Jamie'S Italian Oxford Description

Our very first Jamie’s Italian opened back in 2008 and is still going strong. Located on George Street, now the heart of city's dining scene, this bustling Oxford restaurant is the perfect place to tuck into some authentic Italian dishes whilst enjoying the buzzing atmosphere. Whether you’re looking for a casual dinner or a big celebration, Jamie's Italian Oxford has something for everyone.

Oxford pizzeria

Situated downstairs at Jamie’s Italian Oxford on Gloucester Street, we have our very own pizzeria, serving up beautiful oven-baked pizza with big flavours and fresh ingredients. The space matches our vision for a little standalone pizzeria with its own front door, menu and identity. The Pizzeria is a shining example of what we at Jamie’s Italian stand for – simple, honest, tasty food created using superbly sourced produce and all at a great price.

We had a family lunch before heading off to the Oxford Play House to see the Panto. The food was delicious, I even stepped out of my comfort zone and had one of the ‘Specials’ which was recommended by our waitress, really glad I did as I ate things I thought I did not like. We had two young children with us and nothing was too much effort, the staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. Though it was really busy, we did not have wait to long to be served. The kids were occupied by a colouring goody bag, so were more then happy.

Lovely meal, quick service and very friendly staff. Our waiter was enthusiastic and checked on us regularly. I had booked the table for my mums birthday and the staff were great by surprising her with desert at the end of the meal. The asparagus carbonara was lovely and the lamb was tender and juicy - it could have maybe done with some potatoes as the portion was a little small for the price but excellent food.

It is always a treat going to Jamie's in Oxford (elsewhere would no doubt be the same). The staff are always ultra friendly without being too 'in your face'. The food is scrumptious and if you are a member of his Gold Club you get extra treats. Yesterday we had the pleasure of going and my husband and I got a free glass of prosecco each and then a small mince pie each (free of charge). The waitress explained meticulously the 'dishes of the day' and I chose the salmon dish and my husband chose the other fish dish. I don't like chillies so I wa stold they would make sure none were added. I absolutely love going there so if you have any doubts give it a 'go'.

Had an amazing night and glad we booked! The food was amazing and of course me and my boyfriend had room for pudding. Really fresh and flavourful dishes and the blueberry cake with poached pears was to die for! We'd popped in at lunch to book a table and I'm glad we did as there was quite a que but totally worth it. Our waitress Alessandra was brilliant and even though it was really busy she made the time for us which really made our experience more enjoyable. We would definitely come back again.

Had an amazing meal last night with my daughter. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, fantastic service and awesome food

User

Had a wonderful dinner last night, we both chose different specials, my Salmon was the best I have had anywhere & the red pepper sauce was amazing. My husband had the sausages with Balsamic onion gravy & could of licked the plate 😀 Our waiter sorry didn't catch your name (you are Spanish) was so helpful, polite & courteous a credit to Jamie's Italian Oxford

First time at the Oxford restaurant and by far the best experience of all those that I’d been to. The staff were really friendly, chatty and quick in there service. I had two gift cards but didn’t realise one had expired. Was happy to just use the one and pay the balance, but the nice chap who did the payment still took a meal off the bill. We weren’t expecting that! Top marks for customer service. Oh and the food was great too! I’d definitely go back.

Absolutely amazing food. I had one of Jamie's new pasta dishes. Tasted fantastic best I've ever eaten. Prices were good, staff were great, services was spot on. 5 star definitely and I'm going again.

User

Very enjoyable meal. The waiter was great and was genuinely enthusiastic about his job and the food on offer. We loved it. We had got married earlier in the day, so it completed our day beautifully. Thank you.

User

Had a lovely time with my friends but was disappointed when after being told how wonderful the special was but when i vame to order shortly after it had sold out! Its a shame that not more was offered for gluten free including the pizza and chips. Then my friend had been asked after the rest of the table had been served whether she was waiting for anything! Yes her dinner....

User

Great place, tasty food, friendly staff. Loved every minute. As a great Jamie fan, I didn’t want to miss this opportunity to try while we visited Oxford and Im glad we didn’t. Husband wasn’t impressed by the pizza, but mostly because he likes (pls forgive him) American style pizza more. Crab spaghetti was wonderful. Thank you

User

Great food, but shame about VERY warm red wine. It was cooled down in the 'fridge by request. Excellent and attentive service from the waiter.

User

Not the best. Waiter spent 5 mins+ telling the wife of the differin' types of gluten free meals, only then to bring out a un-gluten free meal after we ordered one. Muppetry!!!

Then tried to charge us for more drinks than we had .

Soz Jamie Oliver won't be making a return visit

Disappointing!

This was the first restaurant! Jamie Oliver is English! So why was it such a let down???

I went to Jamie's Italian in Sydney and was absolutely blown away! The food all the wait staff (as I had to wait for a table I sat at the bar) and still mills ahead of what I got tonight.

without a shadow of a doubt Jamie's Italian in Oxford lacked great services and great food.

I am young I know and I look younger! But obviously not that young as I didn't get ID to drink alcohol. when I walked in 2 different wait staff looked at me and looked away as if there was no way I could eat there or something...

i get it but um... just because I'm not middle aged doesn't mean I don't want a nice greeting a nice waiter and a nice meal.

I have been a waitress from fast food to fine dining and there was a lot of fiddly nothing going on as I sat and waited for every step to happen throughout the evening.

It was okay... but only okay.

P.s i wouldn't recommend the cannelloni!

User

A hair in the soup and steak that was too tough to cut or chew. Waiter Luca was charming and apologetic though and desserts were good.

User

The same problem like few yours previous customers our meal was missing most of the trimmings. One sheet of pasta for lasagne, one spoon of tomato sauce and maybe just a little of meat... but I expected something better for this price. Disappointed. My partner’s meal the same.

Pasta - overcooked.

Badly seasoned meatballs.

For that quality of food which we had are totally overpriced...

In my opinion it wasn’t worth it, could had better ready meal from Tesco for less money

Our experience of this restaurant was appalling. As a group we required the vegan menu, which upon enquiry we discovered was not suitable for vegans (the garlic flatbread and all of the pasta contained egg, which was not listed on the website as an allergen). We ordered 3 different vegetarian pizzas, which were indistinguishable from each other and seemed to only consist of dough and a copious amount of tomato sauce. It seems unbelievable that not a single one of these pizzas came with an offering of a vegetable on top, and a scarce amount of cheese. Furthermore, the replacement eggless pasta in our dishes barely seemed to be seasoned and there was very little sauce accompanying. Additionally, several of the dishes we couldn't eat such as the polenta chips because they were fried in the same fryer as dishes containing egg. From an allergen perspective, it does not seem like the restaurant can state that it truly can offer a vegan menu (and a gluten free menu if they are cooked in the same fryer and environment) and it seemed like a lot of our time was wasted attempting to decode if a dish was truly suitable to our dietary requirements or not. The service was slow and it took us over an hour and a half to finish our meal even though the actual food was consumed within 20 minutes. Overall this was a truly tragic experience

User

Had to deal with a extremely rude staff member and big waits for a half made entree.. very poor experience sadly
