Do you dip your big end in oil?
No, I’m not getting too personal and I haven’t stepped over the line of political correctness, it’s a real question and one that is important to the performance of your karts.
So, do you soak your engine parts in oil before using them?
... The manufacturers of many of Fastline’s internal engine parts apply a thin film of oil to the parts before packaging but shipping and storage will affect the amount that is on the product when it gets to you.
This is partly done for preventing rust during transport and storage but also for better initial performance after installation.
Therefore, its best practice to give these parts a good soak in 10W/40 (Honda’s grade of choice for the GX series) and let the oil get right in all those little nooks and cranies.
That way all parts are well lubricated before their first use which will reduce any friction or excess heat generated by dry parts.
The result, parts and engines last longer!
If you need any quality aftermarket engine parts or some good quality Rock Oil the give us a call and we’ll be more than happy to help you oil your Big End!

3 Ways Trophies Help You Get More Business
When you are a busy track owner you have so much on your mind that it's easy to overlook the small things. But sometimes the small things can have a big impact.
Did you know giving out trophies can be a great way to increase your sales and get more customers. Here’s why…
... 1. Trophies give people BRAGGING rights – people love to share their wins and they love a good ego boost. They will post on social media and brag about it at the office or down the pub.
2. People don’t throw trophies in the bin – most flyers/business cards end up in the bin and don’t help keep you top of mind with your customer, but a branded trophy will not end up in the bin and act as a constant reminder.
3. It makes their visit more memorable – people don’t come to drive a kart, they are looking for an experience, make them feel like a racing God with a trophy and ceremony.
Remember not all trophies are created equal, some are more treasured than others.
They are also a great upsell for events which helps increase your profit margins.
If you are struggling to provide the best experience for your customer book in a call and I’ll be happy to divulge some tricks that are working well for other customers.

Silent Blocks
Silent blocks are the one thing that absorbs the impacts to your kart’s chassis and are a highly consumable part.
Let’s face it kart manufacturers don’t produce this part they buy it in and more than likely they use the same source we do so why does it cost you up to 50% more when you buy it from them?
... The answer is simple “they are greedy” you know it, I know it!
So why waste your hard-earned cash on a overinflated product when you can get the SAME item cheaper from Fastline.
We have all the major manufacturers sizes and if we don’t have the size you are after let me know and I can source it for you.

Buying on the internet
Earlier this month I saw this wonderful machine that automatically ironed your shirts it could save me a couple of hours each week and it was only £80 for the first 100 buyers.
So, I whipped out my card and purchased it, that was back on the 6th of December.
... I got a receipt and after a week of not receiving it I sent an email to the supplier asking for shipping details.
Two weeks went past and finally I got some tracking details which I looked up and it said it had been delivered, but I didn’t receive it, so another email was sent a week ago and I’m still waiting for a response.
What looked like a great bargain that would save me a load of time has turned out to be a real hassle.
This should not really come as a surprise to me I hear these stories all the time from kart centres.
Should you really be spending hours searching ebay or Alibaba just to save a few quid? If you factor in all the wasted time and hassle, it’ll probably end up costing you more than you think.
Fastline has spent years forging relationships and putting in the hours to find the very best manufacturers in China. So you can benefit from the £1M pound buying power we have.

Add On Activities
Many of our customers are starting to bolt on more, varied activities to their kart track.
It could be laser tag, arcade games, or bowling the list really is endless.
... But is this worth the hassle? Well the customers who have done this are reporting increased revenue.
One business increased turnover by 35%, 20% of the increase was linked to new activities and 15% was growth in kids karting. A direct result of attracting a different demographic.
The idea here is simple increase Average Customer Value (ACV) by keeping your customers in your venue longer spending at a constant rate.
Disney has been aware of this trick for many years but go kart centres are taking longer to catch on.
But there is also another benefit, it also encourages a different demographic and plays to the demand of families.
People these days are looking for an entertainment destination where different activities are located.
Simply taking on a coffee machine and pizza oven does little to encourage people to stay longer especially when Pizza Express is just done the road and have better coffee and pizza.
Do a little research, think about the demographic you want to attract and choose activities that will interest them. Look beyond your backyard.

I got a lovely postcard from a customer today.
He has taken his wife and kids to a Caribbean Island for two weeks which he has not been able to do for several years since opening his kart track.
Apparently, this year was different and he tells me it’s all down to doing business with Fastline.
... He consolidated a lot of his purchasing with us last January and he reckons he has saved about 1-2 days a month and enough money for two weeks at a five-star resort in the Caribbean.
That is the best Christmas present one can get, knowing you have made someone’s life that little bit easier.
So if you would like less hassle, more time, a load more cash in your pocket and two weeks in the sunny Caribbean maybe we should be having a chat.
Everybody is looking for a bit more time and some extra cash and it could be as easy as changing one number.

