best race course in the south of England ladies day was fab family days just brilliant nothing can beat a good day at fontwell

User

always have a great time and food in the premier lounge restaurant been about 10 time now love it

User

We attended the firework display last night. Fireworks, fun fair, food and staff was great. Will be back next year thanks for a great night out

User

Twinkle Twist Events team had a day at Fontwell Park Races today, 06.12.16 and it was a truly fabulous day! The atmosphere was great, the staff friendly, warm & helpful and we will definitely be booking again for next year!

The cherry on the cake for us would have been some festive stalls in the grounds selling festive products, but this is just a personal choice and didn't taint our day at all. A fantastic day out!

User

Lovely afternoon at the Easter family meeting. Easter egg hunt was fun and the farm animals were lovely.

Even managed a winner had our picnic in the middle lovely day.

User

I had such a wonderful day out with the family last weekend that I thought I'd write to let you know all the staff and entertainment were so professional. It was a great family day. I have kids aged 3, 10 and 14 and they all had things to do. I will definately be back as we all had such a relaxing fun day thank you.

User

I did the disco for the wedding on Saturday night lovely people .and the staff at fontwell were very helpful thanks all

User

Had an amazing time yesterday (28th may 2017) for the family fun day it was our 1st time going and we really enjoyed it! For a family of 9 like mine (2 adults and 7 children) it was perfect! And where else can you go where all kids get in free and all the attractions when you get in are free! (Apart from a couple of the side stalls but they was cheap) Definitely a very cheap day out for us! Would definitely go again :)

User

Had a lovely 60 th birthday with my wife to be and son phil at the races 15th june 2017. First visit for all of us and we wernt dissapointed. Lovely racecourse and good amenities and very friendly staff. Great close to the action and relaxed atmosphere. Will deffintley be making a return visit soon .

Great atmosphere, excellent customer service and lovely food. Will definitely be back 👍🏻

User

Fontwell is a great race course, u get close to the horses and can see all round the course. Always have a great day. Looking forward to my next visit would recommend it everyone.

User

Firstly I would like to say thankyou to fontwell for putting on such a great event, myself, my partner and my children had a brilliant time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I have been going to fontwell events for years and in response to another review I feel that the little monster team were put under a lot of pressure and handled the situation extremely well. There were many other things there that smaller children could have gone on. Unfortunately the lady felt the need to shout and argue and quite frankly I felt embarrassed for her. From what I could see and hear little monsters team tried there best to help with her child so that he could still be involved but it was not and would never have been enough for her. Well done little monster for handling the situation so well. On a lighter note my children had a lovely time and It was a nice family day out, my only complaint is that I think the toilets needed to be checked a little more as toilet roll was a little scares.

User

Fantastic owner hospitality, our horse Nelson's Victory didn't like the soft ground but a great day was had by all due to your superb hospitality, many thanks Fontwell Park.

User

Fabulous place....really enjoyable day...even though as soon as i walked in the entrance i fell over and fractured by ankle in 2 places

User

Did the Easter family day with some other Mums and kids. Best time every. Kids happy had our picnic and kids went on the free rides. Horse racing great and even managed to win a few pound. Great day out for all.

User

Brilliant. You cannot get closer to the horses at any track than here...well worth the 11 hour round trip!!!

User

Brilliant race night plus Queen tribute despite the chilly weather and i' m not a Queen fan! These are always good night's at Fontwell and yesterday didn't disappoint.

User

Brilliant day out at the family fun day! First day at the races for all of us, won't be the last for sure!!

User

Brilliant day at the family funday was a great family day really enjoyed our time here thank you for such a great day x

User

Always a great event, especially when the weather stays fine. I'm still trying, without any luck, to find out if the horse in the penultimate race called Walter White recovered ok, or not, hopefully he did!

User

first time to fontwell we had this as a present but had to phone 4 days before as we had no tickets and never received a confirmation email and was unable to book a hotel and make a better day of it, been other race courses and my only complaint the bookies are in the wrong place close to grandstand and a main walk way it got very congested and unable to walk freely about food and drink prices are pretty much the same as other venues the place it self is great easy access to parade ring winners enclosure and great views of the course all in all a great day and will defo be coming back oh its great to have parking attendants on arrival but the could be used on exit as well to make the traffic flow better bit of a free for all on exit

User

Went for the fireworks night. Paid extra for hospitality which was lovely, until we had to evacuate the building due to an alleged possible fire . Yet no fire alarms... Hmm bit fishy to me. So rather than sit and enjoy our drinks until the car park returned to some level of normality, we had to join the madness. Fireworks were wonderful but a bit short for a paid display (15 mins). I've been to free displays which were much longer so can't give the whole experience 5 stars.

User

It wasn't a bad day .lovely weather not to busy however I felt the racecard was weak also the lager choices were lacking session brand ie fosters, carling so not a bad day as we won but I've had better at fontwell

User

I liked it very much racing wS good but the beer was poor quality overpriced and the food likewise.

User

Great racetrack with free parking. Stewards organised the parking well. All the facilities are close together and well managed.

