This is a challenging hike to ascend the North side of Pen y Fan and then do the full horseshoe taking in Cribyn (795m), Fan y Big (729m) and descending to the Upper Neuadd reservoir before climbing back up onto Craig Fan Du (873m) and the walk back over Pen Y Fan (886m) and return to the car park where it all began.
It is a big day with just over 1000m of ascent and about 20km or so in length. It would be ideal for members who enjoy lots of up combined with distance and also would be very good training for challenge events such as the National 3 Peaks and Yorkshire 3 Peaks.
ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?

All inclusive weekend escape in Exmoor National Park
Come and join us on another 'escape' weekend to the smallest National Park in the UK, staying in Scandinavian-style cottages.
A unique landscape of moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland, shaped by people and nature over thousands of years. Where high cliffs plunge into the Bristol Channel, and cosy pubs and tearooms offer delicious local produce.
... On Exmoor it is still possible to find tranquillity and peace as well as rediscover your sense of adventure; to catch a glimpse of wild red deer, be amazed by dark skies full of stars, and explore villages full of character.
Exmoor is a unique place shaped by people and nature over thousands of years and is recognized as one of the UK's finest landscapes. Large areas of open moorland provide a sense of remoteness and tranquillity rare in southern Britain. Spectacular coastal views, deep wooded valleys, high sea cliffs and fast flowing streams all combine to form a rich and distinct mosaic.
It is a landscape that has inspired poets writers and artists for hundreds of years and continues to inspire people today.
Accommodation:
We have exclusive hired 3 Scandinavian-style cottages nestle in grass paddocks on the side of a valley in the heart of the Exmoor National Park. All on a working 500 acre hill farm. The surrounding area is ideally suited for hiking and mountain biking. Dogs are permitted, there is an additional charge of £3 per night. (Please check with Organiser before booking).
Each cottage has a double room for couples or twin rooms, come with their own bathroom, lounge and kitchen and fully heated. We have a cottage sleeping 4, 5 and 8.
HIKES
You have the choice of joining in on either a shorter or longer hikes. The hikes are approximately 8.5 to 10 miles for the shorter routes - 13 to 16 miles for the longer routes. All hikers will be briefed on the hike options, routes and what to expect from the terrain and weather conditions.

A week's trip learning to cross country ski and snowshoeing

Who could possibly have thought it a good idea to combine a 26.2-mile run with a feast of oysters, cheese, entrecôte and foie gras, all washed down with up to 23 glasses of wine? Well, the French, of course.
Dress up, drink wine and explore the most famous vineyards of France! Join us for the whackiest and booziest Marathon, the 2018 Marathon du Medoc.
This is the only run that will ever stand up to the claim of a FUN RUN!! For those of us who went on this trip in 2017, rated... this as one of the top ever events. It's a party, a carnival, a fun run and a wine chateau crawl all in one!
Can anyone enter - Yes. Most of us who entered last year had only done a few miles of running before, you have over 6 hours to drink and eat your way around the course so many do it walking (not necessarily in a straight line).
It's not just about the run!
Stroll the most graceful streets in France, eat well, drink better and then have the liveliest possible time in a city lately in touch with its Latin side. It is no hazard that, following its 2007 classification as a World Heritage Site, Bordeaux in 2015 bagged the title of Europe's Best Destination.
Come and join us on this 3 day trip. Full details can be found on the event page: https://www.meetup.com/EscapeYourEveryday /events/245911764/
