The past few months have shown serious medicine shortages in the UK market, unbelievable heightened drug prices not being reimbursed correctly, numerous daily phone calls and faxing prescriptions (anonymised) to source limited stock, surgeries having to prescribe alternatives plus the recent dramatic government funding cuts in the pharmacy sector. The independent pharmacy is now under more pressure than ever before. In addition, a pharmacy contractor should not personally cov...er the cost of the patient’s NHS medicines. This is however now becoming a regular and almost daily occurrence
We fully comply with our regulators and the health system both at local and national level and work extremely hard to look after all our patients and the community, fulfilling our patient/public duties and obligations plus still providing numerous services free of charge to patients of which the pharmacy covers all costs involved. However and through no fault of our own, we are now fiercely and constantly faced with severe pressures and challenges which go against the basic principles and purpose of a community pharmacy
With the common placement of ‚Äėin-store‚Äô pharmacies that became a trend just over 12 years ago and more recently online ‚Äėpharmacies‚Äô who seem to target patients by posting out official looking letters claiming they work in partnership with your surgery, can I once again take this opportunity to SINCERELY AND GENUINELY THANK EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU who STILL CONTINUE to use, value and support YOUR Local Pharmacy (and other small businesses) in the INDEPENDENT sector
Hempstead Pharmacy WILL CONTINUE to do its utmost best to look after our patients and our community. Without your valued support, and I really do regret to say this, your local pharmacy in Hempstead is unfortunately now at serious risk

Extremely saddened and most disappointed to find our colourful hanging baskets, heavy potted plants and beautiful flowers all stolen early hours of Friday morning. These were all painstakingly maintained every day throughout the summer (and still going strong) by our local volunteer Keith Jordan
Though fully present within the pharmacy, CCTV camera is now being positioned to fully monitor forecourt activity as well
Our flowers added overwhelming colour and wonderful character... to the area and we received nothing but endless compliments since they were first there earlier on this year. They literally brightened up everyone’s day when walking into the pharmacy or simply passing by
Absolutely shameful that a person/people decided to take what is not theirs! The pharmacy is for the patients and our community. Why do such a thing!
