GCC LIFT OUT Weekend 27th & 28th October THIS IS IMPORTANT INFORMATION IF YOU ARE LIFTING OUT YOUR BOAT ON THE 27th -28th OR IF YOU ARE ATTENDING THE LIFT
The list is now up on the board in the tea room if you wish your vessel to be lifted please... Make sure all of the details requested are filled in
LIFT FEES MUST BE PAID BEFORE LIFT, OR SORRY, NO LIFT
Please check all gear needed for lift-out (make sure your stands are not seized and are well greased) make sure all your blocks, stands and wedges are down the yard in a nice tidy pile with your boats name clearly marked on them at least a week before.
This year it is very unlikely that the Club will be able to lend you any stands, cradles or blocks as
These have already been promised or are currently in use.
Please make sure you have sourced these from elsewhere or your vessel will not be lifted.
Only proper stands and cradles will be acceptable, no barrels etc.….
ALL DECKS ARE TO BE CLEAR OF ANYTHING LOOSE AND ALL ANCHORS MUST BE STOWED AND TIED DOWN.
Make sure you have attached very long lines to the bow and stern for guide lines (do not tie two ropes together, Larger boats two lines at the bow and two lines at the stern) Make sure you have TWO belly lines from one side of the boat passed underneath to the other side of the boat for pulling lifting strops around the boat. (Any boat turning up to the pontoon without will be turned away). Please remember it is your responsibility to provide stands, blocks, wedges and cradles for your boats storage, not the clubs!
Remember if you are having your boat lifted you MUST ATTEND both days!
If you are not sure of ANYTHING AT ALL please ask rather than cause an accident or a delay.
SAFETY TALK, COMPULSORY FOR ALL BOAT OWNERS AND HELPERS ATTENDING THE LIFTOUT. THIS WILL BE HELD AT THE BAR AREA BEFORE LIFTING BEGINS!
WATCH OUT FOR DETAILS FOR PARKING, TO FOLLOW SOON!

Ladies and Gentleman.
As regular users of the harbour it worth an early season reminder, that with the arrival Queen Elizabeth Class Carrier, that the General Direction in relation to the use of the Small Boat Channel was updated in last Autumn.
The Portsmouth Harbour entrance and main approach channel is considered a narrow channel in accordance with the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions and Sea (COLREGS) and as such, all mariners are reminded that in acco...rdance with Rule 9(b) “a vessel of less than 20 metres in length or a sailing vessel shall not impede the passage of a vessel that can safely navigate only within a narrow channel or fairway”.
Vessels under 20m are to use the Small Boat Channel which is General Direction 02/17: Portsmouth Harbour Entrance-Approach Channel, Small Boat Channel, Swashway and Inner Swashway, full details of this can be read here:

This image is listed in the General Direction but advises some of the key points of the Small Boat Channel.
Attached is an extract of the General Direction which can be taken afloat. It is also worth mentioning that shipping movements, tidal information etc are published daily via the Queens Harbour Master Webpage: https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/qhm/portsmou th
