About Hemingways Of Haslemere

It is difficult to explain exactly what makes this curious coffee and gift shop quite so special. It is a marvellous mix or old and new, classy and comfortable, lively and relaxing with a wonderfully ecclectic range of gifts and homeware that combine

Hemingways Of Haslemere Description

Hemingways is a lovely coffee shop during the day with it's very own warm and welcoming atmosphere. We serve hot and cold food, great coffee, the best hot chocolate, and an impressive range of teas. To add to your enjoyment we are also licensed from 11. 00am every day. . . something for everyone! Hemingways adds to it's uniqueness by selling art, gifts and objets d'art . . . so you can shop and drop all at the same time! Hemingways is sometimes referred to as "Jeckyll & Hyde" because between 5pm and 6pm each day the coffee shop transforms itself into a Wine Bar serving a fabulous range of wines, beers, ciders and spirits, which can be enjoyed with an excellent range of tapas and meze dishes. The sugar bowls disappear, the candles are lit, the lights go down and the music gets that little bit smoother! We also continue to serve the excellent coffees and teas throughout the evening. Whereas Hemingways welcomes young and old alike, and is very much a popular family daytime venue, from 6pm onwards Hemingways operates an" over twenty ones" policy to ensure we oldies have somewhere to chill out and relax in adult surroundings. . . there are precious few left! !

Carl G. Jung introduced some of the striking medicinal properties of art and creativity to the West. The different healing properties of art have been proposed by various disciplines in the fields of traditional medicine, philosophy and psychoanalysis. Doctors have been testing, for instance, how decorative paintings in hospital walls may affect a patientā€™s health, while some philosophers allude to the ā€œconsolation of artā€ as provider of nurture and comfort (unlike entertainm...ent). But one of the most interesting, and perhaps the axis of these theories, is Jungā€™s hypothesis concerning the medicinal properties of the mandala. Jung suggested that paying attention to the symbols of the unconscious accelerated personal growth; a sort of revolution that sprouts form the creation of spherical figures. The mandala, which in Sanskrit means ā€œcentreā€, is one of the most represented archetypes in the history of humankind (think of the Aztec calendar in Mexico or the Chinese Ying-Yang). Its form reflects, in the words of the Swiss, the wholeness of being; a conjecture that makes absolute sense if we conceive our self as a geometrical figure with a centre and circumference. In this sacred figure everything is related to its centreā€”to the mandalaā€”, the figurative origin from which we emerge. And since we all want to accomplish our ā€œmissionā€ in life, or, in other words, be all that we can be, observing the centre of our personality can be an extremely powerful healing technique. Jung proposed that we should not only look at mandalas and follow their lines with our gaze ā€”like someone who is lost in a maze searching for the centreā€”, but we should also create mandalas to learn more about ourselves; to strengthen the process of healing diseases or anxieties. When he started to draw circles, he noticed a correspondence between them and his overall situation: his feelings, impressions and thoughts. Thus, by making and observing them, he realised mandalas were therapeutic. Sometimes, by only thinking of a mandala we feel a slight tranquility, a consolation; as if we were innately and tangibly attracted to these symbols, possible ambassadors of our unconscious. And if there is a point wherein we can submerge ourselves with the purpose of healing, that place could well be, precisely, the medicinal wheel. Whatever...I think this one is beautiful!

Iā€™ve heard that this works! This is good to know: It's ridiculous to have x amount of friends and only 25 are allowed to see my post. I ignored this earlier, but it does work! I hope to see posts from people i haven't seen from in years.
Here's how to bypass the system facebook has in place that limits posts on your newsfeed. Their new algorithm chooses the same few people - about 25 - who will read your posts. Therefore, hold your finger down anywhere on this post and "copy"... will pop up. Click "copy" then go your your page, start a new post and put your finger anywhere in the blank field. "Paste" will pop up and click pastr. This will bypass the sysyem. If you are reading this do us a quick favour and leave me a quick comment .... a "hello", a sticker, anything you want so it appears on my newsfeed. It WORKS!! Love to buck the system! šŸ˜‰