My only bugbear is the catering. They have a stall selling hot drinks and food. The tea is disgusting. Surely if you want to charge £2 for a cup of tea (and make the punters add their own milk) you could at least buy decent t-bags rather than some giant bag of cheap cra* bought from the cash and carry.

The foot long sausages at £1 for every 2 inches are just as bad. The “beef” sausage is in reality just a cheap saveloy and it is served in a disgusting, tasteless piece of cardboard bread. Absolutely foul and a disgrace.

The board of the racetrack really should investigate who they invite to cater for their customers.

User

Great day out and the marquee what fabulous, plenty of buffet brunch and mini afternoon tea.. The only negative I can give , it needs hard standing parking. We got stuck and needed the tractor to pull us out having spent ages trying to push ourselves out in the freezing rain on Boxing Day . Needs Marshall’s to help with exiting especially in poor conditions

User

First time at fontwell and found the experience good ...nice racecourse with good views of every race ..what we liked about it was we could walk around every part of it in minutes seeing all aspects of the racing experience..queen tribute was brilliant .but a bit cold to be standing about watching !! ..the only moan we will have is the price of the food ..bit too expensive..lower the prices sell more ???

User

Another great family day at Fontwell, we didn't let the rain stop us having a picnic and family fun, centre ring parking, gazebo required for shade from the sun and a place that was dry for the rain, good day out, give it a go

User

Had a good day with the family, which was the main reason for going. My son and I like a bet but like always the race card was affected by late withdrawals. It wouldn't be so bad if more horses were in each race. So overall great day with family spoilt by some of the race card... oh as I had the last two winners covering our day out 3 stars is the best I can give for the card

User

First time visiting fontwell for a family fun day. Although overall myself & the children had a nice day it was tarnished by the lack of professionalism or customer care from little monsters event hire! I left a review reflecting the service, this was deleted from there page. We as a family paid £65 for tickets & felt it was unjust as my 4 year old was discriminated for his age & height at the owners discretion for 2 inflatables. (In my opinion he's a big lad for his age) He was allowed on assault course am but advised he wouldn't be allowed later when the teenagers were on. If this is the case you should consider doing age appropriate time slots. Not banish a child because your presumptuous about teenagers being rough?

He was allowed to enter the laser tent & participate without a gun? I had a hold of one & was surprised they were very light. On asking for a gun for him you refused telling me if he dropped it there £20000!!

Then turned away from trampolines @ 5pm as they were closing. We had questions for 25 min previously but my son got to worked up. Lucky for me Max the marketing manager for fontwell was very professional kind & understanding & explained my sons autistic & allowed him a couple of jumps. I did find it strange all the rides we encountered issues on were run by same lady, Who was neither bothered about coming across unprofessional or reducing a 4 year old to tears when he was told he could enter the laser quest but had his gun removed from him. (Previous child had given him a gun)

There were no signs stating height or age restrictions & if the reason was for safety alone I'd understand & expect a height age limit on a sign. However to be told the value of laser guns are £20,000 is unprofessional. You were happy to let him in without a gun ruling out safety as an issue. If your worried about children breaking them don't supply an event such as fontwell family fun day, anyone adult or child could accidentally drop one!

You certainly attempted to take the fun out of my children's day & enjoyed relaying the issue to all your colleagues. Good job the rides in centre course were adequately run with staff were polite & professional. It's a shame our first time to fontwell was not what we completely expected after reading all the literature sent out.

The toilets were clean & plenty off them so no horrendous Que, albeit no toilet roll come 3 o'clock. There was adequate bins for rubbish. The day could be a lot better if there was better notice of age restrictions etc & times rides close & more for 4 & under. It's meant to be a family fun day which I'd anti air included smaller children.

Where do I start.....

It was my first time visiting fontwell and it will be my last.

As I thought parking would be so bad I parked down a side road and walked to the event (shouldn’t have to do) but glad I did. Cars everywhere!! No management for traffic or parking. Did get into the venue easy. (Before it got overcrowded)

Where was the fun fair?!

A few random stalls that looked like the prizes come off a back of a lorry and that’s even if you weren’t ripped off by the prices you won a prize. It’s a family event do you think we would all come with a bag of £50 notes!!

Food.....?! What food?!

Having just a couple of food vans for the amount of people at your event was not accommodated for at all!! The queues for a burger or hot dog was outrageous and tasted like sh*t. The sweet stall was just one big rip off and very unhygienic, the man on the stall was using his bare hands putting the candy floss in the buckets. Yuk! No way was your event accommodated for the amount of people there tonight.

Finally I guess I best mention the fireworks. What a poor display. Iv seen better at FREE advents. After having to wait longer as they were delayed (I understand) but also not fair for the people who had sat around for over 1.30 hours because what else was there to do. To call your event Disney fireworks was misleading to say the least. Fireworks were not to the rhythm of Disney songs more like Disney songs playing in the background. After such a long wait for the fireworks I was very disappointing when all the display went on for was 15 mins!! We had to guess the fireworks were finished, no announcement to finish off or to say thank you.

