South East Champions League Final -
Slough Warriors took on familiar foes Slough Tigers in the final of the South East Regional competition. The Warriors saw off Aylesbury Outlawz of Buckinghamshire and CSC - the Slough Sunday League Champions, on the way to the final, whereas Tigers qualified after beating BOOM BOOM XI and Little Waltham CC, both of Essex.
Slough Warriors batted first, and got off to a flier, with openers Sahaan John and Anas Dad scoring 49 off 29 and 48 off... 27 respectively, and at one point it looked like a score close to 200 was possible, but a good fightback by the Slough Tigers bowlers restricted the Warriors to 174-6 from their 20 overs; Waqas Khan was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-27-2.
Slough Tigers' innings followed a similar pattern; a great opening partnership between Arslan Yaseen (36 off 20) and Mohammad Mohsin Rasheed (46 off 27) put the Tigers in a very strong position, but after Yaseen was dismissed, the boundaries dried up, wickets started to fall and the asking rate increased over by over, and they eventually ended up 15 runs short, finishing on 159-6. Sahaan John was unarguably the pick of the bowlers with excellent figures of 4-12-3, which, along with his splendid innings with the bat, won him the Man-of-the-Match award.
Slough Warriors will now represent South East England in the National Finals in 2 weeks.

South East Champions League Semi Final โ€“
Little Waltham CC beat MK Maaya Tigers of Buckinghamshire in the quarter-final, but a semi-final against Slough Tigers was always going to be a much bigger challenge for them. Little Waltham batted first and the top order never really got going, thanks to some great bowling by Slough Tigers; Waqar Khan had fantastic figures of 4-23-2 and at one point they looked in danger of being bowled out for less than 100. However a brilliant lower... order fightback led by Waqas Mahmood (57* off 30) and Neil Davidson (37 off 23) lifted Little Waltham to a score of 163-7 from their 20 overs.
Slough Tigers wouldnโ€™t have been too happy after letting Little Waltham back into the game after having put them in such a perilous position, but the smiles were soon back on their faces as they got off to a flier in the chase, courtesy of openers Arslan Yaseen (42 off 14) and Mohammad Mohsin Rasheed (31 off 16). They were both dismissed in quick succession, but the damage had already been done, Najeeb Khan came in at number 3 and blasted 41* off 22 balls and Waqar Khan smashed 21* off just 6 balls, sealing the victory for the Tigers with a huge six off the last ball of the 14th over.

A belated congratulations to MK Maaya Tigers for winning the MK and Aylesbury league this season. In a competitive league, they lost only one game, adapting to different situations and almost always finding a way to win, the sign of a good team!
Well organised, committed, well run, MK Maaya Tigers are the team to beat in 2019

South East Champions League - Semi Final
Slough Warriors Vs CSC
The 2nd semi final was matched between Slough Warriors who had seen off Aylesbury Outlawz against CSC who had bye into the semi finals.
... Batting first, Warriors took this game by the scruff of the neck from the off. Both openers, Ali Akbar Raja and Sahaan John put on over a 100 for the first wicket. They both reached 50s in good time, giving their middle order plenty of time to post an imposing total, which Syed Naqvi took full advantage of, scoring 31 from 13 balls. Warriors finished their innings on 204/4.
CSC were always going to be up against it chasing such a total against the league champions and never really got into the chase. Jalees Hassan top scored with 36 and a decent 34* from last man standing, Zaheer Abbas were the highlights of the innings, however again the spin attack from Warriors was too stifling. Ali Akbar Raja returned figures of 3/23 and Sahaan John 3/13 as CSC finished 80 runs short on 124/7.
Warriors win through to the final where they will meet arch rivals Slough Tigers for a place in the National finals in London.