Room for a little one on top! BUNK BED Appeal.....We are (slowly!) nearing completion of the new houses at Desert Fleuri Childrenā€™s Village in Burkina Faso, West Africa. The three houses will be home for 52 orphaned boys and girls, and will make a welcome change to their current very cramped conditions. Although we have the majority of the building costs, we need to send a shipping container later this year with 26 sets of bunk beds to accommodate the children. At this point... we need help! Each bunk bed set, complete with mattresses and bed linen is costing Ā£245 including shipping! So thatā€™s Ā£6500 we need to raise very quickly or the buildings will be useless! (Before you ask it would cost us closer to Ā£10,000 if we bought them in Burkina Faso strangely enough) Please please can you find it in your hearts to donate whatever you can to this incredibly worthy cause. Please donā€™t just click ā€œlikeā€ and move on...Please share the post and donate through our JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/stuart-de ar or even better make a donation direct to our building fund account which is Sort Code 30-93-94 Acct No 32649960, and mark the reference Bunk Beds Appeal. If you do donate either way, please drop an email to stuart@desertfleuri.org so that we can thank you and send you some photos when the beds arrive! For more information, please visit (and like) our dedicated Facebook page Desert Fleuri Childrenā€™s Village.

You're in Haslemere? Look no further! This is the only place you need to go to. Best staff, coffee, food. Love this place. And it's independent! Support your local independents!

User

Went to Hemingways today for a late lunch, great food but more importantly fantastic service. My mum felt unwell whilst there and the staff, especially the owner were so kind and caring and didn't charge for my mums meal. Thanks for looking after us, will definitely go back when next in the area.

User

Went for a coffee today and I'm currently having to be dairy free so I was thrilled at their selection of alternative milks for hot drinks and the range of dairy free cakes šŸ˜„

We come from Southampton and when we visit friends in Haslemere a visit to Hemmingways for lunch is a must. The food is fab and the staff are great the only shame is that i am always too full for the delicious cakes!

User

We always receive a warm welcome, the staff are friendly & helpful and the food and drinks are delish! My daughter is always looked after too! A So glad we only live down the road and can pop in regularly

User

Very tasty coronation chicken pannini and prawn salad. First time here but very pleasantly surprised with the service and wonderful atmosphere

User

The staff are always attentive, friendly and make you feel welcome. Food is great and they never make you feel rushed once you've finished a drink or food!! Hence the reason I'm always here ļæ½ļæ½

User

Service quick and friendly from staff who seem to care. One of my favorite places to eat and one day i will come down to try there cocktails in the evening. Thank you!

User

Hemmingways played host to a social evening I had to organise. The venue was perfect, the staff

attentive, the finger buffet exceptionally well priced, it looked and tasted amazing. Thank You Stuart and Nikki for accommodating us, we had a wonderfully relaxed night and look forward to doing it again in the not too distant future

User

Hemingways is the best place ever to chill out, they did the most wonderful birthday party for me, and nothing was too much trouble. Paul and Stuart are innovative, creative and above all kind.. May success continue...

First ever visit......so impressed. Most amazing menu I have ever seen, anything and everything you could ever want!! I cant rave about it enough, wanted to have all of it!! Great atmosphere and staff. Really cant wait to go back, the pancakes bacon and maple syrup were heavenly! Does get very busy so we were lucky to get a table. Already planning my next visit.....love it ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

User

Best panini and flat white I've had in ages - thanks!!! Ignore the overall review rating, seems all the negatives are from a group of friends of some rejected entertainer around the 9th of March 2014.

User

As locals we spend a lot of time in here... always our favourite of the coffee places in Haslemere. The smoothies and shakes a hit with our son, and the coffee is always excellent. Hemingways - Never change!

User

Always welcoming and friendly, service with a smile. Food is always good and plenty of choice to cater for all.

Having looked back, many of the reviews on here are dated and relate to what appears to a single event from over two years ago, when under previous management.

A MUST TRY!

User

Good coffee but a bit busy! Best seats outside when the weather is favourable...

User

Good coffee and food with a good selection on the menu. Plenty of space, you certainly don't feel crowded. Children welcome and there's a good menu for them. On the down side the prices are 'Haslemere' prices....hence only 4 stars!

User

1st visit, service very good, food was great, will definatley visit again.

User

The food and drinks were excellent, but the table service could have been better. Very polite and courteous but took time to serve us and difficult to attract their attention at times.
