About Hotel Continental

An idyllic seaside hotel in the picturesque town of Whitstable. Stunning sunsets too, a glass of wine and a steaming bowl of mussels, watching the sun set.

Hotel Continental Description

Welcome to the Hotel Continental.

Located on the seafront in the idyllic town of Whitstable in Kent, we are a 23 bedroom sea front hotel with 13 converted 150 year old Fisherman's Huts. All of which are available for short term lets. We pride ourselves on providing an extremely unique and personal stay for all our guests and aim to give them the best chance to explore the wonderful charm and character that Whitstable has to offer.

We are owned by the Whitstable Oyster Co. Our bar serves Beers and Ales produced by our own micro-brewery, the Whitstable Brewery, as well as oysters from our own oyster beds.

We also have a 40-seat restaurant serving a classic menu, with a modern twist. Our menu changes regularly and ranges from Pan Fried local Oysters to Roasted Seabass on a Seafood Risotto to Aberdeen Angus Fillet Steak served with triple cooked chips.

We were served by Georgia, who was a joy! Very smiley and nothing was too much trouble. The fish & chips was huge! Melt in your mouth, could’ve probably shared mine with my daughter! We did ask for hers to be lightly battered but all 4 came up the same, but another waitress fetched them and brought them over, so didn’t like to query it. Too full for pudding, but we had oil/balsamic and bread, and a salmon taramasalata to start with bread and butter to dip. What’s not to like. May stay over one night, as seems lovely place.

We stayed here with family on the 22nd and 23rd of December for our wedding at The East Quay. We had a family room which was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, very accommodating with our 2year old son which was lovely. The food was very tasty and there was a good variety. Our stay here was special and made our couple of days celebrating even better! We look forward to coming back again to celebrate our anniversary if we can! Thank you to all the team at The Continental Hotel.

User

We have just had a coffee or two on regular occasions, dinner there and have stayed there. Can’t fault it and the staff were very helpful with the celebrations of my partners birthday.

User

We both love this hotel. Staff are friendly & location is fabulous!

User

The hotel exceeded ou expectations. The hotel looks fresh and redecorated our room if a tad compact, was very clean and had a comfortable bed. We enjoyed great food for breakfast and the evening meals. lovely staff and a great location. What’s not to like?

We will return again

User

Superb stay in room 2 great breakfast. Clean

Friendly staff would visit again if I could get the balcony sea view

User

Stayed one night in an upgraded room with a sea view. Very small but well designed room with a good sized en-suite. The binoculars were a nice touch but wardrobe was a little awkward to access. Our lunch and breakfast was very tasty. All staff and particularly the receptionists were a delight; friendly and helpful. Hope to return.

User

Stayed here whilst at a friends wedding. Staff were very friendly. Lovely sea view room with balcony. Definitely recommend 👍

User

Stayed Sunday night was lovely but I just wanted to say breakfast was the best I have had while away better than some 5 star hotels and the good choice of fresh fruit and gluten frees was the best I have seen

User

Had a fantastic time . The hotel is set just across from the beach. We were in room 1 which had just been refurbished to a high standard. Staff were very friendly. The breakfast looked amazing. But unfortunately I started getting the flu so couldn’t eat it. But I will be back to try it would recommend to anyone

User

Great position & decor, comfortable rooms and nice staff. And the breakfast was as good as I’ve had anywhere in the world! Highly recommended!

User

Beautiful hotel. We stayed in room 16. Amazing sea view with shower. Room beautifully decorated. Fantastic breakfast. Buffet style with options for kippers, duck eggs and poached and scrambled eggs. Wonderful location. Would highly recommend for a weekend away.

User

As local only eat here. Despite problems with equipment we had a lovely quick meal served by the young guys at the bar. It's an independent hotel and bar unlike others in the area tied to a well know brewery. Staff are always upbeat and professional food is good too.

User

Amazing little gem of a hotel. Upgraded to a sea view. Breakfast was lovely. Highly recommend.

User

A lovely hotel , we stayed on new years eve , had a really nice meal in the town and then went and chilled in the hotel bar to see the new year in, staff were magnificent, definitely will be staying here again , well done to anyone connected to this place

User

We stayed one night in a very small room as it was all they had left but it was well planned and equipped for such a small space. Comfortable bed, clean and good bathroom. Only faults were that there was only one water glass for two people and the shower hose leaked. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and good breakfast. Thank you.

User

We stayed here for one night on Saturday, the staff are very friendly our room was very compact but really nice . The only draw back was having no lift , we were on the top floor so 3 flights of stairs with arthritic knees was a challenge I'd rather not have had, The hotel was was fully booked so couldn't be moved . Breakfast was really good, poached eggs cooked to perfection and bacon nice and crispy . We would definitely stay here again .

User

We love this place. The staff are always friendly; the food is good with plenty of choice; child friendly; location great with views of the sea; you can sit in a lounge style area, in a more formal area or outside; you can watch the chefs cooking; tables are similar to old farmhouse tables; good clean toilets; all in all a nice place to be especially on a sunny day :-)