South East Regional Playoffs Region 7 Quarter Final โ€“ BOOM BOOM XI (Essex) vs Slough Tigers (Berkshire)
Slough Tigers took on BOOM BOOM XI, who qualified via winning the Essex Grand Finals, with a semi-final against the winners of the quarter final between Little Waltham CC and MK Maaya Tigers at stake. BOOM BOOM XI won the toss and batted first, but a great spell by Raja Ifraz Khan, who had figures of 4-18-2, didnโ€™t allow them to get off to the start they would have had in ...mind. There were a total of 5 single-digit scores as BOOM BOOM XI struggled to get to grips with Slough Tigerโ€™s bowling attack, but an extraordinary innings by Muhammad Fiazan (pictured), just 19 years of age, gave them something to bowl at, as they finished on 143-7 from their 20 overs. The youngster scored 83* off justt 49 balls, a huge proportion of the team total, and one could be forgiven for thinking that he was batting on a different pitch altogether! Unfortunately, his valiant effort was in vain, as Slough Tigers cruised to victory, losing just 1 wicket, and achieving their target in the 16th over. Arslan Yaseen scored 50* off 22 balls, which won him the Man-of-the-Match award, and his opening partner Mohammad Mohsin Rasheed scored 53* off 36 balls. Waqas Khan chipped in with 28* off 13 balls.

Regional final - Quarter Final 2 Little Waltham CC proved too strong for MK Maaya Tigers in the South East Region 1/4 final at Burnham.
Having been sent in to bat Little Waltham were struggling early as James Wagg bowled Harris Mahmood for a second ball duck - but that was as good as it got my the side from Milton Keynes. Not one Waltham player made 50 but 3 got into the 4s with skipper Waqas Mahmood playing the innings of the 1st half with 44* of 24 balls to take his side t...o an imposing 195/5 off their 20 overs.
In reply MK were pegged back by the excellent bowling of Farhan Mahmood who bowled with aggression & fielding superbly, including taking a double play as MK never really got going. Some late blows from Harry Everett (36) and Drew Burrows (32) gave MK a glimmer of hope but it was extinguished by the 3-14 taking by Naved Mahmood as Waltham won by 35 runs to book their place in the semi final

South East Regional Playoffs Update
Region 7 Quarter Final - Aylesbury Outlawz vs Slough Warriors.
Yesterdays playoffs got under way early at Burnham CC with a quarter final between Slough Premier League Champions, Slough Warriors and perennial playoff hopefuls, Aylesbury Outlawz.
... Batting first, Warriors got off to a steady start, despite losing Anas Dad early on. Annis Mehran and Zargham Ali bowled tight lines for Outlawz as Warriors struggled to make a real impact in the first half of their innings. Waqar Mohammed bowled with some decent pace, which also kept the batsmen on their toes. It was only when Najeeb Malik 53* and Syed Naqvi 44 formed a partnership in the 2nd half of the innings that Warriors got to a total that was defendable. Posting 169 was a really good effort and proved to be too much for the Outlawz to chase.
Outlawz started with a bang, but when big gun Shahbaz Alam was dismissed for 10 early on, things started to turn the way of the Warriors. Their spin trio of Ali Akbar Raja, Sahaan John (3/22) and Najeeb Malik really kept the runs down and stifled the innings. Kelvin Burrows 47 gave a valiant effort but when he was out stumped, Outlawz had nothing more to give, leaving last man Annis too much to do alone and Warriors win by 23 runs to progress to the semi finals against CSC.

Watford Final 2018 โ€“
BUTTSman knew the odds were stacked against them as they met London Zalmi, who had a 100% record going into the grand finale. To make matters worse, one of their key players was out of the country and thus unavailable for selection. However, they defied all logic and won a thrilling final by just 1 run to become the Watford 2018 Champions, in their debut season in LMS!
BUTTSman won the toss and batted first, and they sprung a surprise by opening the batti...ng with Tahir Butt, along with regular opener Yusuf Ashraf. The gamble paid off, as he scored 55 off just 33 balls. Ashraf scored 43 off 30, as they finished on 114-2, after the overs were reduced from 16-a-side midway through the innings due to a 20 minute burst of heavy rain, to 13 overs per team.
BUTTSman got off to a perfect start with the ball, with opening bowlers Tahmoor Islam and Tahir Butt applying the pressure early on, as both Zalmi openers were dismissed cheaply. Farhad Mullahzada, batting at number 3, kept Zalmi in the game, but wickets fell around him, with Muhammad Shahbaz taking 3 wickets, and an excellent wicket maiden by Tahmoor Islam in the 10th over put BUTTSman in the driverโ€™s seat. Eventually, 7 wickets fell so Mullahzada was left batting on his own, and he almost single-handedly pulled it off for Zalmi; he finished on 67*, with Zalmi requiring 2 runs off the final delivery, but bowler Muhammad Shahbaz kept his cool, with Mullahzada failing to get bat on ball; heartbreak for Zalmi but jubilation for BUTTSman, who, as a result of this victory, will take place in the Regionals on Sunday. One must feel for London Zalmi, who played some excellent cricket on the way to the final, but there is no shame in losing to a team who played as well as BUTTSman did on the day, who were brilliant in all three aspects of the game, completing a remarkable turnaround for them, it was hard to believe this was the same team who lost their opening game by a huge margin of 82 runs.
See you all in 2019!

