Dear members, players & users of DTC,
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday evening (23 March), we will unfortunately now also be closing the tennis courts from any use. We are following advice from the Government which states the closure of 'communal places within parks, such as playgrounds, sports courts and outdoor gyms'.
We really appreciate all of the continued support from our members and players at Denmead Tennis Club. As you will be aware, membership r...enewals are due on 1st April and therefore the committee will postpone renewals until members are able to use the courts again.
We will of course continue to communicate updates via email and our social media channels.

Coronavirus Update
Following the Government update yesterday and further guidance from our national governing body, the LTA, we have made the following decision. The coaching programme & club mix-in sessions will be suspended until further notice. In addition, due to guidance provided by the LTA we will be closing the Clubhouse which will mean members will be unable to use the floodlights.
We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed if anything changes.

However, the Department of Culture, Media & Sport has specifically advised that tennis is one of the best examples of social distancing and therefore we do not want to discourage you from keeping active on court! Therefore, the courts will remain open to allow members & non-members to continue playing tennis with family and/or small groups of friends. Courts are bookable for members & non-members via our website.
If you would like to continue having coaching, our coaching team are able to deliver 1:1 or 1:2 sessions as social distancing can be controlled. Please contact headcoach@denmeadtennis.org.uk.
We do ask members using the courts to familiarise themselves with the below: - Players should adhere to the social distancing guidelines - Players should wash hands before and after tennis without exception - Players should not share rackets - Please avoid touching your face

Dear Members, players and users of DTC,
Following guidance from the Government and the LTA, we have been specifically advised that tennis is in fact one of the best examples of social distancing in practice, and so should be encouraged as long as the guidance permits. Tennis is also specifically identified as currently being a sport that is ok to play in this BBC news article.
The Government has currently indicated that physical exercise (including grass roots coaching) that ...takes place at a safe distance from others and in safe exercise environments is something that can continue at this time.
Denmead Tennis Club will continue to run activity on the courts, however, will be adapting sessions to accommodate the advice on social distancing: - Adopt low player-to-court ratios (such as singles or doubles) or individual coaching as per the Government’s advised social distancing measures - Avoid close proximity when giving feedback, or when players are resting - Ensure no physical contact between players during warm-ups or games
Please can we also ask our members/players to read the below advice before attending a session at the Club: - Players should wash hands before and after a tennis session without exception (or use an alcohol gel if washing hands is not possible) - Players should not share rackets - Please avoid touching your face - Players should avoid close proximity, considering this when using the clubhouse facilities - Players should bring their own hand towel for drying hands in the clubhouse

A reminder to all members. To be eligible for the club's Wimbledon Ballot this year you will need to 'opt in' by 14th February. To do this, simply go to www.lta.org.uk, log into your LTA account and click 'opt in'.
