#SelfCare is about keeping yourself fit and healthy, understanding what you can do to look after yourself. Sometimes you may forget to take care of yourself as you are busy taking care of other people but your wellbeing is important too! #SelfCareWeek

User

Would like to thank the a&e department as back in February this year the staff along with the wonderful Dr Kahn found a lump on my spine and acted so quickly with the transfer to St. George's that I am now in full recovery! Thank goddess for the NHS xxx

User

We visited children's a&e today for my 9month old, he had a extremely high temperature and was seen the second we walked through the doors. The first nurse that came to see us (Rebecca a student nurse) was fantastic, not only with my little boy who got quite upset so she got him lots of toys and bubbles (which he loved and quickly cheered him up) but also with me, a very panicked and upset mumma! Not too long after we got to see a Doctor, unfortunately I don't know her name but she was so lovely and answered all my silly questions and really reassured me. They quickly discovered my poor pickle has tonsillitis, got his temperature down and we have been able to go home. Thank you so much to all the lovely and caring staff, I couldn't be happier with the care we received today!

User

Today my son had his tonsils and adenoids out. I really can’t thank the staff on Ebbisham children’s day case ward. All of them have been so caring, friendly and really reassuring. Big thanks to Jane McCourt who looked after us so well. Lovely. Such a lovely hospital

User

My baby boy was admitted to Casey Ward on 12/3/18 via A&E as he was very poorly but we weren’t sure what was going on with him. From the minute we stepped foot in the hospital to when we were discharged yesterday the care we had was fantastic. The Drs were very thorough and caring. The nurses were lovely and made a very stressful time more easy to cope with. They were caring, professional and always made time for is despite being very busy. I would like to thank every who cared for Teddy and helped him get better and give me my happy smiley boy back!! Xxx

User

Just leaving Epsom hospital I can not fault it , from the front desk to the Doctors excellent service . Well done Epsom keep up the super work you all do !! Even down to the cleaners . People are very quick to complain but never praise !! Go NHS

User

I was last on morning day surgery list so had a fairly long wait but not a problem as ward, staff and other patients were all fine. I was extremely anxious about the general anesthesia but all went out of their way to make me comfy and actually it was fine and I had made it much more a problem in my mind then it was. After care in hospital was perfect and I was truly looked after. All the staff working flat out and deserve medals (and a pay rise Mrs May)! A really big Thank you to all involved, some things are more appreciated then words can say.

User

Brilliant hospital, cant fault them at all. Everyone from every department & every member of staff from A&E to children’s ward, outpatients, Paediatricians, play therapists, nurses, healthcare assistants and the home care team have been amazing. We have spent a lot of time there, the last few months and even when they have been extremely busy we have always been kept informed, nothing is every too much and the time has always been taken to ensure all the information given has been fully understood, all questions have been answered and the staff spend time getting to know the patients and interacting with them and treating them on an individual basis.

User

Been here since Wednesday after having a total right knee replacement. Couldn't recommend the staff any more, all have been wonderful. Pacu team were excellent and all the day and night staff on oaks have been very tentative. Even the physio ladies have been lovely even though all the hard work and pain they have given me to get my leg working again. ( just a tip for other patients. Get your meds in you a good half an hour before they arrive). Still here for a few more days. Need to master the crutches and then the stairs.

User

Always treated well at this Hospital, although they are extremly under staffed,

The drs are well there drs, they come and go as they please, But my real praise is the RGNs and The care staff, as they are rushing around like blue ass flys and get all the grief from patients,

Cant remember the names as most of my visits were not too good, but i remember the faces, and just wished these ladies were given the pay rises they deserve as i cant say in writing just how much they had to do the nights i was here,

👍🏻

Never in 44 years have I had to make a complaint until now. After a nurse reducing a sick man to tears and despite having serious infections and heart failure, made him feel reluctant to go back to a&e (even though the Drs advised), if it wasn't for 111 and the amazing ambulance crew and dedicated staff admitting him, who knows what i'd be writing. The nurse was dangerous and unqualified in what she said, in contradiction to Drs and beyond dispassionate and caring. Yet for all the other staff I cannot praise enough. Recent experience with amazing ambulance crew, High Dependency staff who are truly magnificent and admirable and also in particular a reception lady in Coronary care couldn't be more professional. Unfortunately one 'person' could've made it too late for for another. Truly despicable and dangerous.

