What an impressive change and the cafeteria looks so clean and welcoming, the food was excellent too. My only criticism, and I struggled to find fault if I'm honest, was that one lady was having to make the teas and coffee as well as man the till at the same time despite there being other staff in the prep area and it resulted in a bit of a slow service. The garden centre side had loads of variety and if you can't find what you want here you must be hard to please! Well done Longacres đź‘Ť

User

What a lovely selection of plants and much better value than other local garden centres. We also visited the fish shop for the first time in ages and they had soo much selection was great! Kids loved the new little play area! We will be back soon... our first choice for garden centres in the area!

User

Most impressed at the quick turnaround from a tired garden centre to a thriving place to be! Although a keen gardener, I had stopped visiting Bybrook over the last few years, found the cafe 'cheap and cheerful' and the plants expensive and the inside like a shopping mall. What a transformation since Longacre took over. The staff are very helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The plants are amazing and I can't believe the value for money, Inside there is plenty of gardening equipment but other things for the less interested to browse, and the new restaurant, which I tried today, was smart, bright and a great menu. The outside seating area will be great later in the year and I was pleased to see the ducks have not been forgotten - their area has been improved too. I'm not keen on the clothing area but maybe this is popular with others. I now visit regularly, as it's a real 'gardeners garden centre'!

User

Love long acres such a great transformation. A pleasure to visit. I love the new craft section which is really needed around here and the restaurant is clean and airy and very comfy. Plant range is vast and the extra shopping is an added bonus. Nothing can beat it at Christmas time. Superb.

User

It was always great but now brought up to date with a fresh new look and a different wide range of new and interesting quality products. 10 out of 10 to the new owners for making it their own, although let's not forget the great service that the Bybrook Barn has given us for the last 40 years. Soon to be complimented by a freshly refurbished Harvester over the road.

User

It had been 18 years since I last visited this garden centre when I first met my future in laws and yes it’s changed a bit. Today we visited with my husbands mum and she hadn’t visited for a very long time. The coffee shop is great for people like me who can’t eat gluten or dairy. Lots to look at inside and was surprised at how big the craft area is great for people that make their own cards. The outside area looks lovely with the pond but was a bit cold on this occasion to enjoy so will have to visit again in the spring.

User

I have been meaning to write this for a while now. My mum booked tickets for my girls to visit father Christmas......Wow, what can I say....5 stars does not give it justice. It was fab! Loved the entrance with all the lights etc before you even go in to see the man himself. Although my girls were slightly under the weather (due to horrible colds) and being a bit shy, they had a lovely time! They also both got a lovely Christmas bag with a Santa and a gorgeous Christmas book in. Both girls loved them and the Santa's sit on their beds pride of place. All for ÂŁ5! We will definitely be visiting again next year!! Big Thank you to all involved!

User

Had luck in the Harvester next door before out visit to Bybrook Barn. Great selection of plant at reasonable prices. We loved the beautiful garden ornaments too and I bought a beautiful orchid, a wonderful addition to my orchid addiction. We had a coffe in the cafe which was good. They have a wide range of gifts and gardening so they are all worth a visit.

User

Go here quite often even though I now live in SELondon. Find the plants very healthy and very reasonably priced and of course always stop off at the cafe for lunch. Have tried a few things off the menu and have never been disappointed.

Have also brought a couple of items of clothing which were in a sale and very cheap.

Love the range and selection of woodwick candles also the price is cheaper than most places that sell them so very impressed there too.

The staff especially one of the young lads that works on the tills I find very polite and welcoming. Definitely need another visit soon.

User

Congratulations to Longacers and all the hard working team who have made Bybrook Barn a fantastic place to visit and shop once again. The building was in desperate need of someone like you to invest the money needed to give Ashford such a diverse and well stocked garden centre. Your prices are fair and the quality is excellent.

User

Brilliant prices for healthy plants x young man on The till very polite x always have a lovely breakfast on A Friday!

