🦋All of those in attendance at a funeral I led today, were asked to wear butterflies🦋in honour of a man who had been an active and dedicated member of Sussex Butterfly Conservation and who did a great deal for wildlife 🐝🦗preservation.🐛🐞A huge number of his loved ones, friends and colleagues came along, to pay their respects, wearing a wonderful array of butterfly clothing, jewellery, ties, scarves and other accessories.🦋His family were so pleased, and they were sure he would’ve been very touched that everyone had made such an effort to surround him with his beloved butterflies, as his farewell took place.🦋#humanistcelebrant #sussexcelebrant #humanistfuneral #celebrationoflife #butterflyfuneral

💝💛So touched to be presented with these roses and lilies💛💝by the family of a man whose farewell ceremony I led today. 💗💗Yesterday, I was asked to read the well-known ‘Smiling’ poem at the funeral of a man whose smile was incredible and whose wonderful humour and sense fun was legendary amongst his family and friends. Fittingly then, there were smiles and laughter through the tears, as a huge group gathered to pay their respects and say their farewells. ❤️💛💚I had the sad task this morning of leading a farewell ceremony for a woman who died far too young - suddenly and unexpectedly.💚💛❤️She was a huge Bob Marley fan and a lover of all things reggae. Her coffin was decorated with red, yellow and green ribbons (all in attendance also wore those colours) and we played some of her favourite reggae songs. She was an adored mum, a cherished daughter, sister, partner and so many other things to a huge number of people. 💚💛❤️Learning about her life and speaking about her was a true honour - it seems that despite her life being far too short, she shared Bob Marley’s perspective; she well and truly lived the life she loved. ❤️💛💚#humanistfuneral #humanistceremony #humanistfarewell #celebrationoflife #sussexcelebrant #celebrantlife #celebratelife

Saying farewell recently, to a much loved lady who lived to be 99 years of age. Her ceremony was attended by family members and friends not only here in West Sussex but also overseas; the service was webcast so that family in Australia could be present.
