We've just launched a new scheme with Bluecity to offer a UK airport first! Passengers, staff and local residents can now reserve and pick up a 100% electric car at Gatwick and return it to any of 300 compatible pick-up/drop-off points across London, or back at the airport. The scheme will work in a similar way to existing cycle schemes in London.
It's an affordable, zero emissions travel option - a trip from Central London to the airport will cost around £15 in moderate traffic. Download the Bluecity app to reserve your car: https://gatwk.uk/2JAmHWt

With sustainability in mind, a new larger, cleaner and 50% quieter aircraft fleet has started flying from Gatwick with easyJet's new A321neo. These aircraft are 4 decibels quieter on take-off and 2 decibels quieter on approach, and with an additional 50 seats onboard, they will help us to further increase passenger growth at the airport. One-way ticket to the future, please!

This morning very very early we traveled with our severely Autistic Son, usually this can be so stressful but this morning first time we used the Sunflower Lanyard ststem( for passengers with hidden disabilities) all staff approached us discreetly and guided us through, from the automated boarding pass machines, through security, even the guy in restaurant ( small one opposite Garfunkels( think it was called Barritos?). Was fabulous offering us something that was not even in menu for our Son.

Well done Gatwick.

User

Thank you for your excellent service. I travelled from Inverness to Gatwick and back again with my Dad, who needed a wheelchair for the long walks. All the staff were friendly and courteous. Highly recommended and easy to arrange.

User

I want to give a shout out to all the friendly and cheerful cabin bag security check team. I had to carry some rolled up posters and they very politely explained the process for how it will be checked and released. I also observed how courteous the security team was to everyone else when needing to check the bags with liquids and such. Am impressed when I saw how nice and patient this security officer was to a non-english speaking family trying to explain in English with gestures. It goes to show that security can be done with good intentions and kindness. Well done!

User

Security not that great

Plenty going on restaurants ok Jamie Oliver’s restaurant very good don’t think much of B A anymore it is not made clear that we had to pay for the luggage and to have to weigh it oneself was a shock and the young girl that helped us didn’t know what to do. We was then taken to someone else in check in who was the only one that knew what to do. Very disappointing xx

User

Nice airport but please provide faster passport check points for families! To make the youngest children wait the longest of anybody is just really disappointing.

I also couldn’t find a single water refill station and had to buy bottled water despite having my own reusable bottle. Not exactly up to scratch in that department.

User

Decided to leave this review purely because I was worried about missing my flight (arriving pproximately 1 hr before departure) and had the most painless pass through security in a long time, bolstered by a very friendly young lady behind the desks.

Losing stars for the positively Byzantine procedure of actually getting on the aircraft (one person checks boarding pass, another does the passport ... what?!) but must say the rapid security turnaround left a good im pression

User

Not impressed, I book and pay for the premium security option for a reason, to get through security quickly. This normally takes 5 mins, not today. I appreciate that you are busy but this lane must be reserved only for those who need it. Wasting 45 minutes to get through security lead to no breakfast and not shopping. Sort it out Gatwick.

User

Not announcing gates till 15 min prior to boarding is ridiculously every other airport around the world i have been in is capable of this.

Making people walk through duty free perfume are is stupid I have perfume allergies now I am all stuffed up.

User

What a joke of an airport. I will never fly into this airport again, will be advising others to avoid it at all costs, and will not support any airline that flys into Gatwick. 1000s of people arriving at the same time, you have not enough staff to handle them. Complete disaster.

User

Well done Gatwick YOU schedule the easyjet Inverness flight to depart at 7 and then keep us waiting til 8 before we can take off. This is a RECURRING issue with your shoddy service and timetabling - time to get on to my MP AGAIN. Please don't tell me to keep an eye on screens etc for up to date info Easyjet keeping us fully informed you are the party at fault here AGAIN not Easyjet

Today while I was waiting for the check-in of my flight with Wow Air, the staff at the counter called an English family to jump ahead of me. The family wouldn't because they saw me waiting in the queue the whole time. The staff was unhappy that she has to do my check-in first. After she received me, she asked to see my hand luggage, I didn't hear so I said "sorry what?", she sighed, and said "'Pardon' is the word that you use". When she finished checking everything, I left the counter and she yelled at me "you're welcome!"

When I wanted to make a complaint to other stuff at the airline desk, they told me that it happens with Wow Air very often, and "why would you travel with Wow Air anyway?"

Thomas Cook Airlines were so busy charging me for 2kg overweight hand baggage at the gate that I walked the entire way through the airport: through security, through the flight departure gate and onto a flight without anyone once asking me for or checking my passport. I’m embarrassed for the security of our nation. I could have been anyone without even a passport. This is really bad - and really dangerous. Not sure how airlines like that are allowed to run!

