Visited harvester this evening. Impressed with the new summer menu. Food was lovely and even better puddings!

Our server Sophie was new and what can I say she was amazing. Instantly made us feel welcome and went out her way to make sure we were well looked after. Even with my fussy partner sorry never stand in the way of a man and his food lol

nothing was to much trouble for her an absolute credit to your team lorriane!!

Toliets really need looking after though most of the sinks were blocked and overall cleanliness was not great but who eats in the toilet anyway!

Really enjoyable and well deserved night out dining after having a baby just 3 days ago. All made perfect by the service Sophie gave us.

Thank you Sophie and the rest of team.

Love this place!!! Staff are so friendly and Lorraine is an outstanding manager and person. Herself and her staff always always willing to support us in anyway great job guys!!!

User

I went for dinner here with my family and it was amazing! The ribs were cooked to perfection and the staff were so polite. A big thank you to the waitress Jodie Bishop x

User

Went Sunday lunch time without a booking but we were seated immediately and enjoyed a good lunch with 2 children who enjoy refillable drinks and the salad bar! The food was quick to arrive and good value for money. It's not fine dining but for the price level it is a good family option. Magic was our waiter who was friendly and efficient.

User

My husband and I were taking a casual stroll around Prospect Park and stumbled upon the Harvester here that prompted a spot of lunch.

Good food and customer service despite it being a very busy Saturday afternoon.

User

Friendly helpful staff. Food is what you’d expect for the price

User

Went there yesterday my partner had the gammon steak and opted for pineapple with it .The pineapple was hard and tough and the chips was crunchy and some were over cooked. I had the mixed grill and the chicken on it was too dry for me to eat, the chips were also crunchy and some over cooked. We both ordered the rocky horror sundea which we usually have but this time the fudge brownie was cold not warm and there was not a lot of sauce at the bottom to make the fudge brownie moist. The service was good and fast even tho it was a bit busy.

User

Polite staff. My chicken was undercooked but they replaced it with another one that was cooked properly. Nice place to eat out

User

All the staff were dressed in Halloween costumes which was nice. The food is OK, the quality of the salad bar has dropped off or black olives cocktail onions and cornichons are too sophisticated for Reading. Ribs were good, sweet potato fries were nice and crispy but it took three goes to get a burger right, first time if had sauce which has been asked to be left out, second time the bun was burnt and the third time it came without bacon and cheese, which the waitress brought but not really the same as the cheese was just two slices and not melted. That said it was removed from the bill and they did try to sort it out. I think the problem was they were busy and when the order was taken it wasn't read back to check it was all correct as there were additions and omissions to the basis meals. Still reasonable value it a bit random service from some of the staff

User

Visited yesterday after a few months and had a horrendous experience. The place has really gone down hill. We were shown our table and about 30 seconds later a waitress "K" appeared and rushed for our drinks orders..even though we hadn't even opened the menu or settled in. Then she rudely told us there was no rice or fish. Asked for 2 bottomless drinks and rudely told the machine wasn't working and that she had to pour us normal drinks. Returned for our food order and my husband asked a question about a Wrap he wanted to order and she rudely told him it came with everything as that's why it was written there. She was talking over him and refusing to listen. I read it out to her and emphasised the OR and then she finally understood. The baby wasn't offered a high chair. We had to find our own. We felt rushed. Half way through our meal and feeding the baby and she was already cleaning plates away. The portion size was shocking... I ordered a veggie roulade which was £12 and there was hardly anything on the plate. I didn think we will be returning any time soon which is a shame as this was our local...

User

The food wasn't good at all the evening! The only thing I ate from my meal was the chips. We really looking forward to pudding and yet again that was a let down it was burnt and you could taste it from the first bite. I use to love coming here but it's clear it gone down hill. Will not be coming back in a hurry.

Waitress was nice though!

