Finally got to practice a Mortice lock fitting on a proper wooden door at home this evening.
Freshly fitted deadlock from scratch. Could have been very slightly better at the top of the faceplate but overall it went really well! π
I had a little bit of help from my apprentice! π
... Give me a call if you need any new locks fitted π€π» π¦ π

I rushed to a mate of mine this evening as the key had snapped in his lock.....I was horrified to see the state of the lock that the housing association had fitted!!!! It was a massive security hazard and an easy target for burglars!
His lock is the first picture and I changed it to a 1 star ERA lock that is secure against attack!
Never leave a lock like this on your door!
Wishing all of my customers old and new A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Please do get in touch if you have any lock or door issues that you need sorting! π¦ π
I had to steal this ππ
This is it.....donβt get scared now!
Went to a job yesterday where the back door wouldnβt lock. Tried replacing the handles to offset to work the mechanism but no joy. Took out the whole mechanism to find a broken cog. Replaced the gear box for a brand new one and had to adjust the keeps on the other side so it locked properly. The door was a complete mess!! All sorted and saved the customer money by not replacing the whole mechanism.

One of my jobs this morning was to replace a lock as the keys had been lost.
Replaced with an anti snap, anti pick and anti drill lock with 5 keys.
The original lock wasnβt flush with the faceplate which is a security risk. Itβs now perfectly flush π

Home Security at Christmas:
It is estimated that burglaries rise by 30% in the run up to Christmas. Although, the dark evenings may be a contributing factor, houses full of new and expensive gifts are just too tempting for burglars to resist. Here are some tips and advice on protecting your home this Christmas:
1) KEEP THE LIGHTS ON WHERE POSSIBLE... Thieves will look for signs you are out.
2) SOCIAL MEDIA Increasingly thieves are identifying homes to target through social media, so always be mindful when sharing your festive snaps and make sure your social media settings are set to private.
3) LOCKS AND KEYS Itβs important to review your home security and insurance documents to ensure everything is in working order and adequate before the festive season begins.
Check that all locks on doors and windows are correctly fitted and functioning, replacing any that are broken.
30% of burglars enter a home through an unlocked window or door, so itβs also worth reminding family members to check everything has been locked before leaving the house, or going to sleep at night.
I will gladly carry out a FREE survey of your locks if youβre unsure π
