Eternal Guitars & Pickups Description
Our stock instruments use the highest quality components and hardware available, our own handmade pickups and genuine nitrocellulose lacquer. These instruments can be purchased via the website and they can be viewed by appointment.
Necks are shaped to the customers preference of back profile and radius and fitted with high quality Dunlop or Jescar fretwire and clay dot markers (on rosewood fingerboards) before finishing in a paper thin vintage tint nitrocellulose lacquer which is aged to suit the model or customers requirements.
We use Gotoh, Kluson or Callaham hardware which is aged to match the chosen wear level for the body and neck. Scratchplates are Bakelite or standard plastic and also aged to taste. We use my handmade pickups exclusively which are built to offer superior tone using the best parts available – they come with period correct cloth hook-up wire and the covers are also aged to taste.

The very lovely Alex Ward collected his Custom all mahogany, set-neck S-Type today and even though he was hungover he managed to squeeze out a short demo of the bespoke wound bridge pickup for us. In addition to the Hot Rod Pickups the guitar also incorporates a modified LR Baggs piezo system and we’ll post a full spec. and pics very soon. Alex was en route to Bristol where the guitar will be used in anger tonight for the Women In Rock UK touring show.

Our friend Jamie West-Oram from The Fixx is currently selling this wonderful PRS that he used on the bands 'Beautiful Friction' album. The guitar is a beaut and we had the pleasure of performing a full fret-dress and thorough set-up on it this week to ensure it's in top condition for whoever buys it. Many of you will know Rob from Chichester College where he teaches Music Tech. Sadly his beloved Hamer semi-acoustic was badly damaged when a photography student borrowed it for a shoot then accidentally dropped it. Although in a relatively small area the impact had broken the fingerboard and binding as well as a small portion of the maple neck as well as the obvious lacquer damage. The only way to return it to its former glory was to strip the lacquer off the neck, remove the frets, repair the damaged rosewood, replace the binding, frets and then and then refinish the neck. Matt undertook the job here and as the pics show the result was almost better than we could have hoped and Rob was very pleased indeed!

The lovely (and unfairly talented) Pete Callard was in today to collect his much loved and heavily used ‘93 Strat. We re-fretted it to give it a new lease of life and also installed a whole new pickguard and electronics along with a set of our Hot Rod ‘Ozone’ singlecoils in neck and middle with an ‘S90’ in the bridge position. I ambushed him to record this brief clip and he kindly obliged with some tasty chords and quality licks...🤓
Wonder if the apprentice has his mobile phone in his right hand, just out of view...
Happy (slightly belated) New Year to all of our customers and followers. We took a little break from social media over the festive period which was good for the soul but we're back now and keen to crack on into 2019. 2018 was a great year for us with a record number of pickup sales, custom builds and of course the hundreds of guitars that we set-up and repaired for you lot. Your continued support is not only appreciated but vital as we slowly build the business and what we ca...n offer. A big chunk of last year was spent developing our pickup range and behind the scenes we've been planning/writing a new website and as soon as it's ready we'll also be debuting some cool new pickup models based on your feedback. We had a small change in personnel with Luke 'Babs' Tickner moving on to pursue his musical career (thank you for the good vibes and giggles!) and we welcomed Sam 'Flash' Brooks to the fold who alongside Matt continue to help make Eternal Guitars your local, one-stop repair and custom workshop. I first discovered Eternal Guitars after moving to Chichester from Brighton in 2016. I was looking for somebody local to set up my guitars, but I found so much more. Dave Walsh (along with Matt and Luke) runs a one-stop shop for repairs, hand-wound pickups and custom builds.
After having a number of guitars set up I decided to go for a custom build, which shortly led to a second. Dave and the guys at Eternal have built, from the ground up, two of the best Strat-style guitars I've ever owned. I would strongly recommend Eternal to anybody either looking for a custom build, excellent hand-wound pickups or simply the best set up and repair work around.
I can’t recommend Eternal Guitars highly enough - brought my treasured old Tele in for a refurbish and Dave and his guys have worked their magic on it - a re-fret, sorted the electronics and a potted history of what a genuine old Fender should look like, and plays like new again - really pleased. Do not hesitate to bring your gear here - you won’t be disappointed! - thanks Dave!