My wife gave birth here on Monday 23rd April. Labour started well but after a few complications things changed for the worse. Baby was delivered with the assistance of two doctors, and three midwifes. She was not breathing and was resuscitated on the spot. mother was taken to theatre for treatment. Both have recovered well and I cannot thank everybody enough for the amazing and professional service we received. From doctor who took charge of the delivery to the lady that took food orders. Everybody has been amazing.

A special thank you to our primary carer, a midwife by the name of Rafael Olivio. If you see this, please do get in touch.

User

Just want to say how brilliant all the staff in A&E and the ambulance crew were on Monday 5/3 with my wife Elaine . Moved up to AMU Monday night, what a wonderful caring team they are up there. Only missing link was the sorting out of prescription meds but sorted in the end - Took a day and a half hence only four*. She is now in Alex ward, let’s hope thing are as good here?

Apart from what felt like a rather chaotic admission process for scheduled orthopaedic surgery. The letter said to go to the Swift day care unit but we were then sent back down to the 1st floor for 'check in' which was basically a waiting room with a couple of offices where you saw the anaesthetist, consultant and physio and then got into your gown and walked to theatre. I absolutely get the idea of not taking up beds before you actually need one but feel some basic communication about how it worked would have been really helpful and could easily be done by signage or even the 'reception' member of staff on arrival. I also noticed that you don't get told where you are on the list. I realise this can change, and in my case it did, but even so this would give patients an indication of when they might expect to go to theatre. All of these things would be really simple to address and I believe would make for a better patient experience. However from the point at which I was escorted to theatre all the way through to my discharge I cannot fault the staff and care I received. I actually commended the anaesthetist at the time about her lovely calming manner! The staff in recovery, on Swift and the porter who wheeled me out were all great, friendly and couldn't do enough for me. Thank you...if you could address some of the basic 'patient service' areas I've mentioned this could be a 5 star rating.

My appointment with my Neurologist was very good, it was the "service" from the Pharmacy that was awful.

I arrived there to be told that I had an hour wait, I was given a number and asked to sit in the waiting room. On the wall is an electronic number board. Having studied it for an hour with hardly any number changes i overhear that the board is not working!

I went back to the Pharmacy and was told I was next, in the end I waited for 2 hours, on Top of this when i got home my prescription was incorrect. I am still waiting for a call back to discuss.

User

Always positive until last nights antics. The nurses are fab really carry A and E. jam packed waiting room. I expected to wait for a while. Once seen nurses were very helpful. Then waiting for doctor number 1 who didn't even bother to read my notes before coming to me. Then moved to another side part to then have another doctor call up and down the small ward my Sir name like called for a dog. To just say here's the meds and off you go. Not even discussing my case with oncall doctor I'm currently under. While I appreciate it was busy and staff under stress people need to be treated like human beings not bits of meat.

User

Worst hospital I’ve known. Amount of misdiagnoses they’ve diagnosed to my family let alone all the others I’ve heard from friends and their family is unbelievable. Sending my mum home after violently vomiting for 4 weeks straight, twice - yeah twice she went up and twice they turned her away, only to find out she has pancreatitis, fluid in her lungs and a very high heart rate which now she is being put on a ventilator in St Heliers for. And with her history I thought they might of been more cautious with her! Considering she had a double lung transplant a few years ago! This may have just been prevented if they actually helped her the first time she went in.

User

Trying 4 months now to get scans sent from Epsom to UCL...it is like trying to get blood out of a rock! Without the scans we cannot get a diagnosis! The actual nursing and care is brilliant but sadly the front of house managing Dr's and Consultants paperwork is a mess!!!! How many more phone calls do I have to make?? Do I need to get my local MP involved, PALS again who are also useless or go to the papers. I am so fed up! I am at breaking point! Seriously Epsom you need to sort it out!

User

This is an A&E review. Minimum wait time at A&E... 8 hours. How busy they are makes no difference. It can be only another person waiting there and still have to wait 8 hours. They ask the same questions again and again and they make mistakes. This place is dangerous. I wish there was another hospital near me, avoid if you can. I pray before using their services.

User

The antenatal clinic here is a mess. I was advised by one the doctors there to arrange a scan for the next day due to me experiencing reduced foetal movement. When I attempted to do this the next day I was told I was wasting valuable time and that their staff had much more urgent cases than my own to deal with. I was refused a scan as my circumstances didn’t warrant one. I’m too scared to return now. I don’t feel like any concern would be taken seriously. This isn’t how a patient ought to be treated. Who do I turn to now if I’m worried in pregnancy? I’m very disappointed in you Epsom Hospital! 😡