User

A party of 11 of us took my stepmother and her twin sister for lunch to celebrate their 90th birthday. The food was good as was the service, we were looked after very well. The cafe is undergoing a refurbishment but never interfered with the service.

User

Visited several times under the new ownership and have been impressed with all the changes, always lovely things in store and the new restaurant was really good the three times I've eaten there (did try the American diner the first time we went down and can't say i was very impressed with it! Restaurant inside was much better!)... Wish i could add pictures to my review as id put the pictures up of the great cake i had!

User

I reviewed Longacres a few months ago and sadly gave it a poor rating as the service was really abysmal. I am now changing the rating as I have visited on numerous occasions since.

I noticed the changes soon after the rating and the promise by Longacres that the areas I highlighted would be improved. True to their word they did it, the level of customer service shot up. I can hardly believe it's the same place.

The staff are friendly and polite and the shop now looks very nice, so it's now my first choice of garden centre.

My only criticism and this stops it getting 5 stars, is there's no loyalty card. Occasionally there are offers, the recent hanging basket offer was excellent, my friend and I were surprised by just how good it was. I would like to see a loyalty card as currently you have to download offers onto you phone (can't do that) or print them (can't do that) so a card would be far more convenient, or even a postal list that we could join to get offers by mail.

Well done on the improvements though!

User

1 star for the fish bit - staff are ignorant of customers most of the time we go there. Attempt to make eye contact to get their attention, they walk away.

2 stars for the member of staff who helped us with our enquiry about the winter wonderland / Santa. We asked one member of staff who said you can’t prebook even though he said “I don’t know about it”, bit contradictory!!! At least the woman phoned people as she didn’t know! Gutted I didn’t get her name otherwise I would of praised her properly!!!!

User

Very dispointed with the whole outing . Lunch of ham egg and chips was poor . Very cold in the restaurant warmer outside ! The array of Christmas decorations was poor plus repetitious. No staff to be found on the floors for any help . Very cold and unwelcoming . Was going to bring my Grandson over to see Santa but will be going to Canterbury garden centre instead which is a great shame

User

Think you should re think the system you have in place regarding staff in the aquatic centre, I asked staff member who was free at the time if we could get some fish she went off to get a bag, in that time she gets stopped by other customers asking questions and showing them round pointing out different kinds whilst we stand waiting

I understand this happenes as only one staff member was in there at the time but these customers leave and then someone else grabs her and we are still left just waiting, no word of I'll be with you in a moment or this customer was just before you

After standing like a lemon for quite sometime we left with no fish or plant which we intending buying from you

This is not the first time we have had this happen

Your staff are pleasant and always helpful but you need to help them out by having other staff members available or a buzzer or something so she can get some assistance

You lost custom from me on two occasions I wonder if not more people have done so too?!

User

Think that will be the last time I ever visit, went to aquatics section to find very unhappy looking piranha's with chunks missing from them, looked in thanks to find a floating fish then a worker started spraying something in an enclosed area which made my asthma start a small amount and caused me to start sneezing so decided to go outside to find yet another floating fish... Absolute shambles don't know what any of the fish are as none are pictured with names so literally have no clue what's what, waste of our time and will never be visiting again. Good job we didn't have none of the kids with us as would of had to explained what those floating fish was doing!!

User

Really poor customer service!!

Approached the only open till to have a member of staff jump in front of us, then said member of staff was approached and asked a question by the on site builders. She walked off to assist the builders which was fine, however the man at the checkout proceeded to ignore me and my partner... no apology for the wait or no "I'll be right with you".... he just scanned the member of staff's bottle of water (who still hadn't returned to the till) then blanked us!! Needless to say we dumped the item we wished to purchase and walked out empty handed.

Really disappointed!

Lots to look at inside and was surprised at how big the craft area is great for people that make their own cards. The outside area looks lovely with the pond but was a bit cold on this occasion to enjoy so will have to visit again in the spring.

A party of 11 of us took my stepmother and her twin sister for lunch to celebrate their 90th birthday. The food was good as was the service, we were looked after very well. The cafe is undergoing a refurbishment but never interfered with the service.
