We had a 60th birthday celebration on fathers day June 2018 and can not praise the Hilton enough, Thank you so so much for making my mum's surprise meal so special the staff serving us where very attentive, and could not do enough for us, the food absolutely delicious, and the day was perfect and went without a glitch, and mum was absolutely shocked which we hoped would be the case. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and said what a wonderful time they had, had.

A special thanks to Tina Slater for keeping in contact via email and making all the arrangements and Mark Davis and team on the day

My girlfriend booked us a surprise night away for my birthday and a date night. We arrived to a smart, friendly and welcoming reception, booking in was seamless and then headed up to our room while taking in the hotels stunning marble staircase and the wide corridors. We opened the door to our room and instantly loved it. Spacious and comfy with a beautiful balcony and uninterrupted views of the sea. The bed was very comfy and being 6ft5 I could stretch out and not dangle of the edge haha. We woke in the morning to a glorious sun rise, standing on our balcony we watched it and then I proposed. It was breath taking and magical for us. Certainly heading back and asking for room 206 again...

Having stayed here previously on a work visit, when we decided to visit I chose the Hilton Metropole for its location and parking. When we arrived on this visit (late evening following a long car journey), we found the staff incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming (night staff had just come on shift I believe). Due to availability we were given an upgraded room and given recommendations for places to visit during our stay. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast is served at the front of the building which looks out directly on to the seafront- making for a great view.

User

Great staff and fantastic service 10/10.

My daughter and I had two treatments in the Schmoo spa followed by a superb afternoon tea. I couldn't fault it! Thank you to all those that made our day such a wonderful experience.

User

This was a last minute booking due to mix up with dates and having to cancel another hotel we were booked into. We arrived two hours early expecting to have to wait for our rooms, we checked in and informed our rooms were ready for us, due to this being a late booking there was only two standard double rooms available, we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms, I would have preferred a sea view room although very happy we could get booked at such short notice. We stayed for two nights and really enjoyed our stay, the breakfast each morning had a variety of choices from fresh fruit to full cooked breakfast which set us up for the day. My daughter and myself enjoyed a relaxing afternoon in the steam room, sauna and swimming pool, other treatments available at a cost, if we had have been staying a little longer we would have treated ourselves to a treatment. This hotel is situated on the front and is close to the beach, pier, and other attractions. Brighton has plenty of shops and restaurants are all within a short walking distance of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel and would pick this as my first choice next time with a sea view room.

User

Had a fantastic stay. Room was more than expected with a sea view. Staff very attentive. Only drawback was breakfast was very busy and had to queue at egg station and no bread, however, the rest of the breakfast was great. Will definitely return.

User

First visit to Brighton. Attended a gala event that had been held at the hotel. Rooms clean, tidy, and tastefully decorated. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel’s character is beautifully kept. Only downside was the bedroom’s Air con, it wasn’t the best. Was still stuffy regardless whether it was switched on or not, was grateful there was a breeze to blow through the windows. Other than that lovely hotel, would highly recommend :)

And breakfast.......yummy!

User

Came to Hilton as a birthday treat from my girlfriend , we arrived a tad early but parking in the car park until we checked in was not a problem ! When we came back to check in the staff were lovely, really helpful and I was very impressed. The hotel looked lovely , the staircase was unreal ! We was on the first floor and I have to admit the room definitely was not a 5 star room. No view , the bathroom looked like a rough alleyway and was actually surprisingly dirty. There was what looked like blood stains all over the mattress and dirty brown patches , never mind the mattress being that uncomfortable that we had to get two mattress toppers! Was really really appalled by the state of the room , dust absolutely everywhere! The swimming pool was great and breakfast was great. So was a good experience apart from one of the biggest parts , the room.

User

Amazing building, gorgeous breakfast, friendly staff. Just in front of the sea. We had a good stay. Comfortable room but very hot!! Swimming pool, sauna and hydromassage included in the room rate! Breakfast was gorgeous and plenty of food choice. I recommend it. We slept so good. High quality mattress. We request a bath and we had it.

User

Stayed here just for 1 night in the King Double room.

1st have to say that all the staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for me.

We got an early book in which was good. We used the hotels car park that was easy and cost £25 for the 24 hours, a little on the high side but what can you do these days.

The thing you notice all around though is that the whole hotel needs a urgent make over.

The room was large and so was the bed.

Zircon was not very goo at all, failed to work properly everytime we came back to the room.

Shower over the bath was just ok and needs updating.

Overall just ok, nothing great nothing to bad but not up to 2018 Hilton Standards.

Plus points

- magnificent building

- well located

- has a gym

- friendly staff despite incompetent management

- one of few hotels in Brighton with a pool

- good buffet breakfast

Minus points

- aircon in room noisy and ineffective

- bar restaurant appallingly managed considering they have huge number of staff why does it take 20 mins to get served? The staff very friendly and nice, they just need to sack the management and employ competent managers

- common areas not cleaned often (we noticed a sugar packet on the floor outside a room on Friday and it wasn't moved until Tuesday)

- shower hose too short

- tables in breakfast room sticky/tacky presume never cleaned only wiped

- issues raised to front desk not acted on, just a smile and "we'll look into it", it was obvious they would do nothing.

Hotel has great potential, but the management let it down.

