From the words of the big sister thank you Dr Segal 😍

Sadly this happened to me! It is a terrifying condition, for me my warning signs were feeling cold, and aches and pains the same morning I was treated for SEPSIS.
**If a person has had SEPSIS before, their immune system remains more at risk of a serious infection again up until a year later**
... Ask the questions "could it be SEPSIS" when I had the onset of SEPSIS, I was unable to stop shivering.

Kate, our beautiful big girl, often has sleepless nights, and lots of interruptions to her routine because of Alice's episodes of illness. Today, she's proven just how grown up and resilient she is. Here she is, achieving her very first belt tag at Martial arts. #bemorekate proud of my girls!

Ive been asked to write a 'blog' on a mummy page for children who have experienced meningitis...here it is...
Our experience...15 months, and 12 admissions. 6 admissions to A&E, 5 admissions via GP or consultant led referral, and 1 admission to a hospital out of county. Every so often we forget, and we enjoy the cheeky, clever, loving baby that Alice is. She loves people, a smile is so easy for her to give away. A hug, a high five, and a fist bump are her favourite interacti...ons. She loves life when she is well, and those around her can not help but adore her too (I am reliably informed). Our threshold for Alice is always tested, she can go from well, to incredibly unwell in a number of hours. She experiences pain, discomfort and fever frequently. The bruises that appear from the cannulas rarely get the chance to heal before the next one appears. Alice's history is complex, this often leads to community led care being escalated. We rely heavily on the support that our family provides, Alices Grandparents attending to the care of her big sister Kate at the drop of a hat. We rely heavily on the kind hearted flexible nature of Alices Childminders, who unreservedly provide love and care beyond the expectations. We rely heavily on Alice's Health Visitor, who goes above and beyond to provide ongoing support and intervention. We are also very fortunate to benefit from the consultant led care at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Our journey with Alice continues, in spite of her battle, look at the army she has to help her conquer it, and that she will. #bemorealice

Thank you for your kind messages of concern about Alice. How is she doing? She has good days! And today was one of those. A huge round of applause please for her first ever wee on a potty (age 15 months). This was to catch urine for a test, (and it took hours) but she did it!!!

We have just completed a paediatric first aid course with Sophie, as my mum and I are both registered childminders as well as a mums we found it a fantastic course very informative and we feel Sophie answered questions and gave us enough practical experiences during the course too. Thank you see you in 3 years!

Sophie was a great teacher and I really recommend the Early First Years First Aid course to everyone - parents / relatives / friends. My husband and I found it very helpful and informative. First Aid is constantly being reviewed and updated and even if you have been on courses before it is always worth doing a refresher course. Thanks Sophie!

User

Sophie is an excellent tutor, she pitched the course brilliantly and made it applicable to each of us individually.

It was a course that encouraged and supported us to feel confident in the procedures.

Sophie was there to help us , I did not feel like I was being tested, so not getting the right technique first time was ok, we had the encouragement to keep going and make sure we felt secure about what we were doing.

Highly recommend Sophie and this course.

User

Just had first aid training with Sophie the other day and really enjoyed it I loved doing the practical side of it. Also now as a mother I found it very useful to know about what to do with babies aswell as older children in my work place. Thank you it was brilliant :-)

I organised a course with Annabelle at my local venue for some nursery staff, parents and childminders (inc me). Everyone felt the course was informative and refreshed all our memories whilst updating us on new practices. Annabelle was great really made the course enjoyable. I would recommend them for anyone considering paediatric first aid (for whatever reason)

User

I have just completed my Paediatric First Aid training with Early Years First Aid. It was an expertly delivered course over 2 days (not full days). The course leader Sophie was very friendly and accommodating to our groups needs. Everything was explained clearly and in great detail. I would definitely recommend this company if you need to update or obtain a first aid qualification with children. Thank you!

User

I had a group booked paediatric first aid course today with Sophie and as a childminder who has attended council run and St. John's ambulance courses in the past I found Sophie to be better than them in every way.

She talented it to our environment and it felt easy and open to ask any questions as we went along. It was up to date with all new legislations and detailed in any changes that had happened or are about to.

I highly recommend her and her courses and look forward to seeing her again soon on some more training xx

User

I cant thank Sophie enough, she has gone way beyond expectations, not only did she train my staff but gave me all information that I needed and answered my questions at any time, Sophie helped with the writing of policy's and procedures of my new nursery opening in September which Ofsted loved. To top it off she is very reasonable with her costings.

User

Did the early years first aid course a few weeks back with several colleagues which was run by Sophie and it was fantastic, thank you.

Can not fault you at all, covered all we needed and were completely down to earth .

Would highly recommend to anyone.
