the bill. The manager had no idea how to deal with the problem and openly replied 'I don't really know what to say.' That pretty much summed it up. I explained that we had met for a special family lunch and that I felt embarrassed by the service my family had received. I had to explain that I wasn't happy to pay £13.90 for 4 mini scones and the extra orange juice. These were then removed from the bill along with one sandwich which was incorrectly served. Nothing else was done. There were no apologies or goodwill gestures offered at all. It was such a shame that such a beautiful place could be so let down by its staff.
