Here are three helpful tips for you when you are considering tiling your home :
1) Is the area to be tiled flat? Put a level on the walls and move it around, does it rock? If so then you may need to get them skimmed with plaster so you have a nice flat surface to begin with. The larger the tile is, the flatter the wall needs to be because tiles do not bend & follow the wall. If it is a floor follow the same process and if it is not flat consider buying self leveling compou...nd to give a better base as it can save on adhesive. Most ready mixed & powdered adhesive are calculated on using a 6mm or 8mm tiling trowel.
2) Calculating your tiled areas Walls measure height & width in cm and times then together. (have a pen & paper ready to write down each area) Once each area has been multiplied together add the results together and you will have your sq m. Floors are the same principles but length by width. Always add 10% on for breakages.
3) When setting out to tile Always find the center of the floor or wall and lay some tiles out to see how the cuts would work to the edges of the room or walls. Is there a window? How will the cuts work around that? Is there a focus point in the room? A cooker with a hood above? Or patio doors? Do you need to see a full tile when you look through the door to the room? It is all in the preparation.

This was something a little different to the normal tiling using cut down bricks.