Right Place, Right Time
Hi
I need a new car but being a busy business owner the only spare time I have to look for one is on a weekend.
... So last Saturday myself, Mrs H and the kids jumped in the car and went over to a couple of dealerships.
The car is for the business so I was looking for a van or a utility and I was looking for a lease so we trundled down to the dealership where we had got Mrs H’s current car.
The salesman trundles over and we inform him that we wanted to take a look at the Navara. He politely asked if the car was for business to which I responded “yes”.
He then went on to tell me that he could not help me and I needed to come back between business hours Monday to Friday.
But all I wanted was to look at the car and take it for a test drive and there was no less than three on the yard, yet I had to come back during the hours I’m normally working!
We do things a little differently here at Fastline
Which is why you can generally catch me on a weekend if you call.
If you catch yourself short of anything between Christmas and the New Year we, like yourselves are open for business and dispatching goods so call us on +44 (0)1276 297 38

A New Era is Here
2019 is fast approaching and I wanted to share some of the things I’ve learnt in 2018.
I’ve spent a lot of time at the coal face of our business, talking to and more importantly LISTENING to our customers and several common problems keep recurring, lack of time, last minute ordering and the sting of having to cough up large sums of cash for capital items.
... This has really bothered me, I can see customers struggling and paying above the odds because they are reactionary.
Well for a select few this is all about to change, we have developed a couple of new programs which will enable YOU to claw back time, be more organised and afford to equip yourselves with new fleets of helmets and racesuits without having to cough up large sums of cash in one hit!
So, if you would like to save a tonne of time, have parts available when you need them and smooth out your capital purchases all with minimal effort, then we need to have a chat.
Fancy more time to promote your business or spend with your family? Then drop me an email sales@fastlinegroup.com or call us on +44 (0)1276 297 38
You need to move fast if you want 2019 to be smooth sailing as we have limited spaces available, 27 to be exact.

Demand for consumers discretionary income is intensely competitive and there are now even more activities competing for a slice of it.
So having the longest track, fastest karts or the LATEST karts does not cut it anymore, YOUR customers are looking for an experience.
YOU need to have the whole package right!
... If your customer arrives and is greeted by a receptionist who is busily updating their Facebook status and after waiting for them to finish is handed a faded, tatty race suit which has seen better days.
Then being sent down the hall into a grotty changing room, made to sit through a boring monotone briefing.
And finally is handed a two year old helmet which smells like a bad stag do.
At this point you could put them in a Formula 1 car and they still would come away with a bad experience.
If you have gone to the effort and hard work of getting these customers through your doors don’t let the small things ruin your efforts.
They are here for an experience, it’s YOUR job to provide it.
Your staff are key to providing that experience, your interface to the customer and so you need to make sure they are trained and empowered to deliver.
Oh and if you need new race suits, helmets or trophies drop me an email sales@fastlinegroup.com or call

Run Around Sue
Last weekend we did something unusual, we went out with our friend Jon for lunch and had a stroll around Virginia Waters.
This may not sound unusual to you but to catch up with Jon on the weekend for us is. You see Jon is one of these guys who shops around for his weekly food shop.
... There's no clocking up nectar points at Sainsbury's or Tesco points for them, they just drive around for their "savings".
Now I have to confess that I don't do the household shop, Lauren my better half does a superior job in that regards for the family, but she shops at the same supermarket each week.
It makes a lot of sense.
You see, I uncovered that, instead of a brief three quarters of an hour visit to the shops he takes nearly three hours to do his shopping.
The sum total he saved last week? Well we reckoned it up and uncovered about £4. He spent that much in petrol and lost hours of time and we didn't take into account any loyalty bonuses.
It's bonkers.
But this week we convinced him that shopping at one place makes sense and he did, hence the lunch!

Clutches
I mentioned before about the variation in quality of Chinese parts, which has led many to be sceptical of aftermarket parts.
Wet clutch kits is one of these parts, I searched high and low across the far east in search of the best clutch plates and never found them.
... Not one to be beaten, I sort out a motorcycle clutch manufacturer who made OEM clutches for some of the biggest names in the business.
Anne and I flew out to visit them. Now flying in china is an interesting experience, no one checks their luggage it’s all carry on and the flights are fully loaded, so the air hostesses have become very adept at packing overhead compartments and often it is stored in the toilet or Galley for overflow.
I digress, we took some genuine clutch plates and some aftermarket ones explained to their technicians how these were used and abused in our industry (explaining double pedalling was fun!).
Well they went off and did their thing and we got a prototype which after a few tweaks was ready for testing. The test results were amazing they outlasted any aftermarket part by 2-3 times and were just shy of the genuine article, not bad for something a sixth of the price.
It’s now our biggest selling product so 1,200 customers in 93 counties can’t be wrong check it out at www.fastlinegroup.com

Don’t get Deflated
Most kart tracks I visit have marshals aged about 16-18 years old who have yet to grasp attention to detail or care for equipment that is not their own and I’ll have at a guess your track is not much different.
Checking tyre pressures and inflating under pressured tyres is an occurrence that happens a couple of times a day. A frequent request from mechanics is for a tyre gauge that is accurate and will survive the constant dropping and abuse that marshals w...ill subject it too.
You see under inflated or over inflated tyres will impact on tyre wear, Over inflate and your tyres will wear faster, under inflate the tyres will wear unevenly.
So it’s important to have a durable and accurate tyre gauge.
Never fear we have sourced one for you, just like the one you use at the local garage to pump up your car tyres, its robust, accurate and at a price that will not break the bank.
You can find them here https://www.fastlinegroup.com/professiona l-air-gauge.html…

I order regularly from Canada. The prices, even when factoring in shipping and import duties are in most cases lower landed at my door (with express 2 day shipping) then purchasing from other warehouses in the US.
