We have been visiting for years and even more so now we have children, the food is lovely and reasonably priced. We have always found the service to be great, when it was our daughters birthday they brought out a free dessert with a sparkler and sang happy birthday, she was so happy, what a lovely touch! My daughter always say she wants to go to Donatello when we ask her where she wants to go for dinner so we will be back soon!

My Brother and his family are visiting the UK from Australia. Having had good experiences here in the past and knowing the varied menu would be suitable for him, my sister in law and my teenage niece and nephew I thought this would be a sound choice for one of our nights out. Very disappointed and a little embarrassed. There was a very peculiar smell where we were placed. Like bad drains. We were told it might be drifting from the kitchen and be from “the washing up”! We considered asking to be moved but the place was full and at least we had one of the quieter spots. It’s often difficult to hold a moderate conversation here, as it is in so many places in Brighton with the “I’m here” egocentric brigades needing everyone to hear them, and poor acoustics. We had to ask several times for correct cutlery and my brother’s bread basket was thrown on the table “with a flourish” Lol. Staff seemed rather grumpy.

This is a memory that’s going all the way back to Perth WA. Thank goodness the food was passable.

I visited Donatello today in Brighton with my daughter for lunch we had a nice meal the food was nice but the attitude of the staff was awful! I am always happy to leave a tip /service charge for staff when I feel satisfied and treated with respect I also like that to be left to me.and not to just be told we are to leave a tip /service charge by The staff .The women kissed her teeth at us and gave the most filthy look and walked away!! Your staff need to learn some manners and perhaps they would earn more tips . Very disappointing �

Coeliacs beware! It’s totally unacceptable to have a gluten free menu then not be able to provide the items as stated. We ordered from the main menu, then my daughter ordered from the gluten free menu but was told that the fries were not gf despite being on the menu. She then had to watch us eat our starters whilst having nothing suitable for her. Since we’ve been home my daughter who has Coeliac and type 1 diabetes has been getting stomach cramps and feeling sick which indicates there has probably been cross contamination in other areas of her food. We complained online giving the restaurant the opportunity to respond but they haven’t showing how much they don’t care.
