#Repost @theyilingcr...afts with @get_repost ・・・ Yes I am aware that this is my 3rd Lottie in as many weeks, but you probably know by now that I like to make the same pattern a few times to tweak some details or add variations 😊 Plus I don’t have any casual dresses suitable for summer get-togethers so these are perfect!
A few people asked on my last Lottie about the back pleat, so I’ve added a picture here. I’ve played around with different pleats and I think an inverted pleat looks the best. I’ve also added a picture to show how I change the neckline. Basically I wanted to extend the base of the straps higher to hide my bralettes properly. However, this creates an angle (mine is at the notch) so I simply follow the new curve and create a V neck from there by cutting off the excess from the original pattern. Unfortunately, I did not have the foresight to take a picture before cutting the pattern piece, but hopefully you know what I mean!
The last tip I have- after making a muslin that fits (you can just make the top portion), measure the front neckline with gathers and note the length for the next time you make it. On the unaltered pattern, my front was 6”. On this, it is 8” as you can see written on the piece! I hope this helps those of you who found the straps too wide! Feel free to ask if I wasn’t clear about something. This fabric is another Lady McElroy cotton lawn. 😊

#Repost @theyilingcrafts with @get_repost ・・・ Last week, I got an order of mostly Lady McElroy fabrics! I’ve seen some lovely prints on Instagram and recently discovered they come from this company. I couldn’t find a US source for the fabrics so I ordered some from @lamazifabrics (due to the magic words: free shipping 😂) . They were kind enough to send matching thread and buttons for one of the prints, so I decided it was destined to be a shirtdress.
The bulk of my order was cotton lawns. I wasn’t sure if they had different types of lawns based on the names, but so far all the fabrics feel similar post wash. The cotton definitely has a silky lawn feel, but it’s heavier than most lawns I’ve used before. I’d say it is the perfect dressweight.
A lot of their prints seem to be large scale and directional, so keep that in mind before ordering. I’m normally not into such distinctive prints but it’s really nice to be able to order fabrics and know the quality of the base cloth.