User

Had a nightmare of a check-in. Gave us an upgrade, from a double to a ......family room. ? Why ? when there was only 2 of us is beyond me. ! Thot we where getting something special, but no, a room at the back, with the extractor fan going ALL the time, tiny moths flying about in the room, coming in under the room door. ? No bath, just a shower, hate showers. ! If the hotel he'd been on the channel 4 ' four in a bed' it certainly wouldn't have won. Dust under & behind the beds. ? I always rave about Hilton Hotels, but not any more, 6 rooms our family booked to stay for a family wedding, and everyone was disappointed, I certainly won't ever be booking any Hilton Hotel Again.

User

Very disappointing for the price! Room tired and noisy not what u'd expect from a 4* hotel! Shabby room, plugs not working,no Aircon in room as it was very hot and couldn't open window, stains on the carpet and creaking bed to name just a few!

Also they Didn't bother to email me back about parking. Breakfast was the only plus, hence 2*!

User

The room resembled a 90s Travelodge ..the bathroom door gives a loud crack noise when you open and close it , the bed creaks with every movement , the air conditioning sounded like it had a motorbike stuck in it, we had to wait 15 minutes to get served in the dining area whilst 4 staff just stood around chatting .. At breakfast we were shown to our table and when we went to get food some woman had taken out table with our things on it .. Some delightful children were spitting over the stairs onto the computers below. . and some idiotic woman was offended by some books that had an aryan good fortune symbol on them which she claims was a Nazi symbol .. If she actually had an education she would of known the symbol had been around for thousands of years before the Nazis used it .. The building itself was actually lovely

User

One of the grand old ladies of Brighton beachfront hotels, quite resplendent on the outside but sadly lacking when it comes to room space on the inside. Front of house staff extremely helpful and pleasant, and breakfast, despite some queuing, was fresh and an absolute delight.

When it came to the room, in our case a delux seaview; tired, dated and overdue some TLC comes to mind. From cracked sink, to chipped enamel bath, and a bed that squeaked for England, this is not the quality Hilton brand loved the world over. WiFi is non existent in room (It’s the thick walls sir, sorry...) Given the price paid for a two night stay, and £50 to park, l won’t be returning anytime soon.

User

Booked a suite for Mother’s Day weekend, thought it would be a nice treat. Greeted at reception by a guests dog pooing on the middle of the foyer! Wow! There was no power in the dining lounge room , so had to call maintenance. No thought was given to how the suite looked the dining table pushed to the side, furniture lined against one wall and very dusty. Paint was peeling fr9m the windows, in fact the entire suite was tired and in need of refurb. There were no pictures on the walls making the place dated and characterless. My sinuses were streaming from the dusty furniture the entire stay. The mattress was bowed up in the middle causing a very uncomfortable night. All in all a poor and expensive experience that we won’t do again.

User

what a let down we went for a spa day 4 adults and it was a mess from the start. so we pre booked shamoo with lunch or afternoon tea £70 each so that was ok we go for lunch at this point they tell us that we have to pay £15 supplement each to eat it’s not included in what we had already paid for so an extra £60 so we sit down then they don’t have any printed menus the waitress scribbles it down on paper after asking her multiple times what they have then we wait and wait 25 minutes for a drink and nearly an hour for lunch which was a salad which was appalling my iceberg lettuce was pretty much just the stalks and brown so i left 3/4 of it pudding was nice we ask for the bill as the service was non existent the food was rubbish we get the bill £115!!!!! £55 for 2 glasses of Prosecco 1 small coke and 125ml rose. i could not believe it not at one point did they say a drink was not included as we didn’t have a menu we couldn’t see prices. so far our day has cost us £395 for not a lot we go down to use the swimming pool to be told we have to pay £5 each to use it at this point extremely disheartened we pay and go in, it was awful small, old smelly overcrowded i could touch the locker and the wall with my arms stretched it was that small. we were in there for around 10 minuets then left the steam room only fitted 2 people in so we went into schmoo for our treatments that was amazing ladies lovely so helpful and kind, once we were finished we paid the extortionate amount for the car park (we took 2 cars so had to pay double) and left and continued our time in brighton somewhere else. so in total our day out cost us £445 just in the hilton which money is no object if you get what you pay for but all we had was moody unhelpful staff 60 year’s outdated surroundings and extremely under equipped spa facilities never again.

User

Just stayed here for the weekend to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary. The room awarded to us was small and dated.

There was piles of pigeon poop on the window ledge rendering the opening of windows unhealthily and to make it worse there is no comfort cooling.

There is a fault on the electrical ring main so unable to make a morning drink. (Reported to hotel nothing been done)

The cold water runs hot so there is a serious risk of legionella under L8 guidelines, again reported to hotel but nothing done!

In summary I have actually stayed in better Premier Inns and would expect more from a name such as Hilton.

User

I am currently having the worst night I have ever had in a hotel.

Myself, my husband and my 7 year old daughter are on the 2nd floor, 2 floors up directly above a wedding reception and the bass from the music has been pounding and vibrating into the room since we tried getting to sleep 3 hours ago!

There is no way do I want to try and change rooms with my daughter doing her best to sleep, but every 3rd or 4th song when the bass is continuous, she keeps stirring.

How they could put customers in the rooms above their function rooms is beyond me, especially with a 7 year old, I have no idea how the people on the first floor will be coping.

I am desperately hoping it finishes at 1pm, otherwise I may end up rocking back and forth in the corner, I am so tired.

I hope they consider some sort of compensation when I speak to them tomorrow, as I came here to relax away from home during the Christmas holidays.
