We received some very sad news today (Christmas Eve) about a family member in Newcastle. On our travel up from Southampton we had a wheel blow out at 3.30pm, called formular one autotyres (oxford) the nearest company that changes wheel tyres! The staff stayed on about 15 mins after closing time on their Christmas Eve! Well and truly saved our day, we can't thank you enough!

Staff all fantastic used it in a hurry when I had no brakes in Jan and was told of the offer on mot as I mentioned mine was due in Feb. At first I thought it would be a scam to pay £25 thought they would fail it ect ect... Took it and it passed not a problem. Unlike other places they don't rip you off and don't treat you like you know nothing. Will use them again for sure

Had my car in for a tyre patchwork, because of a nail stuck in it and was going through a very slow puncture. They completed the job in 25mins and offered me an explanation as well. Always good customer service here, very pleased to continue doing business with them

Where do I start?



Took my car in for an MOT, there were two customers in front of me, one being served and one waiting. I was greeted with "What's wrong, do you need the toilet or something?" by Stuart. Very rude and extremely unprofessional.



Came back later to find the MOT had failed due to part of the exhaust being damaged, I knew there was damage as I could hear the exhaust blowing before I took it in, however when I left the noise was twice as bad and I could feel the exhaust resonating heavily through the floor of the car.



Stuart also tried to charge me for the MOT even though I had already paid in advance online, I told him to check the system, after a few minutes he let me have my paperwork.



I was told the only way to fix the issue would be to replace the exhaust and was quoted £287.80 for the fix. My headlights were also out of alignment and one of my side repeaters was "the wrong colour", adding another £24 to my quote.



I took my car in to be fixed on Tuesday, When I arrived Stuart advised me that someone should have called me the day before to tell me the mechanic wouldn't be in and to reschedule, plus the two "tyre guys" had called in sick and there was only him and his MOT guy in.



I called the Area Manager to complain, he called me back later in the day to tell me that while he apologises for the inconvenience, the only reason I wasn't served was due to sickness. Contrary to what Stuart told me about knowing the mechanic wouldn't be in.



He then told me he would try to help by giving me a discount. When I asked him how much the discount would be and whether I could get a definitive quote that day he responded "it depends on the part being replaced, if there's less money in it for us the discount won't be much" and "you will definitely have a response with a quote from us today". I never received a quote or notice that a discount would be applied.



As I had already lost a day's work and didn't want to lose another. I went to another mechanic who told me that it didn't need replacing urgently and that it can be welded (he is a professional mechanic who has worked as one for many years and specialises in welding and MOTs). So I got this mechanic to weld the exhaust and adjust my headlights, unfortunately he didn't have a bulb to replace my side repeater.



I called F1 and told them I got the work done myself and could they fit me in to replace the bulb and do a retest, fortunately they managed to fit me in the same day. I left the mechanic and my exhaust was whisper quiet.



Got to F1 and was greeted by an angry MOT tester who had a go at me for not having my paperwork which I hadn't had a chance to get after travelling the whole way around Oxfordshire trying to find someone to fix my car. He said it was a huge inconvenience for him as now he has to print another copy.



He then took my keys and stormed off. A while later he came back and asked me if I replaced the side repeater bulb, I told him no as the other mechanic didn't have any spare and I was told I could get it replaced here by Stuart. He told me I was wrong and that they don't replace them.



He took a moment and told me he could replace it but if the casing breaks he would refuse to take responsibility. He broke the casing, replaced the bulb and superglued the casing back on.



When he was finished I was told that the MOT had passed and was presented with my bill which included a £20 charge for adjusting my headlights. I complained and told Stuart and the MOT guy that I already had them done elsewhere professionally with the right equipment. Their only response was "our equipment says otherwise", despite the fact that all MOT testers have to conform to the same standard. F1 conned me out of £20.



