Wonderful afternoon tea. Fresh warm scones and huges slices of tasty cakes. Very generous at a very reasonable price. Excellent service by staff.

User

Went for Sunday lunch weren’t disappointed at all ,fantastic food & friendly staff will be back again

User

Went for Afternoon Tea its was really good just to much for two. Took home a doggy bag .

This was our 1st visit must say we really enjoyed it.

Really nice place great decor very clean. What made it for us was the food and the very friendly welcoming Staff. Definitely worth a visit. Can't wait to go back .

User

We came here for afternoon tea and what a pleasant find! The cakes are all home made and I’ve never tasted cake as amazing and delicious as theirs... and I’ve eaten a lot of cake in my time.! You get so much we had to take most of it away with us to enjoy later.

We also ordered a meat starter that was equally delicious and extremely generous in portion size. We will 100% be coming back here again. The food is outstanding, along with the friendly and welcoming staff.

Stopped here for lunch when travelling through. Although it doesn't look much from the outside, on the inside there is a Lovely open fire on which was inviting.I had a gorgeous fish pie and my partner had fish and chips which tasted great. Well worth a visit for lunch or even to try the various gins on display!

Stayed here for one night as I was in the area on business. I turned up after my days work and was greeted by the owner at the bar, who was extremely polite and helpful. Having checked in I then went to my room and I was not at all disappointed. Whilst it does not have air conditioning there is a fan provided plus I was in a ground floor room which was very cool even in this scorching weather. The room itself has all the amenities you would expect such as brew kit, tv etc and it was clean. The room is not laid out in a modern fashion and if anything is 'olde world' which for me was spot on. The only downside for the light sleepers amongst you is that it is situated near a main road. For me this wasn't an issue but for others it might be.

I then had a shower which was good and then went for some dinner. The menu is brill And I sampled the beef burger which was well cooked and hot. The next meal I took after this was breakfast and I have to say that this was spot on. Would I recommend this to others? If you're looking for a modern contemporary place then book a travel lodge or premier inn. If you're looking for a country style/farmhouse type place then this is the one for you. Very relaxing atmosphere with plenty of space outside to sit and enjoy the good weather

Reasonably priced but for me it's the owner and the staff plus the warm welcome that won it. Thank you for a pleasant stay and i will be coming back!

User

Most enjoyable stay. The evening menu was extensive and what we chose was delicious, sat by a lovely warm open fire, just what was needed on a chilly evening. Our room was large, spotlessly clean and comfortable. So comfortable that we overslept and missed breakfast :)

The staff we extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. Great place to stay, lovely atmosphere.

User

Lovely venue and such thoughtful staff and owners. Enquired about an allergy adaption and mentioned we were coming for wife’s birthday. They had done the table up and even left a message for us outside on arrival to wish her Happy Birthday. Will deffo come back. A real jewel in the oxford countryside.

It's always difficult to find someone sympathetic to Gluten free.

It was a pleasure to eat here,as the staff were knowledgable, helpful and very understanding.

It's a cosy place, very near to Blenheim palace and an ideal spot to eat after a long day at the palace.

Anyone with dietary needs should consider this a good place to utilise.

Great bar offerings too....including Gluten free beer !

User

Ignore any negative comments about this place. Room excellent tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. Comfy beds. Radiator to make room as hot or cold as you like. Bathroom with powerful hot shower and shower gel etc. Hairdryer provided and TV. Great location for Blenheim Palace and St Martins Church where Winston Churchill is buried. Lovely helpful friendly staff who made my mum's birthday special.

User

Highly recommend The Duke of Marlborough. We stayed here while visiting Blenheim Palace and The Festival of Lights... which I have to say was totally amazing! Our stay at The Duke of Marlborough coincided with a snowfall of ten inches! The manager & staff could not have been more helpful xx The room was clean, comfortable and very warm, with lashings of hot water. A generous hospitality tray was greatly appreciated. Restaurant food was delicious and well presented and the full English Breakfast was a lovely start to our day. I don't like to single out staff as they were all very good... However Jenny was lovely...so efficient and well trained. We will definitely be booking in again xx

User

Had a lovely meal ,varied menu including an extensive gluten free one.Service good and with a smile ,slightly old fashioned feel to the place but that is not a bad thing and we are planning to go again.

User

Had a fantastic meal ! The menu was brilliant as most of the meals were Gluten Free which gave my daughter who is celiac a great choice rather than having to have 1 or 2 meals to choose from . The Staff were very attentive and informative of all the gluten free dishes which gave her more confidence in what she was eating would definitely recommend and will be returning again

User

Great place to stay or just pop in for a fabulous afternoon Tea .

Stayed to two nights,Excellent breakfast as was all the food . Room was nice and comfy.Staff were very welcoming.Overall a great weekend.

User

First choice of place to stay when visiting the Cotswolds and family, cosy bar with friendly staff and great food always! Love the breakfast although we are sometimes a little late due to being so comfy in our bed and rooms they provide. Very hospitable and nothing is too much of an effort. We have stayed here for leisure, a last minute nearby family crisis, a family wedding reception and even a funeral wake. Nothing is too much for these hosts, they pull out all the stops no matter what! Highly recommended!

User

Amazing to have almost full choice of the main menu safe in the knowledge it was gluten free and then a good selection of the dessert menu as well! Lamb shank followed by Sticky Figgy Pudding - absolutely delicious & highly recommended for those requiring a gluten free diet! :-)

User

Visited yesterday with some family who live locally. Excellent roast chicken Sunday lunch. Vegetables cooked to perfection, roast potatoes were so crunchy and fluffy. The only negative comment is that all our Yorkshire puddings were burnt around the edges. Had the white chocolate cheesecake for dessert and that was to die for, absolutely delicious. Would definitely come again if I was in the area.

User

We went on a nice country walk from Combe to have Sunday Lunch with my dogs. 6kms later on our arrival we were told dogs are not allowed so we had to sit outside for our lunch. At first I thought they were joking as I have not met a pub within this local area that wouldn't accept dogs. I can take my dog on the bus and do a pub crawl in Woodstock but the owner point blankly said no dogs. Unfortunately I won't be visiting there again

User

Steak was barely warm. Taken back to be redone, ordered it cooked medium but was well done when it came back, partner had finished his meal by the time mine was recooked so I ate on my own. Not impressed at all. Not often we get the chance to eat out together during the week so was very disappointed to say the least
