Sorry to anyone who called at the visitor centre this morning. We had no electricity for tea and coffee making. We all decamped to low grange community centre to make the sunflowers for Mike McGrover’s project. Visit the sunflowers at Trinity Gardens on 11th November when 1,246 sunflowers will be lit and 1,246 voices will be heard in memory of the 1,246 soldiers who died in World War One.

This was our first day in the shop open to serve tea, coffee and cold drinks. We do intend to stock the shop with pocket money toys, dog treats and things like that. We will be open every Wednesday from now on and hope to open additional days once we have enough volunteers. As people visit the shop for a drink we will ask them for suggestions about what they would like buy from the shop

The Friends of Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park management team finally have a lease in place with Stockton Borough Council to use the visitor centre. Our aim is to develop a programme of activities to encourage schools and community groups to use the centre regulrarly. In order to develop activity plans we need to recruit volunteers who may want to help get the centre and the shop open to the public on a regular basis. There is a meeting planned for Wednesday July 4th 2018 at 12 noon in the visitor centre for anyone with an interest in joining the group and wanting to participate in promoting and increasing the use of the centre over the coming months. Please join us at 12noon on the 4th July in the centre at Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park if you think you might have some time to offer to support activities within the centre.
