the best and most beautiful racecourse in the world very simple
Well, reading a couple of the past reviews, I feel so disappointed for them!
We went yesterday 26th May and oh what a fabulous day!!
Weather was stunning, the course beautiful (as always) and I have to say the service excellent! It wasn't too busy so that was a bonus for us as I know on busy meetings like 'Glorious Goodwood' it can be bad with queues at the bar etc! We had none of that yesterday, all the staff from the tote, to the bar staff (in the Gordon's enclosure) were all very helpful and friendly!
We could get a table outside anytime we wanted so all I can say it was brilliant all round!
As it was a hot day, we looked at the dress code before we came as my husband wanted to wear shorts but it said no shorts for the Gordon's enclosure so he didn't. Have to say, there were lots of (younger) men in shorts but they were smart so that was good. I think the rule could be smart tailored shorts with a collared shirt/polo for summer meetings.
We had a great day on our 1st trip to the races. Really enjoyed watching the horses in the parade ring before each race. Yes the food was mostly over priced, but we did expect that was going to be the case. Only down side was that we were told the dress code over the phone was no blue jeans and then saw some people wearing them... not a huge deal as it was lovely for us to get dressed up.
Great day out, thank you.
Such a lovely time at Goodwood on Wednesday for the first time. All the staff were brilliant, so clean and a beautiful setting. Even better with a lucky win of 100/1
I have been twice inside Goodwood Race Course and about 10 years sitting on the Goodwood Hill with my family and grandchildren.Really is a fun time. Absolutely beautiful surroundings .
Excellent afternoons racing, as first timers we have nothing to compare it to, but I have been to many motor racing circuits and goodwood is as good as any. Very clean and tidy toilets, very helpful staff.
The sun was out so that helps and we won which is even better. All in all a great time.
Even better now the ticket buying windows seem a lot quicker.
New bar and food area great and I can recommend the hot dogs
Also now drinks are allowed out the front of stands less bad feeling with some people and a sensible change.
Would have been better with a few winners
Great place
Do love Goodwood. Been twice this week, one day brilliant sunshine and second day not so great. I would recommend that they offer more ways of offering warmth for the ladies and indoor seating for the unexpected chilly days.
Also keep improving ways of getting back from the race course. Talking to many friends, they are refraining from coming to the DJ nights this year due to being stuck at the course until early hours in the morning last year.
Brilliant race corse in such a lovely setting on the downs. All staff friendly and helpful i highly recommend to anyone get your self's to goodwood that what I say your missing out
An absolutely amazing day! Really well organised and Steve Aoki was a particular highlight!
We go every year and it's always a good laugh, great atmosphere and good fun. We were lucky with the weather this year which always helps. Some feedback for next year: more seating areas outside and inside (especially where the food bit is). A regular toilet cleaner would be appreciated, as the evening goes on the ladies toilets are disgusting! Staff training, we purchased a beer which was served in a glass bottle, we went to the parade where a goodwood representative said we couldn't have glass, you guys served it to us like that! Prices of your drinks and the quality of them; Yes we expect to pay more, we're horse racing and at goodwood, but I don't expect to pay £30 for a 3/4 full jug of pimms with a couple of bits of cucumber and a bit of orange! Even in witherspoons where a jug is £10 you get strawberries!! finally, please sort out those under age drinkers! It makes goodwood look cheap. I don't know who is buying them drinks cause you need a wrist band, but seeing a kid drinking beer, falling over and being sick is not goodwood. We love coming, I just think for the price there are a few things that could be improved.
The members areas need better quality lifts to help people get from floor to floor easily
The stewards should either walk down the stairs or use them in accordance with everyone else, not hold the lift on 2nd floor until they are ready. Staff should also use service lift, not public lift. Especially as there is no toilet on members floor.
I'm sure That the Earl of Marchs wife was not happy with waiting so long for the lift that she walked down.
