Piper Park Run At Rushmoor Park Run again over Easter and we keep below 24mins finishing 2 seconds slower than last week with 23:40 which was hard in the heat and being dehydrated. Piper loved it though. First week without the rain cover on and she was waving at people and loved the dogs that were also running. She was obviously tired after all that waving. Rushmoor is shut next week so need to figure out where to run. Going to try somewhere new.

Piper Park Run PB Finally broke the 24min barrier 23:38 The Piper was very happy the whole way round. We stuck with the 24min pacer for 2.5km then picked up the pace a little bit. Aim is now to keep under 24min and as close to 23min as possible. After all this extra effort to get below 24min The Piper was obviously exhausted. Congrats to Mike Paddock on his first Park Run.
Piper Park Run Volunteering by pace setting at Rushmoor again. This week at 27mins. I found it easier to run at this pace coming in at 26:58. Even with having to sing nursery rhymes the whole way round to keep The Piper amused. This did cause great hilarity amongst the other runners. Hoping we helped some people meet their targets. The Piper obviously didnโt work as hard this week as she was full of energy when we got home. Motherโs Day this weekend so The Piper will be taking me running hunting for that sub 24mins whilst Mummy has a lay in as the clocks go forward on Sunday.
First BJJ competition at Blue Belt. ๐ฅ I came away with a silver in the super heavy (-100.5kg) division at Kleos Grappling. Won my first fight 12-2, I had a few submission attempts but I was sloppy. But lost the final very quickly to an arm bar. I got the takedown and took advantage but left my arm vulnerable. Unfortunately I hurt my knee in one of my fights so did not enter the absolute competition. Really enjoyed the experience.
Thanks to all my coaches and sparing partners at Andy Roberts BJJ and a big thank you to Connor for travelling up and being mat side and coaching. Looking forward to my next competition.
Piper Park Run This week we volunteered at Rushmoor, due to me competing tomorrow, to run a pace time of 29mins. Slightly off pace at 29:17 but hopefully that didnโt mess anyoneโs race up. Very windy and we were cut up a fair bit. Once again Piper was obviously tired after her run. Back hunting for that Sub 24mins next week with The Piper.
So not only did I run Frimley Lodge Park Run with The Piper. I thought it would be wise to rock out for the Yateley 5s Hockey team. With only 11 players this meant no subs. Playing in midfield meant a lot of running. Just under 7km of running. I think Iโm going to sleep well tonight. Spinning in the morning.
The Piper does Park Run part2. Frimley Lodge Park Run. I was hoping to go sub 24mins this week. But a tight course and having to stop at 1.5km to comfort The Piper meant it didnโt happen. Still very happy with 24:26. The Piper was obviously shattered once again after her run. Back to Rushmoor next week. Hunting out the sub 24min time.
The Pipers first 5k. My aim was sub 25min, I managed 24:17. So sub 24min next week? The Piper seemed to enjoy it. Must have been tiring for her.

Saturday 24/11 I travelled to the University of East London for the English Open BJJ Championship. Competing in the Super Heavy division -100.5kg. Weighed in at 96kg so well under my weight limit.
First fight went well. I was 16 points up and finished the fight with and arm bar from knee on.
Second fight the guy came at me hard and was difficult to deal with but he burnt out after 2 minutes. I was 8-6 up, but after a second takedown he injured his neck and couldnโt carry on....
Third fight I was soundly beaten. One of the toughest white belts Iโve ever faced. I lost 16-6 on points.
Happy with my silver medal ๐ฅ
I also entered the absolute and came up again the Ultra Heavy 127kg silver medalists. He got me on my back and was 8-0 up. I managed to get out and on top with just over a minute to go but went for submissions to finish it rather than points. Even though I lost this was the biggest learning experience and the most fun I had. Itโs not often I get to roll with a dude 30kg heavier than me.
A massive thank you to all my coaches at Andy Roberts BJJ you are making this journey really fun and rewarding.