The final of the MK and Aylesbury league playoffs was held in MK on Wednesday evening. MKCB batted first against Aylesbury Outlawz and some big hitting in the middle overs from Noman Ibrahim (35 off 13) and Chander Poothi (41no), following Vijay Baburaj's second fifty of the play offs, set a challenging total of 172-4.
I'm response Aylesbury were straight tout of the blocks. Shabaz Alam (51no off 16 - 318.75sr) and Kelvin Burrows (39 off 17) saw the Outlawz hit 40 off two overs and 83 off five. Akeel Khan (22 off 9) and MotM Waqar Mohammed (40 off 20, to go with his 2-20 bowling figures) also helped as Aylesbury reached 174-5 off 14.3 overs. Winning team pictured below
Good luck to both Aylesbury Outlawz and league winners MK Maaya Tigers at the Regional finals this weekend. See you all in 2019...

Slough League Update
Autumn League
As the fine summer continues, it is only right that we continue playing cricket. Our inaugural Autumn league got under way on Sunday with 4 games at Salt Hill Park.
... First off was Fast & Furious Vs Vizag Blues. Fast & Furious batted first, posting 150 with a steady 46 from skipper Tehmur Tariq. That was never going to be enough with Vizags big hitters and they comfortably reached their target with overs to spare. Faizal Khan 52* and Rakesh Patel 53* and 3/26 were the star men for Vizag.
Next up were Cricket Freaks Vs Slough Elite. Elite controlled this game from the start. Only a decent and defiant 62 from freaks no7, Sap Bansal gave Freaks a total to defend. 138/8. Elite made light work of this with both openers Ahmer Mughal 50* and Ikram Kazmi 50* reaching retirement and Elite cruised to victory without losing a wicket.
Third game saw KP Lions win against Reverse Swingers. Posting 177, Haider Zaman top scored with 53* for Lions. Swingers never really got into the run chase and were bowled out for 120.
The final game of the day was the closest and most tense game of the day. Batting first, Balls of Slough posted 167, with Saqib Kayani smashing 67*. Their opponents Jai Shivaji were always in the game chasing. Opener Sunil Bindra carried his bat for 43*, however a fine spell of swung bowling at the death from Ganesh Chandrasekhar 3/24 closed the game out for Boss with Jai Shivaji falling 14 runs short on 153.
This was a great start to the autumn league, with fine weather and good cricket being played. Let's hope this continues for another 7 weeks.

Watford Playoffs 2018
The second Semi Final was between London Zalmi and Regals Cricket Club, and it was Zalmi who won the toss and batted first on a chilly evening. They got off to a flier courtesy of Rashid Mullahzada (21 off 9 balls) and Ali Mandozai, who finished on 63* off 27. A couple of quick wickets put Regals back in the game, but Farhad Mullahzada ended all hopes of a collapse, scoring 50* off 26. Qais Mullahzada also chipped in with 28 off 21, as Zalmi finished on... 179-6. Karthik Madabhushi (pictured) was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-29-2.
Regals Cricket Club gave it a good go in the chase, with Madabhushi the top scorer with an excellent 48 off just 20 balls in the fading light, which won him the Man of the Match award. Opener Raman Mitra also played a good innings, scoring 36 off 18 but Regals ended up 36 runs short.
As a result of this victory, London Zalmi will take on BUTTSman in the final. Scorecard: https://www.lastmanstands.com/scorecard&a mp;fixtureid=231861