This event was not worth my money or time!!

User

What an absolute joke - queued for 1hr 30 mins (& before you say it - we left EARLY) had to park on the side of the road and race in to get our food, which we ended up nearly missing (I wish we had though). We ended up not eating as it smelt like the bin lorry on its way to the tip and was cold and inedible.

But it couldn’t get much worse right? Wrong... the fireworks were delayed, this we totally understood & agree with - after being stuck in traffic for so long, but was it worth the wait - oh hell no!

I’ve seen better fireworks at our local council displays and they are FREE!

So what did our family of 10 get out of spending silly money for ‘hospitality’ tickets?

Poor planning, no traffic guidance/assistance. No signage to show where we needed to go & a grumpy security guard nearly wetting himself when we came through the barrier ‘late’ then loosely flapping his arms in a bare attempt of direction (to the wrong place).

A glimpse of hope in the lady & gentleman on the ground floor restaurant showing us up to the top floor (via a staff corridor).

To watch a 15/20 min collection of fireworks, billed as a Disney display - in fact just being lit and going off to Disney music with no real correlation to each other & a meager 3 mins of ‘special’ ones to end the night.

£4 for a bag of candy floss that wouldn’t even feed a rat and don’t get me started on the pick and mix weight price!!!

What a waste of money & time. I can tick Fontwell off of my list - but it’s Goodwood all the way from now on.

Not a happy

User

It took us around 2 hours to get from Chichester to the event due to poor traffic management (as well as sheer volume of traffic which I fully appreciate is beyond your control.) We left with ample time to enjoy the activities on offer such as the fairground and food and drinks. We eventually got into the over crowded disorganised carpark at 8.10 and had to run to the entrance in time for the delayed start. We stood at the back of a bottle neck with terrible views of the display. The fireworks were enjoyable but not any better than you can see at free council run displays. The display was not synchronised to the music and the finale had NO music at all? Many people around us....and my family weren't sure if the display was finished as the music then started again once the fireworks had stopped. My children were so let down that we left as soon as we could get out of the venue. We then spent over an hour trying to leave your car park, the stewards had no idea what they were doing and were just allowing people to drive in all directions and it was a free for all, meaning those of us that had no choice but to park at the furthest point of the car park were simply not able to move. My children were so stressed and disappointed with the whole evening. If you intend on carrying out another event that is aimed at families you need to seriously reconsider your traffic management policies. I will be contacting your customer services team on Monday morning for a refund as I am honestly shocked at how appallingly run this event was. We finally got home to Portsmouth at 10.30 feeling thoroughly let down. I certainly won't be recommending your events or returning in the future.

User

If I could do 0 stars I would , worst organised fireworks display, you have let many people down all because you want the most “”

User

For such a large venue there was a complete lack of organisation at tonight's fireworks display. Took ages to get in and traffic was completely backed up due to a lack of car park Marshalls offering direction. It was absolutely

Rammed to the point where you had clearly sold too many tickets for the capacity. The fireworks were ok but nothing better than I've seen at free local displays. Then to top it all off it was complete carnage trying to get out, at both the race ground exit and the car park. Again the lack of Marshalls and organisation meant it took 50 minutes to make it out the car park. Had considered boxing day racing but won't be coming back to this venue again.

User

Awful place. Booked a private party here and somehow staff managed to manipulate this, cancelled it with 10 mins to go and still have over £1000 of my money. DO NOT BOOK

User

Attended St Patrick’s Day race meeting - opted for the lunch package. As a regular racegoer I was extremely disappointed with the service on this occasion and have written to Fontwell about this - they acknowledged my email and said they would reply but this has not been forthcoming. I subsequently contacted Clare Hogben (Hospitality & Events Manager) and Jonathon Acott (Executive Director) and neither have extended the courtesy of a reply. Service is clearly not high up the agenda at Fontwell so if you are planning a visit (particularly if it’s a special occasion) be aware.....

User

After attending a number of family events at Fontwell we thought we would try the firework display. Tonight was the first and last time!

We left in plenty of time to arrive for when the doors opened at 6pm to end up queuing in traffic along the A27 for 40 mins. We had no choice but to park on a grass verge and walk in so that the children would have enough time to go on a couple of rides and get some candy floss (£4 a bag!) before the display.

The fireworks were then delayed 15 minutes due to the congestion still going on outside the car park for us then to watch 15 minutes of fireworks which weren’t even in sync to the music.

This event was so badly organised and managed. What a waste of time and money!

Awful place. Booked a private party here and somehow staff managed to manipulate this, cancelled it with 10 mins to go and still have over £1000 of my money. DO NOT BOOK

Attended St Patrick’s Day race meeting - opted for the lunch package.

User

fun family day out. Lots to keep the children entertained for hours and you don't pay for them to go.

User

best race course in the south of England ladies day was fab family days just brilliant nothing can beat a good day at fontwell

User

always have a great time and food in the premier lounge restaurant been about 10 time now love it

User

User