Goodwood is always a great day out.. however your bar staff didn't seem to know if you had certain drinks and there were drinks on offer that were not on the boards. The ladies toilets need working on.. some very dirty and smelly cubicles. Please don't ever get rid of the pie and mash vendor. That's the best food you have!
Well, we go every year, at different times so I have got lots of different visits to compare it too. Where to start? Hmm... let's start at the bar shall we, in between races it gets very busy, I know that and expect to have to wait a while, but yesterday absolutely took the mick!!!! I waited over 30 mins, yes over 30 mins, now we have NEVER waited that long in over the 10 years we've been coming to Goodwood races, the staff were slow, and lacked experience as they all looked clueless and there simply wasn't enough of them!!! God help the race goers when it's Glorious week that's all I can say!!!! I missed a race whilst I was in the queue I tried different bars to see if they were any quicker but no!! Absolutely diabolical yesterday I think they must have changed the staff or something this year ??? Apart from nearly dying of thirst the rest was great, we love Goodwood and travel from the Midlands to go, shame about the bar waiting time!! Please sort it before Glorious.
It was a bit hit and miss, was also in owners and trainers, the lady in the restaurant said food normally finishes at 3.30 but put us up a lovely salad that was appreciated. The bar was ok but only did I bottle of beer (tribute I think) but the other half said the Gin was good 😂. It's really hard to please everybody and if I could give one bit of advice it would be to try and get a few more staff with experience who can deal with pressure, help the novices and keep service flowing, it's not just about bodies behind the bar that need to know how to deal with public needs. Also being able to do simple arithmetic would help maybe do a few tests before you employ the staff. still had a good day even though our horse is now on Chichester beach 😂
First days racing back at Goodwood. Sun was shining the atmosphere was great now for the negatives. We had friends in the Gordon enclosures who said the service was absolutely dreadful. Missing races while queuing, nowhere near enough staff, staff that were totally inexperienced. Now for the owners and trainers where we were. Service was better but poor lad that was near enough serving himself should of got a medal it's also lovely that as owners we are presented with free nibbles, sandwiches, cake etc shame it's stuck behind glass with no-one to serve it stood for 15 mins not a single aknowledgement from anyone. It took pity from the security guy who eventually offered to nip round the counter and feed is all cheers mate dirty tables, nowhere nesr enough staff. As owners at courses all over and Goodwood getting really poor reviews for service shame as lovely course. Sort it out soon
We had a brilliant day despite the weather, however we feel it needs to be highlighted that two of our party are disabled and the attitude towards them by the staff was awful and so unhelpful. There were no proper disabled facilities and when we needed to be picked up they would not allow the coach to pick them up from an accessible point. It was only when the police noticed the difficulties they were having that we got some help! Sort it out as it's totally unfair!
our family of 10 booked and came to Goodwood yesterday (Sunday) for the family fun day. Unfortunately the weather was awful! I know that’s not your fault however-
Why are there no chairs provided inside? Especially in the bad weather. We had children and elderly in our group. The elderly can’t stand up for more than an hour or so!
The deck chairs and the band outside could surely be moved inside? Especially as the weather was forecasted?! I love the course and the venue but am so disappointed people travelled from Hertfordshire to come and we couldn’t stay due to lack of seating.
I have been going to Glorious Goodwood for 40 years. We take a group of around 15-20 people each year to the Lennox Enclosure. For the second year running boarding has been erected in the way of the large video screen by the finish so the ordinary racegoers situated further down the track cannot see and enjoy the finish on this screen. Taken with the fact that the sound quality of commentary leaves something to be desired, we never knew the result of one single race as it happened. Compared with other tracks (who appear to value the custom of all the racing public and enhance their viewing experience rather hinder it) Goodwood gives a poor experience in this regard and we will be attending another meeting at a different course next summer where they are more thoughtful.

Compared with other tracks (who appear to value the custom of all the racing public and enhance their viewing experience rather hinder it) Goodwood gives a poor experience in this regard and we will be attending another meeting at a different course next summer where they are more thoughtful.
the best and most beautiful racecourse in the world very simple
