Qualifying 2 didn't quite go to plan. Neil hit debris in the track, resulting in the instant deflation of the front tyre and the damage shown in the photo. A brand new Dymag (less than an hour old!), straight for the bin. Rear wheel also damaged but hopefully repairable. Luckily he managed to keep the bike upright. So it was the Honda back out on track for a while. Night practice back on the Harris was all good as was warm up this afternoon. Race starts 7.00pm CET. Blue LED lights help our timekeepers identify the bike as it approaches during the night.

First round of the European Classic Endurance Championship at Paul Ricard. Practice and first qualifying over and all good so far. New bike for this year, a Harris F1 chassis with a GSX1100E motor. Power up by 20hp over last years bike and weight down by 20kg. The time spent on getting this bike together from scratch is almost incomprehensible, but the signs so far are pretty good.

Probably couldn't have wished for a better shake down test. A few minor adjustments to the Matris suspension and the Brembo brakes, and it goes, stops and handles. Still loads to do before the Sunday Ride Classic meeting at Paul Ricard, but it looks like we've got a good base. Bring it on!

And so the season begins......... Hopefully Paul Ricard .next month will be a little warmer! First run out on this year's new race bike. Harris F1 GSX1100.

Congratulations to Matt Scott, starting the season at Brands as he finished last year. Three 2nds and a third on the Dynotech ZXR400. Proper job! Also well down to local lad Luke Stoneman picking up two podiums in the Rookie 600 class at his first ever meeting.

First came here best part of 45 years ago, raced here 30 years ago, and it's hardly changed at all. Love the place!

The start and the finish. I like a parc ferme photo, it means you've made it! Well done to Neil Appleton on a fine start and first stint, Luc for a great run 2nd and Nigel Manning-Morton for bringing it home. Combined result of 10th overall and 6th in class makes it all the more satisfying. Bike and pits stops all ran to plan - a great team effort. Last but not least a big thanks to Rita who didn't stop all weekend feeding anyone who stood still long enough to be offered food and drink!

Just about an hour before the 2nd 2hr race, so it's team photo time. Couldn't do it without everyone in the picture.

45 minutes to the off. Everything prepped and ready, only need to fuel it and we're off.

First quali went well. A couple of changes for Q2 which starts in 30 mins. It's either baking or raining at Spa. Today it's 30 degrees. Great for the pit crew not so pleasant for the riders!

Super sunny down in Margate

1st pit stop went super smooth, unfortunately the next one was to repair the bike! Running 11th overall and 7th in class before a tip off at Coppice cost us the best part of an hour. Not ideal in a four hour race! Back out though and back to 9th in class.

Calm before the storm. Warm up ran without problems and just 35 mins to the start. Well done to Fernando Mendes and Nigel Palmer Dynotech customers 1st and 2nd in the Classic 2 stroke 250 GP race this morning.
