On the 31st July 1968, the first episode of DADS ARMY was broadcast. It was a British comedy about the Home Guard in the Second World War. The BBC series regularly gained audiences of 18 million viewers during the 1970's and is still repeated today.
Nearly all the cast appeared at the Kings Theatre including Arthur Lowe (Captain Mainwaring), Clive Dunn (Sargent Jones) & John Le Mesurier (Sargent Wilson) who were playing in the thriller GASLIGHT in Oct 1939.
Winston Churchill was in the audience for this show as he was watching his daughter Sarah who was also in the play. #TBT #ThrowbackThursday

Went to The Story of The Everly Brothers "Walk Right Back" on Thursday 10th May, which was a quite brilliant show. I would highly recommend it. It was also our first visit to The Kings Theatre, which is a proper old theatre and just the right size.

Will be back to see more shows for sure.

User

We took our 4 daughters to the pantomime last night it was there first time going (also my husbands) the show was fantastic the connection with the audience was great. My girls loved it and there was a shout out to our family and there grandad had a mention in the show. We can’t wait it’s come again next year.

User

We had such an amazing evening seeing snow white! This was by far one of

The best ones I've seen! Absolutely fantastic cast and they really got the audience involved! Including my dad who was chatted up by the dame (jack Edwards) for he whole show Ha ha x

User

We came to see the evening performance of Snow White last night. My boys ( 7&4) first Panto! ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! It felt so Christmassy from the second it started, oh no it didn’t OH YES I DID!! Everyone was totally fab but I have to say Sarah Spoilit was just hilarious, I thought my 7 yr old was going to bust something laughing so hard. Perfect Panto character!!! Thank you Kings theatre, the music, the scenes, the bubbles, the best Christmas treat

User

Took my mum to see Mama Mia this evening, she has seen it several times in Las Vegas and once in London.....she said this one was better! We were all very impressed. Fantastic, very funny and very professional

User

This is the second year I've taken my six year old grandson to the Kings Theatre pantomime and I don't know who enjoyed it more, me or him. Improvement in costumes and dance from last year, but the entertainment was second to none in both shows. Thank you to all involved. We will definitely be coming next year!

User

Saturday night out filled with so many laughs! First time taking my 4 boys, 15, 12, 10 and 4. The 3 older boys were not looking forward to it. But I've not seen them laugh so much! They were nearly crying esp when Sarah was gagging over the eggs! 12 days of Christmas was just so funny, esp when huntsman fell over and Sarah lost her wig! Well done to everyone! Truly amazing and now my boys can't wait to go to see another pantomime (feel u may have set the bar to high!)

User

Really fantastic classic family outing. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Two grand children eight and three were spellbound with the sets, costumes and fun. Can’t recommend it more highly and all in the most beautiful old theatre. You must go!

My 2 daughter's aged 11 and 5 first experience at theatre and panto! Snow white was The best thing they could of possibly witnessed... they were both glued to it from start to finish... what a magical way to start the beginning of theatre life for my girls.. thank you cast for such a positive experience.

User

Just seen Mama Mia. Saw it in London a few years ago and this production was even better with easier transport links and excellent bars/eateries opposite especially The Vaults Bar. x

User

I brought my 6 year old twin daughters to see Snow White yesterday. It was their first to trip to the theatre and their first panto. We had such an amazing time, the girls were overwhelmed just being in the theatre and it looked very festive with the swags around the circle.

The panto itself was excellent, it was exactly the experience I wanted them to have, their eyes were wide, they were jumping out of their seats with excitement and shouting at the top of their lungs during the audience participation. As soon as we left they asked if we could go back again straight away to watch it again!

Such an amazing first experience of the theatre for them and a memory they will have for a long time !

User

I took my granddaughter to see Snow White, she’s almost 5 and first theatre visit. She had the best time and so did I...highly recommend this panto, in particular the Woodsman who played a great part, Muggles and his mother and Fairy Sparkles. The 12 days of Xmas song was panto at its best and we loved every minute!!

User

Will not go back as staff (David) was very rude I front of my 3 children

User

I went to see Carols at the Kings - it was more like Carols at Piccadilly Circus. During the show the ushers were coming and shining their torches into the rows and then flicking them back and forward to catch people’s attention. People were getting up leaving all through the show to 'pick up their children who had been performing' - - who on earth sat them in the middle of a row?! Then the St Johns school children were running backwards and forwards to the toilet - one or two I could understand - but it seemed like there was some secret competition on the see who could go to toilet the most! Then MORE people leaving to collect their children – OMG!!! Overall very very poor - not the performance - that was fantastic - but the management of the coming and going during the show was awful.
