Recently I was asked ‘Am I a good rider?’, sat upon her 14.2 cob, covered in poo stains that she couldn’t quite get out before her lesson, that she had persuaded her mum to buy a year ago for just £400. (The pony wasn’t wanted anymore) ‘Why do you ask that?’ I replied for she knew how this young girl felt,
... ‘Because I want to be one' I pondered for a minute and then said, ‘A good rider is not someone who buys flashy horses and competes every Saturday and makes it to the top within a year. A good rider is not one whom jumps the highest jumps or owns the fastest horse. A good rider isn’t made just because they’ve been riding since they were 3. A good rider is not someone who can move their forward horse forward... A good rider is not someone WHOM tells everyone else what to do but can't do it themselves
A good rider is that pony clubber you see fall off every time she gets on something new, yet still gets back on with a smile on her face, A good rider is that person who cries in the tack room because of how her horse behaved and how hard it’s been to cope watching everyone else be successful, but to that person it seems like she is the only one failing, yet still rewards the horse with a good rub down and a lovely thick bed
A good rider is the boy with the angel horse, yet doesn’t claim any of its successes for himself “‘It was all him’”, he would say, “‘I just sat to it’”
A good rider listens to the correct qualified people A good rider is soft and works with the horse A good rider makes sure the horse is always happy,
If you love it, and you try, and you try again, even when you fall off and it was your fault, even when people point because your equine is not "'on the bit'" or "you have no saddle"
if you never give up, despite what everyone pointing the finger says
That’s what makes a good rider’

Next time you watch your favourite ‘horse guru’ let a young horse buck with the saddle, remember this: Bucking is a last line of defence for a young horse. A young horse bucks because he’s frightened of the saddle and can see no other way. Some horses never get over this terrifying experience.
How about fly masks or rugs ?
This is the first time Herbie has ever wore a fly face protector. Lets see how he got on.
... I know there is a easier route, why not join me on the path

So proud of Callum and chole both attend there first showing show with there favourite ponies. And I'm so pleased to say they both qualified for Hickstead. These two have come on so well learning how to ride and care for there ponies (mine but treated as there own).
Fourtnighly lesson consistently change to weekly a month before the show so we could practice together what was needed for the judge.
... You don't need to own a pony to do anything here. Just need to join in learn your passion and practice.
Thank you for the helpers (nephews and nices) and grandparents and aunties that came along to support and make for a great day out.
I'l sort a bbq next time when I have both arms working lol
Me and Ash so proud of my top students and friends Chole and Callum

User

Completely weather dependant
Planning an open day this Thursday if your interested in learning more about equines and what exactly is involved in
Equine Behavioural Training... learning to ride or regaining confidence riding
please come down and meet the ponies if you want to bring any friends the more the better advisable to pm in advance
We have pony rides as usual around the field raising money for local charities for children

I had Mia come out to Clip

My pony isn't always easy, he can be a difficult, strong, determined Welsh pony. He can make life difficult for some people whilst clipping, Mia was wonderful with him! He went from being a sleepy pony to a devil! Mia was so patient she knew just what to do with him and he once again stood still for a few minutes. Mia had a good eye when clipping her lines were straight and she even got near his ears! Im so pleased I'll definitely be asking Mia to come back again.
