About George & Dragon

We serve up delicious dishes full of seasonal flavour and a variety of drinks including local cask ales, and all of your bottled favourites. So come along, make yourself at home, and let the team look after you. We boast a very close neighbour, the River Thames, less than 100 metres from our front door. So it's no wonder much of Marlow's sporting heritage is linked to its world famous rowing club, founded in 1871. It was the pull for one of the world's greatest oarsman, Sir Steve Redgrave.

Yummy as always!

Staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. Food never disappoints. Great position by the picturesque Marlow Bridge.

User

Loved the feel of the pub, food was great and accommodation was small but nice. Great place to start if your having a night in marlow.

I would like to say that the George and Dragon staff were brilliant last night. We booked a table for 11 people...We didn't feel rushed throughout the evening at all. The waitress was really lovely and even arranged for the staff to sing happy birthday to my Mum...The chef had designed a birthday plate for her with candles...It made her night. Thank you.

Always had a good experience at the George, whether it has been for dinner or just a drink. The staff are what really make this place. A friendly and professional team who are always accommodating, in the restaurant and the bar.

User

we stayed here (premier inn) and used the George and Dragon for drinks and a meal in the evening and also a breakfast during our stay. The food was good value and tasty and the service received from staff was very professional, polite and very pleasant.

User

The staff were friendly & the food was very good. Would recommend you give a try for nice hot good food .

User

Lovely pub. We only went in for drinks but nice inside and staff friendly. Comfy armchairs were so nice we did not want to leave!

User

Good meal, reasonably priced. Very nice waitress made sure our dog had a bowl of water before she even started her shift.

User

The place looks lovely since last time we came 3 years ago, beautifully decorated and looks amazing, however the lack of attention to fine detail was obvious, tables not cleared very quickly, nobody appeared to be in charge, and when we came for breakfast we were seated in the conservatory which had obviously not been cleaned from the previous night, food, crayons and cutlery on the floor! There were no plates, dishes or glasses available to use and when we asked if they were short staffed the waiter said no not really just everyone came at once. Get the finer details right and you will be 5* every time. Food was lovely! X

User

Pleasant enough facility, but several mistakes with the food and drink ordered leaves room for improvement. We were a lunch group of five.

The service was lower than average from a man with the personality of a limp lettuce. My sirloin steak was cooked to perfection - except it was fatty, tough and not edible. I was assured that it was sirloin and not rump. Having left 1/2 of the steak untouched and the other half spat out (discretely) back onto my plate we were offered a free coffee as compensation. We were offered dessert "at the chefs expense" but I don't do sweet stuff, so I declined and had an espresso. There was no apology at all when paying and I was very surprised to see that I was charged full price for my meal, but I'm not one to make a fuss. Needless to say, I'll not be going back again in a hurry!

Watch out for the FESTIVE MENU - no allergy information is shown and the vegetable pie contains cashew nuts - not great for someone with a nut allergy as we found out last night. My poor friend was violently ill after eating a mouthful of the pie and it took the staff over 15 minutes to confirm whether it contained nuts. The Manager showed no regret and stated 'Its not my fault, we don't own the website'. A restaurant should take responsibility for the food they serve and ensure meals are clearly marked as 'Contains Nuts' just as they mark their vegetarian food as such. Although they deducted the cost of the main meal, they still charged for her starter and her (uneaten/untouched) pudding. The food overall was of a good standard but the way in which the team handled this potentially serious situation is a major disappointment! Further training to the team regarding whats contained within their menu and possible allergy risks is essential!