User

Only getting 1 star because I have to!

Currently sitting on the taxi way as we have been for the last 25 mins.

Being told by our captain that in his 30 years of flying that he has never experienced anything like this, as he has been told he can’t get into our allocated stand because the aircraft on it has a take off slot 50 mins away.

There are other stands free but we cannot use them!!!!!

Could someone inform me why???

User

One of the worst airports I have ever seen. It took me two hours in a personal car to reach this crappy airport. Who sets up airport 2 hours from the city center? Are u guys nuts? Whom you expect to service? London or Aberdeen? I think if continued that way in 1 hour I would have reached Abardeen. Crazy stupid founders whoever founded and built this airport. Never using it ever. And Number 1 lounge was terrible. It shudnt be called a lounge event. The cheapest Student cafe was better than this lounge. Avoid this airport at any cost. Missed my flight cuz of them. 2 hours from city center? Builders and operators of this airport shall be Psychopaths.

User

My first time at Gatwick. Edin-gatwick-gatwick- Reykjavik. Plane I had gotten off was delayed and I was told at Edinburgh my baggage would need checked in again at Gatwick. So waits at baggage claim.... No bag. Phoned using their phone. Oh it's being transferred into your next flight and I quote what he said " I doubt you will make it as it's in 10mins" I was like well great thanks bye. Runs to try find where I was supposed to be. Asked information guy he sent me over to a different desk. Then that desk sent me elsewhere. I ended up at security who then actually showed me where to go. I had to go to the OTHER side of the airport to get my flight. Took the shuttle over. Run like mad to security then ran to the gate. I JUST made my flight and luckily it was delayed by 5mins. Not the best airport and experience I've had.. 1 star for you ! Flew 31st May 2018

I had a very unpleasant experience today and thought I would share it as it might happen to other people. I have lost my wallet at gate 13. My wallet was then found and left with the lost and found office. I have suspected that I have lost my wallet at the terminal so I have filled out the standard form to register my request. My wallet was found and I was emailed with a reference number. Upon my return to the UK today I have collected my belonging. I had to pay £10 in order to retrieve my belonging back to my possession which I find very unreasonable. I was abroad with literally no money and they still expected me to pay money to release my own property - this is fundemantally wrong. However that was not all. In a few minutes I have noted that my Hungarian ID card is missing. While at the airport I have phoned the lost and found department who suggested (not confirmed) that they normally hand over the ID documents to the immigration office. I then called the immigration office (still at the airport) to confirm that they have my document. The officer (who by the way wasn’t exactly fluent in English) have told me that they haven’t seen it. So on this note I have made my way home and contacted the Hungarian embassy on the situation and seek for advise. I was informed that I should go to the police to report that my ID is stolen as soon as I can in order to prevent any fraudulent activities. Just in case I have phoned the immigration office again - this time another officer picked up the phone who told me he has my ID in his hands which I can collect today (I’m already home about 2 hours drive away from the airport). Should I not be able to make it today to retrieve it by person it will be sent to the embassy who normally destroys these documents. The whole situation is a reflection on how badly these situations are handled throughout stressful time and given no support or any help from the airport. An ID is a very important personal document and I am absolutely furious how it was handled. Not only they charged me £10 to get my own wallet back without the most important document in it now i am expected to drive 4 hours on my own expense to retrieve it! I understand that handing over foreign ID to the immigration office is the regular process but giving me absolutely no information when I am asking for it and refusing to send it back to me when I have given all the accurate details on my ID is just unacceptable.

I could not recommend GatwickConnects to anybody. I bought my tickets through them because of their "Protected Connection" service.

Norwegian changed their flight and I had to reschedule my easyJet connection - no problem, GatwickConnects will refund it.

I sent in the paperwork on 19 FEB, I sent them my bank info on 01 MAR, and contacted them for refund update on 10 APR, 20 APR (when they informed that the refund was processed), 15 JUN, 4 JUL, and 21 JUL. I still haven't received the refund.

While the Gatwick Connects support team responds in a timely matter, their processing is anything but..

User

Honestly, what an embarrassment of an airport. Is public seating really such an innovation no one has thought of it yet? How about water fountains? Or how about a priority line for senior citizens or families with young children at customs? An area for kids to play? Flat out awful.

User

Gatwick do you really think it's acceptable that the week before all school's have broken up, you have ONE lane open for all families (even if all the children in the party are teenagers) and all wheelchairs?! My parents have just had to queue for security for 45 minutes in the north terminal as they are travelling with two wheelchair bound injured veterans. Maybe your security flow managers need to visit Heathrow to see how it is done there as queue times rarely exceed 5 minutes, even with a lot of buggies & wheelchairs being processed!
