Successful firing today!

User

We will be firing a newly restored cannon today between 10am and 11am. Don't be alarmed but it will be a bit of a bang!

User

What a great place. We did the tunnels and our tour guide Eddie was brilliant. Really good with the children and got them interacting. Tour took longer than we thought which was well worth the money. Cafe not the best, but a warm coffee at the end was all that was needed.

User

Went to their Dusk 2 Dawn event, which was an overnight 'extreme horror' stay in the tunnels. It was the bollocks! Had an awesome night (no sleep whatsoever!!) - the staff were fantastic, made you feel very welcome and it didn't feel very corporate; like they genuinely enjoyed setting this up and having you there. The experience itself was definitely something to remember, but I don't want to ruin it for those who go in the future. Thanks again to all the staff involved, especially for hanging around in the morning so we could meet you all - you did an amazing job and we will definitely be back in the future for something similar!

User

Took our teenagers to the Teen Halloween event, had no idea what to expect. We were not disappointed! A spot on Halloween experience with loads of thrills and scares. Amazing staff, costumes and setting. Thoroughly recommend for teenager's looking for a scary evening and adults too scared to do the Adult Only event!!! Well done Fort Amherst, we will be booking next year.

User

My 6 year old granson and I did the the Tunnel Tour yesterday. We absolutely loved it. Very informative. His topic for school is Tunnels, turrets and bridges he now has a real insight to the history. We also had lunch in the cafe, which was fine. But waited a long time for sandwiches. Which wasn't too bad as the weather was ok . We played in the little park while we waited. Some staff are volunteers they were all extremely helpful and friendly. Thanks for a great couple of hours.

Kid's Tunnel Tour

Never been to Fort Amherst before. Thought we would give it a try today. Had 8 and 10 year old grandchildren who are difficult to please. Went on a tunnel tour that lasted almost 2 hours and was VERY cool. More importantly the guide kept the children's interest throughout. Would thoroughly recommend this at a very reasonable fee of £13 for a family ticket

User

Halloween horror night- What a brilliant experiences, some very dramatic scenes with very tense moments with the right amount of full contact and scares from the creatures you meet along the way. The use of space and music is brilliant which helps draw you into the expreince , I believe the way that contact is used in this haunt should be leading the way for the more intense style walk around haunts. Also the costume where very strong and detailed. Before we entered the event we herd people that where leaving the event buzzing with excitement and still talking about there experience. 5* guys brilliant night can't Wait to come back for more next year..

User

Had my sons 8th birthday party here and he loved it. Great fun and the guys doing the drills were brilliant with the kids. Party food was great and ten kids went home very happy. Great value for money will be having another party here in the funtuer but a different theme.

User

Had an extremely good tour with Bill today which included the section of the fort not normally open to public access.

The walk through takes you through a WW2 telephone exchange and air raid control centre, napoleonic and WW1 era tunnles aswell as the overground gun batteries and the highest natural point overlooking the medway towns.

The guides were all very informative; making the fort come to life with their in depth knowledge of its history and exciting anecdotes of its previous occupants.

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the walkthrough and would reccomend it to anyone, history enthusiast or not.

Sensible footwear and cold weather clothing recommended!

User

Had a great time at the owl experience at Fort Amherst yesterday. Had an informative tour by a Bill on the way to the owls, Molly was brilliant telling us about the beautiful owls we handled. We stopped for a nice warning drink after. Lovely time & I would totally recommend it.

User

Great tour of the tunnels, informative tour guide, scratching up on some local history. What more could you want? Definitely recommend for a cheap family day out.

I didn't realise that you could picnic in the grounds for free, so we'll definitely be back when the weather improves.

User

Great place to visit for all the family, a good day out. It is a hidden gem of the Medway Towns and well worth a visit.

User

Fantastic staff who were very knowledgeable, very interesting tour which catered for a very inquisitive 4 year old boy ! The gentleman taking us round took the time to answer all his questions , and there were lots of them. Really recommend for all ages. Had a very nice lunch in the cafe too.

User

Excellent. Quiet, peaceful unhurried. Tunnel tour was excellent, and the guide 'knew his stuff'! Well worth a visit.

User

Excellent tour with Steve today. We arrived just as one tour had already started. Steve said if you don’t mind waiting a minute I’ll take you round. The tour lasts one hour but if you get Steve it’s over two, and that’s his short version!! We quite liked that, he knows lots about the fort. Thank you.

User

Cannot recommend this place more!! Went to the Halloween scare night ... genuinely terrifying... well thought out and executed but the biggest credit were the staff.. they proper got into and stayed in character... brilliant time and worth every penny!! Already planning a return visit. Well done fort Amherst!

User

A beautiful location with wonderful views, booked 11am tour and kids enjoyed the play park while we waited for our guide. Neil our tour guide was full of great information with detailed descriptions a man with incredible knowledge and even made it fun for the children of all ages. Daniel provided our family with some extra information on surrounding forts and about the church situated just off site while we enjoyed some beautiful sun at the picnic tables. We then entered the very clean and lovely presented cafe with lovely staff Sue & Cathy who made us feel extremely welcome and served us some delicious food at good prices also the facilities on site are very clean. This is a cheaply priced few hour tour with incredible WW2 items on display that you can actually touch unlike other museums etc. This is a place and tour certainly not to be missed of you are in the area, even if you do just enjoy the views and a lunch in the cafe.

User

Very interesting tour of the tunnels and we will definately be frequenting the grounds again, beautiful views. Cafe looking good with refurb, could do with soya milk as an option and vegan food option too. That would have increased the star rating for me today

Staff great, friendly and food quick to arrive
