We booked online, a little confusion as no confirmation email was received, lucky we had saved the confirmation page. There was about a 30 minute wait when we arrived and I wondered why we had to wait so long with people who were paying on the day as we had to all queue together. The only fast moving queue were for the groups.

HMS Victory itself was so interesting and eye opening. You could appreciate the atmosphere of what it might have been like to live in the cramped conditions. Be aware of the very low ceilings, at 5'8" even I had to stoop a little. But I never realised that there were so many decks to go through.

It was really worthwhile talking to the attendants throughout the ship especially on the lower deck where the attendant explained that this was where Lord Nelson was taken after being wounded and where he eventually died. It was a very humbling experience and an atmosphere of respect.

This was a spur of the moment decision, for easter weekend. Spent all 3 days here. Driving down from our hotel in Southampton. Was wet most of the weekend but didn't make this experience any less awesome. Got the all pass thing and if you had trouble booking online. Then the nice people will still give you a discount. So our ticket was a brilliant £28 each. Saw the awesome Mary Rose, cannot believe its over 400 years old! Then the brilliant HMS Victory, I was really tired after that. We also had a boat tour around the harbor and saw the new aircraft carrier, which is under construction. On the final day, we went to the submarine museum. Thought I would get claustrophobia. However I was fine and the guides in the submarine, were not only friendly, but very knowledgeable. One even served on the actual submarine! My advice is to give yourself full days there. Get there as early as possible. We will be going back in the future, to see bits we missed.

The Historic Shipyard in Portsmouth is a marvellous place to visit, and especially to be able to walk around the magnificent HMS Victory and learn about Nelson and the Battle of Trafalgar. The ship is immaculate and there are museums, boat trips and other experiences within the shipyard complex so enjoy and make a whole day out.

Loved the audio tour, meant people didn't all crowd one sign and that you could wander around more. It brought the story to life and made it more interesting

Only criticism would be the large queues to get in, as already paid for entry at Spinnaker tower so would've thought I wouldn't have to queue again. Other than that, lovely day out

Living history and a national treasure. Fascinating exhibit of a great age.

User

I've been looking forward to visiting this historic national treasure for many years! My partner has served as a Victory Guide for many years.... not only did I get the VIP tour, but he also proposed to me at the helm of the ship! I look forward to fair winds and following seas with the love of my life Anthony for many years! The other Victory Guides were all very warm and accommodating! Also a special thanks to Gary the OOD, and the hospitality of Her Majesty's Navy whilst onboard! I can't wait to return one day!

User

I have visited Victory several times and there are many things to marvel at particularily the ingenouity of and the craftmanship that has gone into the building of this Ship and it's beauty. It is well worth a visit for an hour or more if you're in Portsmouth.

User

Great day out would highly recommend it, we have been back twice and still not got round all of it. Buy the all in ticket and come back as many times you like within the year. Great value for many.

User

Great day out although the weather could have been better. Great fun for all the family. The first "BIG BOAT" our two year old has been on. She loved it! No waiting in line straight on.... with a number of bumps to the head! Low beams! You have been warned!

User

Fantastic ship and very interesting. It's about 18 months since I went there but want to go back again.

My only disgust was to see a bloody buddleia bush growing out of her port stern!!! Seriously this ship is a national treasure and deserves to be 110% maintained... let's hope its been dealt with by the time I return!!

Loved the little monitor gunboat and Mary Rose too. Great place to visit:-)

User

Fantastic day out. We purchased the 11 attraction tickets and did 5 in 1 day! The year tickets gives us the opportunity to return any time!

HMS Victory is such a historic part of the English Navy and with the audio guide we were able to listen as we moved around the ship. My 10 year old found it amazing and found his love of knot tying at the Royal Navy Museum

Family day out to the Historic Dockyard yesterday. Well worth a visit and excellent value for money. We will need to make a return trip though because by the time we had stood in the very lengthy queue and got through to the attraction, we only had time to see the big ships, so missed a lot of the other things on show. Note to future visitors - get there for opening time! (Also booking online gets you a few quid off, but doesn't mean you have a shorter queue!!)

User

Excellent day out, great staff very friendly. Audio system took a little working out, but the victory was incredible. ✌

User

Bought an all attractions ticket this week. What absolute superb value for money. So far been to the submarine museum which was fantastic. HMS victory was as always awesome. Mary Rose is stunning. What a brilliant exhibit. Wonderfully put together. Brilliant imagination. A really immersive experience it's a must place to go. The all attractions ticket is just about the best value for money you can get. So proud all this is on my doorstep.

An excellent formal evening with the Rum Club's first foray into tasting and dinner on board Victory. Well organised and managed, and, helped by the kind weather, we enjoyed all aspects of the evening. Two minor quibbles; firstly we couldn't buy any of the rums on the evening and secondly the beef seemed to be 'pressed' and very well done, when a steak may have been better. But these are minor, and did not detract from what was a superb and unforgettable experience.

User

Absolutely amazing! Loved it! Had a fascination with Nelson, Trafalgar and Victory since making an Airfix model as a small boy. Finally get to see and explore the real thing at the age 52. To walk through an intact piece of history like this, is simply incredible. The spot where Nelson fell on deck and his quarters and the spot where he died 3 hours later below. I should never have waited this long and will definitely be back!

User

A very informative audio tour explaining about the lead up to and the battle of Trafalgar. We also met Mike Waddleton a fantastic tour guide who shared with us some of his knowledge about the Victory, along with some of the terminology that has become part of our everyday language. Thank you Mike for adding so much to our tour. What out if you hold the 32lb canon ball!

A lovely evening spent on HMS Victory last night to celebrate my Uncles 70th Birthday. Something very different to experience. 🎁🎈🥂

User

Very well kept and lots to see about the ship. The audio guide is brill, don't like the one way system you have to go on throughout the ship as some of it is very tight for us tall people.

Staff very friendly and helpful
