It's Celebration time!
After a lot of hard work and a mountain of paperwork, and of course today's inspection, we at J.E.T. Falconry are proud to say we are holders of the new Animal Activities Licence.
This replaces the old licence we had but now a lot more in depth.
... This means we are able to continue providing educational talks, experiences and displays for fetes, scout groups, country shows, schools, etc. If you are interested then please get in touch.
In the meantime, we have some bubbly to get through!

Well, following all the glorious sunshine we've been having it's only right to have a bit of rain. Here the hawks are sat out in one of the downpours.
You might be able to tell one of them is enjoying it. The other, not so much...

Yesterday afternoon we had another wild Sparrowhawk brought in to us. This time a female. A very gorgeous bird, and in fine condition. This one was found hopping on the ground not able to fly. We gave her a once over and noticed a swelling in her wing, indicating a possible broken bone. She was then taken to Great Western Exotics last night and examined this morning. Unfortunately xrays showed a broken bone which, if left to heal, would have caused interference with her joint... and her hunting/flying ability. Therefore the decision has been made to put her to sleep. It's a sad case for such an incredible bird of prey.

April 1st already! We can't believe a quarter of the year has already gone by. Its been a great start with lots of hunting, flying, training, school and educational visits. And a fair few bookings for the show season ahead. After the long winter, all the animals are enjoying a bit of time off in order to rest and relax before the summer. Keep an eye out for updates for upcoming events. But for now, here are a couple of pictures of the team from the year so far.

Eleanor, our youngest member of staff, has decided to raise some money for a great cause. She is running the Blenheim Mile next month for the Hawk Conservancy Trust and their work in Africa protecting the rapidly declining vultures. We are so proud of her for deciding to this and for choosing such a worth while cause. If you can spare some change she would really appreciate it.
... Go Eleanor! X

Along with our usual bird boxes, we have recently done a more unique commission. Our good friend Luke Mammatt has just set up his own business called Wye Valley Falconry and came to us to make these boxes. He had specific requirements to allow his birds somewhere sheltered, free from rain, draughts, and to get out of view. Using this info, and working with Luke we came up with the design and produced these. We are happy with them, but more importantly Luke and his birds are!... We wish Luke the very best with his new venture and if you are ever in the Wye Valley area, look him up.

Some of you may already be aware, but if not, it's National Nest Box week. Here is one of our most recent, a Barn Owl box. Working with the customers requests, we tweaked the original design slightly and also added a lockable door on the side to allow easy cleaning. We're looking forward to seeing this one up in place with Barn Owls in very soon.
We also make a variety of other animal boxes and feeders. To enquire or place an order, please get in touch.

Yesterday evening, we had one of those rare occasions when a wild bird of prey is brought in to us. This male Sparrowhawk (also known as a Musket) was found at the side of the road just a few hundred metres away. We guess he either crashed whilst in pursuit of prey or perhaps hit by a vehicle. We gave him a once over, checking for any broken bones and obvious injuries. None were found, and he was in healthy condition. Though due to probable internal injuries, he didn't make it through the night. An unfortunate case for a magnificent hawk.

With some lovely weather, it would have been a shame not to take advantage of it. A nice hour or so out at one of my favourite locations.

We have the pleasure of being asked to attend Eynsham Halls Wedding Open Day at the end of the month. A beautiful setting for your big day. Pop along for a tour and say hello to Mara and Joe.

We hope everyone has had a lovely day in the snow. Even Mara came to assist when I was clearing some snow from her aviary.

Now is the perfect time to get bird boxes installed in your garden. Boxes need to be in place before the birds start to think about nesting. So there is no time like the present to order a bird box or two. (we are able to provide species specific designs if required)
With the colder weather set to return at the end of the month make sure you're providing plenty of food and water. Our bird tables, mounted feeders and ground feeders make ideal feeding stations for many differe...nt garden species.
Please get in touch with orders or questions. Via Facebook messenger or email j.e.t.falconry@gmail.com

It's been a busy weekend for us. Started with a Christmas Extravaganza on Friday, a Christmas Fayre on Saturday, and then a birthday party yesterday. All of the animals have been superb and we have met lots of lovely people too.
A nice weekend getting in the Christmas spirit.

We're at West Witney Primary School's Christmas Fayre today with our Hand-Made Habitats.

It's been a busy couple of weeks at HQ. The animals are still going strong with hunting season in full swing. But our boxes have had lots of interest.
There's been bug boxes (large and small), bird boxes, our hedgehog boxes are proving very popular, and there's even been a custom tortoise home made.
... And there's still orders coming in!
Get in touch to place yours in time for Christmas. (not long now!)

J.E.T falconry attended a fun day we organised for the Swindon Air Cadets to celebrate their 75th anniversary.

J.E.T were very professional and attracted many of our visitors to their display.

They displayed great knowledge of their birds and their habitats.

It was great to have them along and we look forward to meeting with them again soon.