I reluctantly agreed to pay the bill so that I could be done with F1 and leave, then Stuart told me to hang on as he believed I owed them a lot more money for other work that had been done, I told him no other work had been done as I got it done elsewhere and I had told him this twice before, once on the phone when he told me he could fit me in for a retest, and again when I arrived for said retest.



After 10 minutes of Stuart faffing about in the office he finally came out and let me pay my bill.



I will not be a returning customer at Formula One Autocentres as I can get MOTs, professional repairs, professional and reliable service, and decent tires for decent prices elsewhere.



The employees and area manager should be ashamed to be providing such a low level of customer service and for the shady practice of forcing customers to pay for work that had been done elsewhere.



No customer should ever be spoken to or treated the way I was.

The price charged was more than market, price promise is a joke. The tyre which I ordered was Dunlop Sport 01 All Seasons, but supplied and fitted Dunplop Sport 01 summer tyre. Three months before I had Dunlop 01 All Seasons fitted from them, it looked different from new one which is fitted. Dunlop Sport 01 All seasons have tag A/S printed on the tyre, this one has no such tag on it. Pay price higher than market and don't get the right thing, no sense of customer service or even decent attitude. Will never use again.

MOT and tyre (x2) change were fine until I drove away. Arrived at my destination minus one hub cap. Called and they said it's not there. Drove all the way back and found it 200 yds away from F1 squashed by traffic. A person who claimed to be the branch manager, but didn't know how to use the computer at reception, was rude and aggressive. Told me it's my fault. After explaining they'd stayed on the wheels fine for 130,000 + miles and then after they change a tyre it falls off. Tried to blame my driving so I showed him my Institute of Advanced Motorists card and explained I'm a paramedic and know how to drive. Told him to try pulling one the other wheel covers off, they take a lot of force. He used 2 fingers but his arm jerked when it came free. Tried then be sarcastic that it was easy. Then called me a liar to my face. Repeatedly saying it's not his fault after saying he personally fitted them back on. Downright rude, abusive and verbally aggressive

I'll never go there again. Just like last year for the MOT they claimed my car failed a park brake test, saying it didn't work at all, when clearly it was working as I demonstrated. I had only driven the car 850 miles in the year. It's a 2T car! It isn't meant to just stop when you apply the park brake at 30 MPH. That would be dangerous. Last year I was forced to pay almost £1,000 to big surprise have it pass on the retest - when they did it on the ramp rather than on the road.



This time I was having none of it so I took it to the dealer and they confirmed it as working fine and passed it.



I think it's basically a scam.

I visited the Oxford branch for 2 new tyres. When fitting the fitter damaged my alloy, I pointed this out and was told the manager was not available. The guy serving me took pictures and assured me that the manager would contact me on the Tuesday. Knowing photos could be deleted I asked for my complaint to be written down as evidence I had registered the issue. This clearly angered the fitter who the hurled abuse at me in front of other customers calling me all names under the sun. This is now 1 week ago and still no contact from the manager. I have called and left a message and also sent two emails to the customer care address, advising them I was providing an opportunity for this to be rectified before posting on social media.... no response as yet so here is my review.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. This is a complete SCAM. I went there for a service and MOT, apparently it´s too obvious that I´m not an expert in car matters, so they called me to say that my car had failed the MOT and I had to pay 425 pounds for changing the breaks + I don´t even know how much for the tyres. Thankfully I asked for advice before paying. It really disappoints me to see how businesses try to take advantage of customers. NEVER COMING BACK HERE, FOREVER TELLING EVERYONE HOW HORRIBLE THIS IS.

Despite booking an appointment at a given time and being told to turn up 20 minutes before out appointment time, the tyres were not actually fitted to the vehicle until an hour and a half after our appointment time.

This is nothing against the guys doing the work, they were brilliant and did a fabulous job. However the online booking system needs to take into account the number of staff working on a particular day and only book in the amount of jobs that they can physically do.

Shame as probably won't use them again ;o((
