The story started 20 years ago. Like so many young families, our priority were our children and how to create the best quality of life for them on a minute budget.
The only way to get the garden the way we wanted was to DIY since our budget was way too small and quotes way too high for what we liked.
First was the Garage, then the decks, patio, sunken BBQ with open fireplace, playhouse and on it went.
Being a perfectionist, I wanted everything to look great, be very usable and to last forever without the need for constant maintenance.
Well, once you've made one thing beautiful you just can't have that ugly thing next to it, so off it went, a little over the top but the end result was the garden in the cover photo and many years of pleasure as the girls grew up.
Soon, friends and family were asking me to build things for them and the demand prompted me to quit my job and do this full time.
I Studied to be an aerospace engineer, but life has a way of telling you the obvious. Through years of endless needs, I took on varying projects from renovations of rooms, houses and gardens to restaurants.
By far the greatest reward has been customer satisfaction, not just making someone smile, but by changing their lifestyle and making the odd dream come true.
I am of the old school of craftsmanship, service and dependability. Having suffered the services of so many companies, builders and contractors for most of my personal and professional life, I decided to go back to the values that made being a customer rewarding, not frustrating.
Because of this, customers have come back to me for many other services both internal and external. From tiling bathrooms to landscaping I have ensured that every project made the very most of each customers budget while exceeding their expectations.
The company is run as a sole trader using contractors only where building and safety regulations demand, but always under strict supervision. Since all products and services are under my final guarantee, my customers are not left with an array of people to deal with should anything go wrong. The final aim being long term satisfaction and peace of mind.

If you would like more details about any of the work you see, please ask. I specialise in overcoming unusual problems and creating durable solutions, so there is a lot going on under the surface. Ultimately, the finished article has to look great from the start and even better when the wood 'weathers in', and this is only by careful design and solving the specific problems of the site so that clay or sand, roots or plumbing, rain or snow do not compromise the beauty, function or durability of the work.
Firstly, apologies for not updating the page for an eternity, but making these structures is much more fun than showing off!
Latest project: a new workshop for me... well, the business. The building is up but the real challenge is getting the inside working well, so lots of specialised work benches and features.
Before building the workshop, the previous rotting shed had to be removed as well as 3 skips of ivy from the fencing before the new fence could be made.
... Like all garden buildings I have done, this one needed some careful design to ensure that the floor and benches were perfectly level and stay that way, despite the sandy soil and huge evergreen tree inches away from the building. To achieve this, 21 support posts had to be set over a metre deep and sit on wide pads to prevent movement. Some of the posts were positioned precisely where the benches sit to prevent vibrations from amplifying through the structure. This of course meant designing the interior layout before the base, supports and main structure.
The walls and roof have acoustic/thermal slabs, again to prevent noise from disturbing neighbours. The tool bench and central bench are filled with dry sand to absorb vibration and sound as are the doors.
So far, the tool bench weighs about 250kgs before the tool drawers were inserted. Side door is about 90kgs.
It all works extremely well and very little noise gets out. In fact, the aircraft coming from Heathrow and nearby road traffic are noisier.
Whilst I will continue to build customer structures on site, I can now add furniture and other things to my services. Again, bespoke in dimensions, material and aesthetic design.

One of the first, and biggest projects: Everything you see in the pictures was built by myself over a period of months (while working a full time job at the airport). The success of the project and the demands of family and friends to build things for them was the driving force behind the company

Well, it's been an interesting 2016 with 8 new structures built and some wonderful new customers. Thank you so much for the opportunity to build these lovely designs.
What will 2017 bring?
I hope to continue the success of the business, especially the rewards to new and existing customers. ... I'd especially like the opportunity to build even more challenging designs...