User

Me and a friend went yesterday, we were told an hour's wait, but we did managed to get a table earlier, due to booked clients unable to get to the restaurant due to an event in prospect park. I had a fillet steak, medium rare, it was served to bloody, they took it back and re cooked it, i suggested to cremate it, but it came back bloody again. I ended up taking it home and cooking it myself. I have been when it has been better run.

User

Don't really know where to start. Booked a table 9. Started with dirty glasses and a fly in the wine. Then bent steak knife ,dry salmon, flies on the salad bar. Only bread rolls we saw were the ones on the floor. Felt like we were sat in an old canteen. Awful wouldn't go back even for a freebie. Take my advice people steer well clear.

User

Ate at the Mansion House yesterday for a friends birthday. Place is in need of a freshen up and maybe clear and clean tables in between customers push chairs back in so people can walk around them. Long wait for someone to come and take orders for drinks and then to take food order. Got there at 3pm food finally arrived at nearly 4.30pm. Glasses and cutlery were dirty maybe new dish washer needed? Went to bar for another drink because no one came to ask if we wanted anymore and the bar staff had gone. No-one seems to check the toilets either. First time I have been there in nearly 2 years and I must say it certainly seems to have gone downhill.

User

no point saying what you think as nothing gets done but defo over priced for what you get!!!

User

We have always been great fans of the harvester. But after a cold starter, over priced shared starters, over cooked main course, the wine we requested wasn’t there. And the final straw was the lack of straws. My children were told to have a milkshake using a spoon. It was a total disaster.

User

So disappointed when we visited the Mansion House Harvester today. After a long tiring day at work and a long drive home, we decided to stop there for a drink and ordered some chips as a treat. They were a disgrace, to put it mildly .... Obviously not fresh (FAR from it), the chips were so hard that you couldn't break some of them with your teeth! The rest were hard, only mildly warm and hollow. Absolutely vile.

Because my other half was so hungry, he went ahead and ate them even though I really wanted to send them back. Very disappointing after a hard day's work :(

User

Really understaffed, we had to change tables as there was a mix up with another family. steaks were overcooked, food in general was very basic and poor. food took way to long to come out as there were only 2 waiters serving the whole restaurant. we were told that they didn't have any halloumi so 2 of us had to change our mains after almost an hour of waiting for it, so all of our food came out at different times. overall a very disappointing time and put a downer on my mum's birthday.

User

I had the unfortunate pleasure of visiting this place one Sunday and was appalled. It was disgusting. Food all over the floor. Food over tables but the tables were being redressed for the next customers. A stray dog in the restaurant being allowed to eat the food on the floor while a waitress hardheartedly attempted to shoo it out of the restaurant before she allowed it to go up to someone’s table. Where I was sat was next to a large windowsill with a mug stain on it (ok it might not have been able to have been removed but cover it with something...a pot plant or ornament) and a screwed up used napkin. This list goes on and on.

I left paying my bill never to return. (This is not my usual Harvester. My Harvester is the Bulldog in Ashford which is clean and the staff are amazing) I filled in the online complaint form and heard nothing back. A couple of weeks later I chased it. I heard nothing. Again...weeks later I chased. I had given up hope when I received a call from someone at the restaurant. They left a message. I did not return the call as my communication to them was via email. All my points were in that email therefore the points should have been address via email back to me. Also, it had been over a month (nearing 2 I believe) that my complaint had not been responded to therefore I felt the restaurant were not taking it seriously.

I had been a manager for over 15...if I had a telephone number and an email address and was unsuccessful on a first attempt via phone...I would have followed it up with an email. I work therefore answering my mobile in the working day to have a conversation is not possible however responding to an email in my own time (considering I am not at fault here) is much better

Clearly the issues I raised were not important enough to have followed through with a response via email so I emailed the CEO. I received a response and was advised I would get a call within 3 days. That was over a week ago. I’m still waiting therefore I wrote back to the CEO asking him if he actually cared. (This was last week) I guess he doesn’t as I am still waiting for an answer.

Absolute outrageous behaviour from everyone involved!
